    January Challenge

jen I added myself to the spread sheet. let me know if it worked I can give you details if it did not
  3. Last Check in at 186. ust one pound over my goal.
  4. I was in the tub today and I can now lay my hands along side myself. Before I would have to have them behind my back or laying on my big belly. Seems silly, but it was a great feeling for me today.
  5. wow, HELLO fellow June 2011 bandsters. I was banded on June 30th. I started at 220# the beginning of my journey in Jan. 2010. Had to lose 10% weight by march 2011. At that time I was 208#. Gained back up to 215# waiting for insurance to approve. Surgery date set and weight was back down to a 206#. Surgery date weight was 204#. Two days after surgery I was 210# and now I am 189#. I have stopped losing weight due to relapse into old eating habits. I've been at 189# for two months now. I am working with an eating behavioralist to get "back on track" with my meals. I am at three fills and feeling some restriction. I am sure that one more fill will put me in the green zone. I know that I will start losing again in the next month as my behavioralist is aggressive in her therapy. So happy she is non judgemental, I judge myself enough lately. So I am married with four children, boy 21, boy 18, girl 15, step son 11 and boy 3. Also have a grand daughter 8 months. I live in Minnesota but my heart is warm and sunny in Miami. It would be nice to hear from more June 2011 bandsters. and updates on you goals and weight loss. I need some inspiration. Also anyone see the movie Corageous?
  6. tengles here checking in at 189.

  8. I have had three fills so far. My clinic waits four weeks between each fill. I am hoping to have another fill Nov 2 and I think I will finally be in the green zone. I do not know how much fluid I have in, my clinic does not like talking numbers unless it's my weight. I am going to ask how many cc's I have this next fill since I think I will not need anymore fills for a bit.
  9. I love water aerobics but until Jan can't get to gym to do them. I like to walk but I am in Minnesota and it is getting cold here and I hate the cold. I know I should work out but just do not want to when I have the time.

    Personal Trainer

I have had three back surgeries in my L4/L5 and have degenerative arthritis in that same area. I still have back pain. I want to work with a trainer but am worried that they will not be properly trained for people with back issues. Any Ideas?
  11. I had this after surgery also. I ended up going into ER because it was so bad. They called my surgeon and they came back with muscle pain. It now only comes once in a while and is totally bearable.
  12. Okay, don't laugh. But I have had bad smelly gassy farts since surgery. It is especially bad at night. I am embarrased by this and hate when my husband walks in the room and asks what smells. I try to blame it on my son, great mom huh, but I am sure my husband knows. So here is my questions. Is it common? I know gas can be but people are vague wether it is stomach gas or butt gas. How do I get rid of it. I do have gasex but again thought it is more for stomach gas. I do not eat a lot of foods that usually cause gas so I have no idea where it is all coming from. Giggles are okay, kinda a funny subject to me. But help is much needed. thanks

  16. four years ago when I was pregnant with my son I was tested and was told I had Hyperthyroidism. Then right after that I was Hypothyroidism. Anyhow went for an ultrasound and my thyroind was enlarged and had small nodes in it. No meds though. Since then my TSH has been normal and all I do is go in for yearly testing and ultrasounds. I have my first one post surgical and am curious of any changes. I have been tired lately but am going to try the b12.

    Do you regret it?

I love the idea of the video. That was great. And also you are a pretty woman and look younger than 27. Okay that being said I also agree that you may not be ready for WLS. The lap band will not help your depression and will probably increase yor depression after the surgery. I learned this from my surgeon and also during my psych eval. I suffer from depression and PTSD but was fortunate not to have had increased symptoms after surgery. I was diligent about taking my meds. The increased depression is usually the result of the loss and mourning of food. I was excited after surgery and did well at first but then my old habits came back. I missed my favorite foods and so I tried them with my band and guess what? I was fine! It has been over a month since I lost any weight though and that depresses me. I am fortunate to have seen an a great eating behavioralist before surgery (orders from my psych eval) and am now seeing her again to work through my issues with food. She recently taught a seminar and it went through everything I am going through with food right now, so I know she can help me. Okay on the health thing. I have not heard of many health issues as long as you keep up Protein intake and a good multi Vitamin. It is important to pay attention to what you put in your body and think quality not quantity. Quantity will come from the restriction that your band will provide. Being vain is not always a bad thing. I am the first to say that one of the reasons I had the band is for looks in the end. I think about next year when I will have a rockin' body. I also did it for any future health issues I may have and for a better life with my children. But I love wearing smaller and cuter clothes and I have only lost 20 lbs since surgery. Really reasearch more on the band but even more on yourself before you make any life altering decisions.

    Backsliding

Thanks, it is nice to have a place with lots of support and that I feel like I can be held accountable for my actions regarding my band.
  20. So I was banded the end of June and I have been back to old eating habits. Sometimes I wish I had gastric bypass because there are so many foods that you can not eat. I have found that I can eat the same foods as before I was banded. Since I can eat them I have been cheating. I have not gained weight but I also have not lost weight in the past few months. So I decided it was time to get help. Before I had surgery I had to meet with an eating behavioralist and I did great, she is really good. Now I started to meet with her again. I am ashamed that I broke the rules but feel good that I am getting back on track and taking charge again.
  21. FINALLY dropped some weight. Tengles checking in at 187.2
  22. Has anyone just not ever felt hungry? I have been really busy the past few weeks and forget to eat. Now even when I am at home I forget to eat because I am just not hungry. I am only three months out and just got my third fill today.

    appetite

I have felt this same way. You really summed it all up for me. I guess I am just concerned that if I eat too few calories I will not lose. I have decided to go back to my eating specialist for help on getting back on track in and out of the home.
