Question for the Sleeve Veteran's - GERD?
@@NJ Mom some people might develop really bad heartburn even if they didn't have earlier problems pre-op i never experienced heartburn pre-op or post op (only had it a few times in my life) docs prescribe meds like prilosec to many (me) this usually helps the problem but not for everyone if you never had heartburn - it might "appear" after you are sleeved if you do have heartburn, strong chances that you will have heartburn PO some people have had revision surgery from sleeve to gastric bypass heartburn was unbearable glad you have done your homework/research common but true comment - "talk to your doc" i have read many docs will wisely advice OP on different WLS than sleeve do to the heartburn issue 5 years PO, i never had heartburn i luv my sleeve to pieces!!! very happy good luck next month kathy

Anyone with more than 5 years post op?
@@ma08 sorry guys, long post, what else is new - get a glass of water!!! this year i will be celebrating my 5th year sleeve surgiversary holy moly - time really does fly i lost 100s of lbs over the years bully for me LOL maintenance is very hard after you've lost weight the "regular way" i could never keep the weight off - that's why i decided on WLS maintenance after sleeve (or any other WLS) can be harder for some (me) restriction is probably/almost non existent by now (for me) i need to know when to stop eating main issue - i can't graze - have prob with that at times i'm not perfect!!! Well actuallly maintenance isn't always easy (in my case) eating is now mainly mind over matter i don't measure much anymore - i eat same stuff a lot, so i know portions I must eat carefully, moderation, drink 64+ oz of Water, eat lots of Protein etc etc etc butttt, that's how the world is supposed to eat!!! most "normal" OP don't follow the above - that's why they are heavy, morbidly obese!!! quantity of obese people is unfortunately a never ending story Forever and a day........... I must continue following the above plus more to maintain my weight everyone in the world should follow rules too but - i can't take care of the worlds' problems - just mine walk, talk, chew gum, rub my tummy at the same time!!! leap tall buildings too!! LOL could never do these things before !!! i never realized how sad i was at times, til i found joy sounds pretty sad that's my story and i'm stickin' to it!!! did i "kindof" answer your question how life continues after 5 years with sleeve i am healthy and happy - enjoying life kathy congrats to me!!!!

Losing weight too fast?
@@keljo44 I'm hoping you meant to say after losing 80lbs you now weigh 225lbs that would mean your starting weight was 305 the higher weight you start at, the more you will initially lose losing 80 lbs in 9 weeks does sound like a lot in a short time but, nothing surprises me after a few weeks people's weight loss usually slows down good luck kathy

What should I do?
@@thesstrt man oh man!! office changing your surgery back and forth they have their nerve!! i would be going cray (hubby just said "that's a short trip" LOL ) (we are two peas in a pod!)LOL well, for now, at least the final change is just one week later than the earlier postponement!! LOL look at it this way - surgery 10/26 - NOT November still disappointed - but you should be ok if they change their mind again punch them!! LOL as far as pre-op Protein shakes continue or not for one week?? if you can survive another week with just liquids - that will help your weight loss (honeymoon period) liquids only are pretty hard for many decision up to you you could ask doc, he might say it's up to you (cowards way out!) good luck speedy recovery kathy
