Jasleeve I didn't write the below "I wondered to myself if i would have surgery if they gave me these options. LOL I think id tell them to bill my mother lol or something." i guess this was not taken too well, and it looked like i wrote it. Repeating, I did not write!!! Emails can get misinterpetated (msp) I was given directions on how to unsubscribe from the board!! Help, i don't want to leave you guys. Please someone write back. I want to fix this -

The Waiting Game..until insurance approves Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
ProudGrammy replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi - i have quite a waiting game with my insurance too. My DOS is 12/15/11. I am very excited for that date, and it will go on without a hitch. But....my primary insurance is Medicare (they do not accept the sleeve at this time) my secondary is Empire- does accept the sleeve if you have the qualifications. Unfortunately or fortunately - I have all the qualifications - bmi, diabetes, high blood pressure, chloresterol (msp). sleep apnea.... So, i have to have the surgery 1rst (without being approved yet) - after WLS bill is sent to primary, Medicare, it has to be officially denied, they have 30 days - then will be sent to Empire who "should" approve. Empire said i was "pre-approved" but you never know for sure. So I will go blindly into surgery without having official approval.. Its all the beurocricy. ( wow msp!!!) I'm "pretty" sure everything will be ok, i just wish i had the official word before i WLS. Oh well... -
Date Set for Gastric Sleeve Surgery & This Is All Starting To Add Up...phew!
ProudGrammy replied to Pookeyism's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Lissa - "Lose the weight or die" that is basically what my fathers dr. told him about 40 yrs. ago. He had a young family with the 5 of us kids - he smoked like a chimney...he listened to the dr. and lead a good healthy life. The analogy i'm trying to make, when you're overweight - just as being a heavy smoker - you have no chose but to lose weight in our case, or stop smoking - so you can live!!! -
Hi i posted earlier, but i think i went to the wrong area, so here goes again. I am crying through my tears. I thought i would write my other "family" you guys My WLS was scheduled for tuesday 12/6/11 - I have been all set, ready to go. My dr.s office just called to say they had to postpone. Dr. was concerned all of a sudden about my preop testing, it showed some heart problems, and he wanted to operate at a different hospital, thats better equipped in case of............... he assured me i would be fine. But he wanted to cover all basis. i'm so sad, and i had a good long cry. they said they would re-schedule asap. Son of a gun, they called me back in 1/2 hr. saying my surgery has been re-scheduled to 12/15/11 - about 9 days after it should have had my surgery. The office was really good to re-schedule so quickly. on the bright side, now i can have a few more days to do a self imposed liquid diet. dr. doesn't require. i have calmed down - alot, so i'll be fine. thanx for listening

hi all, i am crying through my tears. My DOS 12/6/11 has just been post-poned. I'm so upset, and hoped it would be ok to turn to "my other family" The dr.'s office nurse just called to say the dr. wants me to come in to see him next week "to talk". My disappointment, to put it mildly, translated to the nurse who was telling me to please "calm down". Apparently, luckiily, the dr. was there and came to the phone. He only wanted to see me to explain a couple of things, he can now talk as he said "phone to phone", no appt. necessary. My preop had been done the other day and it was the end of everything seeming to be fine. But the dr. now told me he just wanted to make sure everything was ok, and he was just being a little concerned about my cardiac history that showed up. He said all was fine, but he would rather perform WLS at another hospital he preferred. Dr.'s office has been in a transition changing locations/hospitals, so my surgery would now done be at the hospital the dr. always worked at before. The dr. is is all of a sudden a little concerned about my cardiac history, and also the fact that I have epilepsy. Both things have always been aware of, fine and approved with, He says he knows everything is going to be fine, but he would just rather due it at this hospital - which BTW is a hospital that is a little closer to me. Both hospitals are "centers of excellence" but he just wants the change (he always uses this hospital, but theres being a transition with his office location and where he would i totally know he is just looking out for me - and i know he is showing concern, being rather safe than sorry, i just wish this had been done earlier. But as i said i know he is looking out for me - which of course is showing that he cares and maybe is a better dr. right? He said he was really sorry, this should have been done before. But he didn't want to scare me or anything - he just thinks this is the way to go. i am finally calming down. I know all will happen just maybe a week later, but i am understandably sad. ( thanx for listening family o:) kathy -

Just Had gastric sleeve Surgery Two Days Ago
ProudGrammy replied to abs202's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm getting really concerned/worried about all these drinking problems, sipping etc. i'm pre-op and I'm scared that since we all will have this trouble drinking (even sipping) will we be able to get enough water in. Only getting those few ounces the first few days kindof, well we might get dehydrated, and thats obviously no good. Does the stomach just totally HURT post WLS that you can't get things down. I've also heard some say that after they drink even slowly.....the water will come back maybe. What do you say to a newbie thats an oldy of 58 kathy -

 Hi Lissa, I have read many many posts since i've started my journey waiting for my WLS on 12/6/11 - You seem to be one in the "know" giving many good responses about pre-op & post-op, and regular replies involving computer settings, blogs, tickers et al :hail: Here's my question :typing: .I know when I hit "quote" I will get the previous post in my new post that i'm making. (did I say that right?) I only want to take a section from the prior post and quote that into my new post. how do I do that? :help: PS - if you haven't noticed I am addicted to these emoticons :hurray: kathy wls 12/6/11 -

Yeh! The Lapband Is Coming Out....
ProudGrammy replied to Glendaaus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
when i was deciding which WLS to have, i immediately thought of the lap band, didn't really know of any other surgery except the gastric bypass, which i didn't want. My general physician said the lap band would be great for me. then i did some research, and found that the lap band had certain problems. Felt bad telling my great dr. i was going to go another route, the sleeve. due to all the problems that i've heard about the lapband, people going from lapband to sleeve, do you think the lapband will become extinct slowly? I'm very excited to become sleeved :purplebananna: DOS 12/6/11 right around the corner  -

I've always liked H20, sometimes I just don't drink enough. Why is it exactly that you can only sip very slowly for a time after surgery? Will it hurt my stomach to drink too quickly? When will this change. kathy dos 12/6/11 right around the corner
