Surgery In 2.5 Weeks and I Haven't Told Husband Yet...
ProudGrammy replied to Boldilocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Boldilocks wow, that's great - many OP have trouble drinking water. in my case i was told not to gulp for awhile (don't remember how long) double check with your NUT/doc, about "gulping", see what they say about drinking a few aches and pains, here and there do happen to some. I agree with OP that not giving you strong drugs was crazy!! (i'd like to see dr as a patient in pain, being told that he couldn't have more meds!) you deserve a hugeeeee pat on your back for standing up for yourself, having the WLS despite what husbands thoughts might have been. Kudos glad/surprised that hubby has been understanding and supportive. you are going through a specially hard time PO. Hope he will continue to change his tune. But i agree to be wary - whatever time period he is helpful, be grateful!! good luck with your new sleeve kathy good luck -

Liquid and soft food diet for veterans
ProudGrammy replied to Clementine Sky's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
@Clementine Sky hey bud - nice to see you , sorry about circumstances. since the implants are so expensive, do you have to delay getting things "fixed"" both sides, prob!! That's terrible - are you in pain, or "inconvenience? which is still terrible. must be a funny/awful feeling. soup, cauliflower are great suggestions. "maybe" chili, cottage cheese, yogurt i agree as always, track your food in MFP but...in my opinion, since your teeth/mouth are uncomfortable - i wouldn't worry too much about calories etc (don't go crazy of course!) you have a different/sad predicament - hopefully you'll be able to fix teeth, sooner than later. keep smiling😁 hugggggs kathy -
Wheelchair User Seeking Gastric Sleeve
ProudGrammy replied to FayeDolly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@FayeDolly welcome to the board. Most of us don't bite (LOL) - join us, always looking for nice newbies - we give good info/advise/support - there are "sitting" videos - also stuff on u-tube that could help you. glad you are seeing doc soon - he would be the one to advise you about the surgery and your circumstances/how you will handle things. - its true (like your dad) we are told to walk immediately after surgery - i'm sure doc will work with you for a new good plan. when you/me/all of us lose weight - it helps us with our mobility/physical problems. ie transferring from wheelchair should get easier /better. stay on the boards, learn more KNOWLEDGE is POWER☺️ good luck kathy -

After surgery, ever eat food you shouldn’t?
ProudGrammy replied to Bluebird_'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Bluebird_ NEVER EVER EVER!! 🤣 you are 3 months PO - in that time i know i didn't experiment with much/hardly anything. I was "pretty " good, strict with myself! i had to be! By 1 year GOAL/maintenance - i had definitely strayed a bit. if/when i fluctuated - i got back on board, and lost the few lbs i gained my first 58 years of my life, i have been the "fat kid". These past years, i've looked and felt great!! i still look like my "after" pic in my profile. (actually better!! LOL) i'm bad with posting pics with computer - but i'll try and get a new pic up. Don't be scared of my eventual new pic - i am officially i remember where i was and where i am now, can't and will never go back!!moral of my story watch everything you eat/drink - be careful what you eat- bad things that taste great are around each corner - beware!!! why/how have i stuck to eating right/quantities etc?? i am scared to death of becoming fat again!!! been there, done that!! 7 years older- but i feel 7+++ years younger (still look as cute as a button!!) 105 lbs less I am 5'3 tall, but i feel 6' tall!! kathy -
After surgery, ever eat food you shouldn’t?
ProudGrammy replied to Bluebird_'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Walter.Sobchak i've watched your journey, you starting as a newbie -- going to success - now acknowledging you haven't always made the best choices/quantities knowing the prob is half the solution - staying on this board is great for you (and OP) too, gets/keeps you motivated!! start to get back on board, eat and drink right - you/I know what to do - you CAN/will be successful again!! you lost 110 lbs total - the weight you put back on - done and over with. don't look back - only look forward, straight ahead. You can do it. You don't want a 20 lb regain to go up to 30, 40, 50 lb etc - nip it in the bud NOW!!! i know you are aces, and you will be a success again!!☺️ my fingers and toes are crossed for you good luck kathy -
@TomC i don''t think so.' most docs say not to drink soda, but i don't think it effects weight loss or gain. Just not good for you. Slapping your hand telling you to stop! LOL "we" all hate the word stall, but unfortunately its highlighted in the Bariatric Dictionary you are doing great with your weight loss - i think you are at a basic horrible stall that happens to all us. Three (3) months+ is a long time, but i've seen others that have stalled longer!! horrible, horrible - this too shall pass. Agree with OP, you should always track your food, drink etc. PATIENCE (easier said then done) good luck kathy

@GreenTealael Sorry bud i read your post from earlier and now understand. i looked up the word diastasis, now know the meaning of the word sounds like after a while it "might" clear up? i hope in your case it does. best kathy

Anyone taking Cymbalta? How to take Post-Op?
ProudGrammy replied to fun_freckles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@fun_freckles i asked my doc pre-op, about cymbalta - take or not at all. Doc said continue as normal - don't stop. your doc told you differently - this is a perfect example of listen only to "what you doc says" you might have already had your surgery, speedy recovery!! good luck😊 kathy -
@LustyDraconianMaid I had the same prob. What works for me is take the meds a few at a time, drinking slowly with a nice creamy thick protein shake. Goes down the throat nice and smooth. I hope this works for you too. i see you are two (2) weeks PO, just starting your journey - Hold on to your hat, ups and downs, the best is yet to come. good luck newbie☺️ kathy
-
@GreenTealael This is a joke right?? You've lost over 97 lbs with about one lb to GOAL - I doubt you ever looked pregnant!! Unless you were in real life!! You are such a silly head - but that's ok, love ya anyways😊 kathy

@HighInTrial hey dude - pics/mirrors don't lie, look again - believe me - you look great - keep up the good job kathy congrats

Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human
ProudGrammy replied to Matt Z's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@MIZ60 Many moons ago, I frequently went to a bakery. They made the best cheese danish in the world. I would come home, eat a bunch, then was so mad at myself for eating the danish. l poured dish washing detergent all over the danish, threw it out where i couldn't retrieve it, @MIZ60 great minds think alike☺️ kathy -
@Tootiesmum i also made a mistake last month.....i thought i was wrong☺️ kathy

Do you get hiccups when your getting full?
ProudGrammy replied to lifeasfaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@elcee ahhhh bud, you are smart as you are cute!! at 7+ years, i on occasion will still hiccup, that mean I should stop eating. or i've already had enough. in other words stop when you know you've eaten your portion. if you don't stops , 1,000 whips with a wet noodle (egggggads all those carbs!!)😁 good luck kathy -
@Reina73 you have a desk job. it might be a little easier to return to the office if you are not too tired. if you can financially afford it/and time is given to you - i suggest one - two weeks if you are feeling "ok", only a little tired. - BUT don't push yourself,it's not worth it. maybe go back at first taking 1/2 days then full days. See what works for you. i have said this before, in my case i returned to "work" the second i was home. i am happily retired☺️ good luck w/bypass next month. speedy recovery kathy

The best bariatric surgery teams are the ones that realize that what happens after the surgery is just as important as the surgery.
ProudGrammy replied to Missouri-Lee's Summit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@Missouri-Lee's Summit very true. - if your team is there for you after WLS that's great. Help with nutrition, etc. They should be there, help/support advise. But maybe you need to initiate the visits/follow ups with the group for them to help you. Unfortunately - my "team" wasn't there for me. It was more like "slam, bam, thank you ma'am. 😞 i called my NUT, she had left the team. Transferred to new NUT - she didn't seem to care. Luckily with the help of this board and OP - i have survived the past 7+ years PO well. Hopefully most people have those great "surgery teams" that i missed out on kathy
