How much did you guys lose in the first month?
ProudGrammy replied to ldean7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ldean7 @@emtscott54 , speaks only the truth - couldn't have said it better myself now a silly tv story/joke caught an old episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show on tvland series is at least 30 years old - many of you weren't born!!!! boy do i feel old mary was talking to her friend Rhoda (who is overweight) she offered rhoda something to eat rhoda said no thanx, i have to loose 15 lbs by 8:00 pm for my date!!! think there's a little analogy there one day at a time you'll get there "God Grant Me Patience Just Hurry Up About It" fellow students might enjoy watching/ being with you through your transformation they might say, ahhhhhh, i remember him when!!! good luck kathy -
@@viv57 sounds like you just starting the process??? if you aren't having surgery for a few months it would be great to loose some weight the more you loose before surgery, obviously the less you have to loose PO i don't "think" you get credit for that weight loss, (except from me ) but its great to start loosing once you start to work with your surgeon, he will tell you (probably) that you must loose 5% or 10% of your present weight before he will perform surgery this is the time I "think" you would get "credit" toward your weight loss with insurance/doc if you weigh 250 lbs you must loose 12.5 lbs (5%) or 25 lbs (10%) or insurance might require that loss??? don't know what your height/weight = BMI is??? their have been earlier discussion of people having a "lower" BMI then being scared of not weighing enough to continue to be approved for surgery!!! But many people have lower BMI's and have been approved if you don't weigh enough, co-morbities too - might not be approved for surgery crazy that insurance WANTS us to be heavier, sicker, more co-morbities woo hoo you are in terrible shape, now you can have surgery!!! crazy, crazy world/insurance have fun jumping through the hoops good luck kathy

ProudGrammy replied to anna0322's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@anna0322 hey kiddo remember, remember this allll sleevers (et al) react differently to weight loss how long it will take to loose you will find people loose weight quicker than you others loose weight slower than you throughout the day, weeks, months ahead most people will have a few stalls throughout their loosing process some people don't loose weight after surgery (Water retention, some stay the same weight, i've even heard some people might gain a few lbs you've lost 10 lbs in 8 days that' terrific Really get some kleenex dry your pretty eyes i didn't go to bed on december 11, 2011 - and wake up the next morning 105 lbs lighter over the years i gained lots of weight - my highest weight - DOS was 235 lbs i'm only 5'3 some people loose that much weight quicker - others take longer some people think they will wake up post up in a few days 100 lbs will be gone doesn't work that way took me many years to gain that weight it took me almost a year to loose the weight with the "assistance" of the sleeve some people will loose that weight quicker, others longer "God Grant Me Patience but hurry up about it" you'll have ups and downs over the next few months Deal With It!!! Get over it!!! keep doing what you are doing continue to follow ALL the rules you are doing great!!! kathy -

gastric sleeve post 3 years out
ProudGrammy replied to Reynea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Reynea sorry this is very long - so long you can maybe drink your 64 oz now hi there don't dwell on the past done and over with!!!! can't change anything you now need to only concentrate on the present and be excited about your future i am here to give you encouragement and say good for you that you realize you must get back on the schtick!! were you successful losing any weight? when people go back to their old eating ways, its usually said to go back to basics with your Protein drink. drink lllllots of Water too do you still have a nut you can speak with???? but you stopped seeing her?????? will insurance cover seeing nut at least a few more times ??? if not - can your pocketbook handle a few visits?? a couple of times??? i think that would be helpful you took a big step by "showing" yourself here asking for help and advice that can/is hard to do good for you do you remember all the rules??? eat protein first measure your food keep track of any and everything you eat in MFP for example water rules are extremely important drink at least 64+ oz water a day stop drinking about 1/2 hour before you eat do not drink at all while you are eating do not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat get minimal amount of carbs and sugar too use small utensils, small plates this will help "fool" you that you are eating more than you really are put utensil down between bites i was told to stop drinking any soda (diet too) no more straws coffee was limited at first for me then i could have a little but coffee rules are different all over the place do what you were told, or told now by a nut there are other rules too, my brain is too tired to remember right now never compare yourself, weight loss, to others you will lose at your own pace you will probably have stalls try not to let that get you too down - happens to the best of us (easier said than done) take your measurements every 3 weeks or so sometimes you might not have lost weight for awhile but inches are going down (and so are your clothes sizes) if you can get a nut - even for a brief time listen only to YOUR Nut - what he/she tells you all NUTS and docs give different advice if their is a support group around that would be great to go to you are starting over meeting others in your stage would be helpful it would be nice to meet others in the same stage that you are talk with post oppers too, they can help i'm sorry you got off track, but you can find your way back i know you can My NUT/dr told me "eat til i'm full, then stop two bites earlier" i don't know if or where your restriction is i definitely would stop eating by the measurements of your food don't trust the sleeve telling you to stop, not at this time work hard with the sleeve, and the sleeve will work hard with you i know you want to be successful and i know you can be ball is in your court - hit it out of the park what do have to "loose"?? good luck kathy -

Telling your employer about surgery

I have heard some people used the "I need my gall bladder removed" or some other false problem - i would not say that my opinion, just my opinion - the truth can/will somehow slip out eventually/ at some time in the future you have about 5+ months before you have surgery call docs office now try to fix your appt times for early in morning or end of day?? hopefully at least a few appts can be adjusted good luck with surgery kathy -
