Anyone that has stopped taking medication
ProudGrammy replied to mstrice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mstrice oh dear, another long post from me interesting timing of this post - saw my doc yesterday blood pressure and diabetes are both usually helped by WLS (lower the dosage, or have med removed totally) i was taken off my blood pressure and diabetes meds shortly after sleeve (5 years ago) my epilepsy dosage was cut in 1/2 after a year!!! (biggest unexpected NSV) i told dr yesterday i thought we needed to talk about my BP and diabetes both #'s have been going up i did go back on BP meds a few months ago - doc agreed i now need to take more my diabetes meds should also be restarted doc "thinks" epilepsy meds should remain the same, no prob doing blood work once a month for the next year - gotta make sure no problems with seizures the above is about ME only many OP won't have to ever take meds again or will have a lower dosage sleeve has been around for a llllllong time initially did it to help OP with stomach cancer docs were realizing people were losing lots of weight PO docs then decided to make sleeve a WLS as time passes, more stats will be available from the sleeve (since they want more time for averages/stats) docs might realize that meds might have to be restarted for some don't mean to be a doubting dora just saying stuff i heard (if i'm mistaken please don't throw Protein shakes or bars at me ) good luck with surgery kathy -
@@blu2020 hey dude, don't spaz out this early in the game!!! you'll have plenty of time later!!! your surgery was September 2nd how are things going now?? calmed down a bit?? inquiry minds want to know good luck kathy

Help! Please answer if you know!
ProudGrammy replied to MommyB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@MommyB i do think @@hbrhonda is correct she's such a smartie!! call the insurance company later don't have to rush you'll find out soon enough expect the worst, hope for the best you were expecting to pay for additional hospital visit if it turns out they do pay some, that's great "icing" on the cake you've been through a lot time to think of yourself first!! take yourself off back burner you belong up front if you have family kids/DH or SO etc it's their turn to be there for YOU give you help!!! wait on you!! take care of yourself now walk a little, rest, sleep - drink properly you have a great attitude post surgery you are now experiencing pain/dealing with infection realizing and accepting that you will feel better in time feel better sooner than later sending good vibes good luck kathy -
How likely is one to get denied?
ProudGrammy replied to ecoreen94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ecoreen94 i'll respond the "other" way bmi of 40 or more bmi less, must have co-morbities documentation of history showing attempts of weight loss (WW, Jenny Craig etc) and weight over the years physical problems like high blood pressure/diabetes you need to have some of the above documentation (past weights, attempts) i think are necessary to get approved (i'm sure i forgot something) hoping to get approved for WLS "More is More" "they" want you to have lots of problems crazy isn't it positive thoughts being sent your way fingers, toes, eyes, nose crossed!!! good luck bud kathy -
@@heidiboo ahhhhh bud always nice to share with your friends you look lovely you shine bright i just ran and put my sunglasses on!! keep up the good work for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life i know you will kathy congrats

@@finding_onederland i luv, luv, luv my Orville Redenbocker Kettle Corn but, it doesn't love me!! bag doesn't say "do not use popcorn button" never gets burned, tastes yummy these past few months- i ate a lotttt of popcorn!! 100 calories a bag, big deal, not bad right? WRONG (for me)so many carbs!!! i don't always pay enough attention to carbs i am pretty sure alllll the popcorn i ate (daily) 2 bags sometimes!!!! contributed to my couple of added inches popcorn is my main yummy that i can't control myself like Lay's Potato chips, i can't just have one i like to say, "knowing the problem is 1/2 the solution" you can look and look in fear of being shot you won't find any popcorn in my house that's my answer, and i'm stickin' to it good luck kathy

@@BobScott "what do you regret", what you wish you had done pre or post-op the above has often been asked amongst each other my 3 big regrets 1. didn't take frequent before/during/and after pics 2. didn't take my measurements (tried, never did it right with finding #'s) hubby even tried (he's very trying!!!! LOL) 3. No Journal has always been my biggest regret keeping a journal (blog) is very helpful it's good to be reminded of the "little" things for posterity!!! can't always rely on your memory i wish i had kept track of things during this experience all my NSV's - dates they happened etc at one year surgiversary, i said i would start a journal (blog) that was almost 4 years ago!!! never happened @@BobScott wonderful weight loss/transformation keep up the good work please post more often, share the good and bad and of course all advice is appreciated kathy congrats -

Diabetes...lower A1C post-op anyone?
ProudGrammy replied to ginabee38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
diabetes removed from medical record as a health concern. @@ginabee38 no meds shortly after sleeve 5 years ago A1C last month, was 5.1 !!! doc also says i will always be "considered" diabetic even though i'm fine without meds controlled with food/diet there are benefits saying you are diabetic!!! (in remission) sounds crazy i know my insurance pays for certain things wouldn't usually be covered podiatrist - i get my toenails clipped for free no pedicure though sob sob he checks for neuropothy (msp) i get one pair of free shoes yearly (they know you could have corns, hammer nails) bunions (had those on occasion ) i'm also able to go to optometrist for yearly check-ups (blindness etc can happen being diabetic) sooooo, guess you can look/find good in the bad the sicker we are/more co-morbidities we have the easier it is for insurance to approve us more is more!! (hmmmm) life can be so strange sorry i went off on a tangent ooooops - almost forgot i get a new Ford Focus every 3 years because i'm diabetic!! nawwww, but it would be cool LOL kathy -
