@Smores ahhhhh, wonderful news you sound very excited!! liquid diet is a pre-op diet that many go through. muddle through it, shrink your liver and your weight. your new life is beginning. follow all the many rules your NUT and surgeon give you water, protein, carbs etc. are very important Words to live by. good luck kathy

Reintroduction
ProudGrammy replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@Nurse_Lenora i remember you sorry you gained some weight. important thing is you are acknowledging that you have/ had a problem. doing liquids now is a great jump start to loose some weight at a rapid speed. (making you feel good) then continue with all that you learned as a newbie. (water, protein, etc.) turn around -support is always near by good luck kathy -
Saying it outloud
ProudGrammy replied to ridingrae's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@ridingrae "knowing the problem is half the solution" what's worse than gaining 15 lbs? answer - gaining 16 lbs.!! i've been there, done that over the years if i were in your position, i would have 3 shakes a day, or 2 shakes a day w/light meal. basically a liquid diet. i would do this for 5 days, or 7 or............... this should/will help you loose weight - give you a quick jump start. then continue to eat and drink like you learned as a newbie. these suggestions are easy for me to write. unfortunately, not simple to follow. with determination and strength, you can be a success. yes, this IS tough. you know what to do - you just need a kick in the arse to get you started!! LOL ready, set, go, and you are off!! good luck kathy -

@RSM all my docs had a list of my medicines pre-op i take a lot of pills AM then a lot more PM a couple of meds are "horse pills" absorption problems aren't applicable to the sleeve. (covering my assss to say usually not) but there shouldn't be a problem. malabsorption (msp) is usually referred to in gastric bypass surgery. good luck kathy

5 years after surgery. Are you maintaining or gaining?
ProudGrammy replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Happily ever after @**Janie** "they" say it's easy to lose weight. (years past before WLS) (i don't think that is true, but that's another story) keeping it off is the hard part - that's one reason we have WLS. many OP will drink protein shakes to give them that jump start, and to help bring weight down. if you don't remember all the rules, then ask for a refresher course/help. no need to be embarrassed! IMO water is the most important "rule" - plenty of liquids, (64 oz.) never drink during meals, and don't drink for at least 30 minutes after you eat. eat more protein (chicken, fish etc.) watch the carbs. always measure your food - moderation is very important. put food on small plates, use small utensils. (effective, but head game) eat, chew sllllowly, chewing thoroughly, be patient with this process. don't compare yourself to OP. ie - some OP lose weight quicker than others, more lbs too!! this is not a race!! but, ready set gggggo!! (i am "watching" you!!) LOL - Get back to work!!! - NOW!! good luck kathy -
