    Heartburn

@Dabearo congrats on losing 95 lbs, that's great!!! don't understand why doc would want to take you off heartburn meds? do the meds control your heartburn?/help a little??- tums are a Band-Aid aid, not a cure!! i can count on two hands, how often i've had heartburn. it is really miserable!! i can't imagine having it on a regular basis. unfortunately , the sleeve and heartburn sometimes do go "hand in hand"!! talk to doc again, you are the patient! tell him your strong feelings. he can't MAKE you stop the meds. (if he has a good reason, ask him to explain, and then you two discuss) good luck congrats on your weight loss kathy

    Restriction??

@Melesg you are asking me a question that happened almost 6 years ago!!??? LOL i'm lucky to remember something that happened almost 6 minutes ago i was eating solids at around 5-6 weeks PO. it's a great idea keeping a log/record book. daily basis, write things down related to your WLS. ie problems, successes - and in betweens. very helpful. Then, 6 years from now when a cutie petuti newbie asks you a question, just go back to your log. Or of course, just ask me LOL keep up the good job good luck bud kathy

    Restriction??

@Melesg liquids, go smoothly down the hatch. they will not give you any restriction - doc never put me on puree' - (my request) not sure about puree/and restriction when you start gradually eating solids - you should/will feel that restriction we love congrats on your early success continued good luck kathy

    new poster sick

@chris1985 hey dude/aka newbie!!! I agree @Diana_in_Philly - eating too fast is very bad. you must slllllow it down. chew into small bites, THEN swallow. No gulping allowed!! (people have been shot for less!!) use small (baby) utensils, that will help FORCE you to eat slowly. put utensil down between bites. then start again with eating. DON'T drink any water while you are eating anything! don't drink 30 minutes before you eat, then wait 30 minutes after you eat til you drink. find a support group in your area. (doc should help you/or office) maybe you could make a friend, then you can help each other. this board is very helpful, informative. continue to ask your questions, you'll there are bariatric books with recipes too. one example is Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies lots of information on various web sites!! KNOWLEDGE is POWER!! Good luck - kathy

  10. @Phobia42 upping your calories, drinking more water and exercising are the typical good responses. these probably will help a stall. btw . - an OFFICIAL stall is 3 weeks without weight loss. a stall can occur anytime while you are loosing weight. after following the above advise - you probably will lose weight, but it just might happen to "be your time to drop the weight" - (with or with out changing certain things) its good to be mentally prepared for a possible stall - but don't over think or worry/dwell about it good luck newbie kathy

    Abbreviations

@James Marusek i think you started this list 3 years ago?? repeat it annually for newbies et al. you do this wonderful "service". before YOUR time it took me awhile to learn that NUT referred to a nutritionist, not a crazy person, or something to eat maybe we could add DW/DH for dear wife/dear husband - OP - other person - WLS - weight loss surgery - always room for new abbreviations - any one want to speak up. you are a heck of a nice guy - aces - contributing to the board with good info/thoughts/suggestions/support. thanx kathy

Cereal and the soft foods diet

@Sosewsue61 my NUT told me about the cereal but I agree with your analogy too once again shows alll NUTS are not created equally - your soup sounds great, i'll come over next time you want to share and talk thanx for "setting me straight" kathy

    ooooops dup sorry

    Band to sleeve - reflux

@hopingforamiracle if you had reflux prior to surgery, strong possibility you will get reflux again with sleeve. if you get the sleeve and have too many issues with reflux - many OP are now revising to gastric bypass. reflux should be taken care of with revision. you were advised to have bypass (by surgeon?) that's also a good reason to do the bypass. good luck kathy
  20. ProudGrammy

Cereal and the soft foods diet

I will say NO i love cereal Special K has 10gr protein - milk 6gr of protein carbs 19gr - sugars 7gr calories 120 - milk 40 when you add milk to cereal you are - per MY NUT having liquid w/a meal (like having water w/a meal) ah, ah, ah - not supposed to "eat and drink" being almost 6 years old VET- i will have the occasional treat of milk and cereal together - but it's not the best choice, especially for newbies do as i say, not as i do!!! kathy

    1 week post op

@Deegil good for you!!! off to a great start you sound and should be very excited. keep up the good work kathy congrats
  22. @itstimealready keeping your old clothes, IMO gives you an "OK"/permission to wear the clothes again, IF you gain weight (which you won't/shouldn't) keeping your old clothes,. its like setting yourself up for a fall. you figure you MIGHT gain weight, oh well, i still have my fat clothes!! IMO - get rid of those big clothes don't be a pessimist that you will gain weight. be an optimist that you will remain at your new, smaller self. 84 lbs down, very close to goal!!!! woo hoo lots to be proud of - keep up the good job! kathy congrats
  23. @Katie Loesch-Meyer my mom "introduced" me to sweet 'n low when i was a teenager. she said it had no calories, and would help me loose weight. Been hooked on sweet ' low ever since. no side effects, cravings etc. good luck to you kathy

    Help, Please.

@Elise24 - i'm sure you are following all the rules, working hard. the weight should/will come off - hopefully sooner than later. things are "temporarily" not going your way. continue to do what you are doing - the # on the scale should/will move as time passes - take your measurements - you might be losing in your waist, hips etc. (instead of the scale) it can be hard sometimes to read how a person is writing something on the computer. we talk to a monitor directly. you can't see how the OP is talking to you. things can be mis-read, misunderstood. you asked nicely for suggestions to help you i think IMO he didn't say anything wrong @SuperDave meant no harm, was just voicing his thoughts, trying to help he lost 195 lbs!! GOAL, he's worked hard too, and was just trying to help a fellow person out. no ill intent meant or said.we ARE here to support each other/help. - give info etc . i think that's what he did. spirits up, while your your weight goes down!!! @SuperDave congrats on losing 195 lbs!! that's great!! @Elise24 best of luck for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life. kathy
