Hello New To The Site :)
ProudGrammy replied to Anamor2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi anna welcome to the board. we are all here for lots of support, and hopefully answer or give you the floor to ask any questions. If the question needs more medical response than we will advice you to call your doctor. By the way its a small world, my DOS is also 12/15/11 - how about that?! Talk to you later, get acquainted with us, don't be shy, and see you at the Water cooler. best kathy -
Julie just wanted to say hello and welcome you aboard. You are obviously doing very well and impressed with the sleeve, recommending it to family. Its great to see such enthusiasm (msp?) on the board. continued best wishes kathy

my mom thinks my weight loss surgery will be complete over a weekend and i will have lost almost 100lbs. i tried to explain to her about the surgery, how the weight doesn't fall off overnight, and we have to work at keeping the weight off forever. She still doesn't understand and thinks i will be thin forever, no problems or working at it, to succeed. keeping the weight loss. She said "i've only lost 40 lbs" I never should have told her. i told my dh and daughter, they are fine about the whole process and understand anyone else have similar situations? kathy

Symotoms Of A Leak?!?!
ProudGrammy replied to bella143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since i read about fears and questions about leaks on the board, i also am terrified. the main reason is i'm so scared is that my dr. said a leak can happen at any time down the road, and you are not responsible for it happening. i think he said something like that. but probably it won't happen.......but.......?good luck to us all - hope i didn't scare anyone, but myself! kathy -
Am I The Only One? Yucky Puree
ProudGrammy replied to susiegotsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was so very lucky, my NUT didn't require a pureed stage. even saying the word makes me sick. Aggggg kathy -
i know this subject has been brought up before, i just don't remember the answer, sorry. I seem to frequently "belch" during the day. I'm just eating a protein bar now, only about 1/2 way through, and I belched. Does anyone else have that feeling? Does this mean i am supposed to stop eating cuz i am tecnically full cuz i belched? thanx kathy

i never understand this. when someone asks how you lost your weight, your reply of eating less, excercise, this is all true, end of sentence. if i were to add the explanation of the WLS. thats when people might roll their eyes thinking "oh the easy way out".....very few understand how much work this new lifesyle is going to be that we chose. how much work we'll do from now...thats why i don't usually talk about the surgery remember people think we usually get great results over night... you know, go to work on friday, return to work on monday being all thin we know how things really work,,,but others don't understand. but our benefits...oh how wonderful are they?!!! kathy

i don't think oprah is willing to change her lifestyle/eating ways to have the sleeve done. I think she loves food so much, like we all do, she is basically saying the hell with it - i am who i am and thats her choice. Her decision, so thats fine for her. BTW i'm not slamming Oprah, at 4:00 every day i used to watch her. As far as kirstie, i also think it is too much of a committment/the sleeve for her to change. I think she will continue to try to lose weight though. Oprah & Kirstie both at that age, 58/60 that they think oh well its just too hard to keep losing this weight and then maintain the weight loss -and i'm just too tired of trying to maintain the weight loss, of course thats crazy, btw i'm 58 BTW i think its so funny how we talk about oprah and kirstie like they are our best buddies of course all above IMO disclaimer included kathy

katybsorry for the frustrating delay you are taking things very well, by seeing the good instead of the bad in this situation, now being able to give yourself more time for your pre-op. Way to go talk to you later best wishes kathy

I've Been Approved! Surgery Date Is 3 Weeks Away! Yipeee!
ProudGrammy replied to slimthickens's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hey slimthickens and waitnaway patience, patience - your sleeve day is right around the corner. how wonderful for you. a whole new beautiful world is right in front of you, and your journey begins.... good wishes good luck kathy -
my surgeon persuaded me to have the sleeve instead of the lapband The way so many people on this board talk about the bad effects of the lap band - then changing to the sleeve, for physical reasons, or the band just wasn't that successful - it sounds to me that the band is on its way out the door, and might become extinct one day,. Does anyone else have the same thoughts? just wondering kathy

It's More Than Just Losing The Weight
ProudGrammy replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi kathy congrats on kicking the habit of smoking, it must have been so difficult...and your journey with smoking and food addiction will continue for the rest of your life. just think, since you can kicked the vice of smoking you can do anything. you were addicted to nicotine physically, mentally - and you quit smoking after so many years, such a long time WooHoo i do feel eating all this nasty food is quite an addiction too - so you'll conquer this also. an accomplishment in its different way. We all have this eating addiction, thats our common bond. give yourself quite a pat on the back pedal away kathy
