Weaning Off Anti-Depressants?
ProudGrammy replied to DanityChai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i have taken Cymbolta for the past 2 yrs. i was trying to wean myself off it. Just didn't want to take the meds anymore. I became very dizzy, and even fell a couple of times. I then put myself back on the meds. I then told my dr. about what i did, and we both decided i should go back on the Cymolata. I just felt a little bit of a stigma to take the med, of course i know i shouldn't feel any stigma. Plus i now know that you shouldn't do anything without medical assistance. After a similar discussion as up above, my therapist said: Half the world sees a therapist, the other half should kathy -
Babypinkoo2 hey kiddo, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. as far as drinking, you are doing absolutely terrific. Many people would be jealous of your liquid accomplishments. you are supposed to drink as much as you can ALL DAY, Protein mix, Water, broth, popsicles. You are doing great. you having no pain, great recovery - be happy for yourself. good luck til your next stage. If everything goes as well as above - i see smooth sailing for you. Congratulations best kathy

hi, my NUT told me, NO,NO,NO to soda - that being said i am only 3 + months since WLS - but the NUT said due to the carbonation - i should not drink soda now, who knows maybe down the road some soda will be allowed. the truth is i am one of those martians that desn't really like soda anyways. oh well kathy.

there are people that weigh each other daily or every few days - that could be dangerous with all the fluculations and stuff. I finally disciplined myself to get on the scale every monday after my shower. That way, i'm always wearing the same "outfit" kathy

even though boxed broth has a lot of sodium my NUT said it was fine to drink at this point, i love it, drank alot ! and still drink it sometimes. but i also could not keep shakes down, so i only could drink, H20 as much as i could, but it was still hard to drink those first few days for me. enjoy your recovery and new journey down the road. kathy

Any 3Rd Shifters Out There?
ProudGrammy replied to diochick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
diochick don't question not having the urge not to eat.IMO that says you previouly had head hunger, just eating away for no reason except you were maybe bored and just ate by habit, nothing else to do. this can last with your help. try hard to continue this new habit of not eating and enjoy losing weight and gaing happiness. best of luck kathy -
hi azsleever you are never too old to have WLS. i am 58 years young. Three months ago, i had the surgery, and i'm so glad i did. Like others, i wish i had this surgery many, many years ago, As they say, better late than never. So glad you didn't have any complications, sounds like are progressing well. I hope you get more support from family et al. FYI There is a board here for ages 60's if you are interested. (i have visited) But I hope you stay here too for questions and support. Congrats on your new sleeve continued good luck and good wishes kathy

There was a "big discussion on" the board yesterday regarding corn, can we eat or not - the general concensis (msp) was yes, its ok to eat- also why do you say no to carrots and green Beans? thanx lissa

i was under the impression we shouldn't eat any bread/toast - am i wrong kathy
-
Leederz After a discussion w/my NUT - she said, you shouldn't eat for about 15 minutes before a meal. But......the rule about not drinking during a meal is very important. Then after the meal you can't drink for 45 minutes. All this is per my NUT, - all NUTS are different so follow the rules per your NUT. kathy kathy

Hi Carly There are people that do post that they don't understand why they are still hungry. Luckily i am not one of those people. We had 85% of our stomach taken out. The ghrelin hormone (produced in stomach) stimulates the brain, increasing your appetite, - during the surgery, the hormore is removed curbing your hunger, so do you don't want to eat as much. this is start to the answer of your question about ghrehlin - others please help me out with a better explanation. kathy

I Had My Sleeve Done December 15Th 2011 Im 3 Months Post-Op Is Anyone Else 3 Mo Post-Op If So How Are You Doing?
ProudGrammy replied to Lucky Lady 702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lucky lady702 i also had WLS on 12/15/11 too -we're sleeve slisters, i've lost 47.9 lbs.. hmmmm...9 lbs more than you my NUT told me you can't really stretch your sleeve out. That's good, what a relief. i'm doing pretty well - don't have any problem w/eating. I am allowed exactly 1/3 of a cup food per meal by my NUT. I can usually eat the whole 1/3 measuring cup, but sometimes i actually stop early cuz i''m full. Made chili the other day and dipped my 1/3 measuring cup into chili pot - does that sound right to youi? what did your NUT tell you to do? anything simiilar? I know all NUTS are different. I've found one meal that my sleeve doesn't like. the other day i tried luncheon meat rolled up w/a lttle cream cheese. no, no, no. - sleeve rebelled. didn't get sick or anything, i just wasn't feeling terrific. My very big problem is that i have trouble drinking enough Water. that is really hard for me, i try but i don't succeed. i know how important it is, so i am working at it. your fellow sleeve sister keep well kathy -

hi iliana82 i can some what relate to being down in the dumps from WLS, i just wanted to respond to say i care. from your profile i see you are going through very hard health problems, so i'm sure this understandably adds to your sad feelings. As far as your weight goes, your off to a great start by seeing a trainer, excercisng. You've already lost a bunch of weight. Congrats on that. I'm sure you are working on eating better, thus the sleeve, healthy and improving yourself inside and out. i am lucky enough to have insurance cover for paying a therapist. Are you able to seek the help of a therapist? Maybe a pastor, rabbi? Please post again, Good luck - we are all here for support concerning our WLS. Please take care best wishes kathy
