foxbins & ldydrgkpr hello ladies the info from you "seasoned" sleevers that the sleeve will continue to work as long as we work with it, is just what i hoped to hear. We've had it drummed into us that the sleeve is only a "tool" - we must use it to the best of its capability, and be responsible for ourselves Eating and drinking correctly is always very important. And of course never, never, never and ever, over..........indulge. best wishes your fellow sleever thanx so much for you help and response kathy ps. did i say above correctly? pps - any other "seasoned" sleevers are welcome to jump in. Don't be shy

Bummed - 67 Pounds Lost And I Look Just The Same
ProudGrammy replied to Cherrybomb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
cherry Don't get down on yourself. 67 lbs OMG sounds like as you got bigger before, your clothes were too tight (which would only make sense). Now that you weigh so much less - you fit into those clothes better. Not tight anymore because you lost all that weight. Sounds funny, maybe you just don't remember how you fit in clothes, and don't realize how much better they look now. Soon, you will see those sizes go down. Don't worry, causing yourself to go crazy and depressed. Things will work out. Your clothes will "adjust" you lost 67 lbs. girlfriend, you will see results. OMG 67 lbs is terrific, you are doing great, no matter what your clothes temporarily say. You must calm down, you don't want to get so upset that you will return to bad habits. good luck, you'll be fine kathy -
hi sallynew welcome again from Egypt. We love to see you. Its amazing how many people from all over the world have the sleeve, and find this board too. Do you graze during the day? eat, and then eat shortly after your stomach is empty again? Then eat some more? Eat some more..... you get it. My dr. says if you eat during the day on and off like above, when your stomach is empty, you could "eventually" stretch your sleeve. if you ate too much for a couple of days, well thats not the greatest - but you didn't stretch your sleeve. Nothing happened . Just get back on the wagon, and try and stay there. But we all have times of weakness. You'll do fine best wishes kathy

Sleeping On Your Back
ProudGrammy replied to sleepysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi sleepysleever i always sleep on my right side. I can no way, no how sleep on my back . When i got home from the hospital i positioned myself on right side. i was in pain, grinned and beared it. I hurt alot. But i had no choice. i fell asleep pretty quickly i guess, don't really remember though. After three days i improved slightly every day. By the fourth day i was sleeping on my right side in happiness and peace. Ahhhhhhhh i guess i was lucky i hope you will be able to sleep on your side soon too good luck kathy -
hi fancypants congrats on all your hard work getting to goal. I've wondered how people do after a year or earlier, once they get to goal. How effective is the sleeve? If not as effective as when you started - how is it now - does it still help you eat less? Please give any info about how the sleeve works after a period of time. would love to hear from anyone else here who is somewhat of a "seasoned member". thanx kathy

Cpap - Will I Ever Get Used To This ?
ProudGrammy replied to Odee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hi Odde, I have used my CPAP for the past 2 yrs or so. My DOS was 12/15/11. My CPAP went over the nose. It was a little hard to wear at first, also was feeling a little sufficated, but got used to it pretty quickly. Within the month after surgery i was off the CPAP machine. I am so happy to be off that da...machine. There are many things that can or will improve after WLS. In my case, i came off all my diabetes meds. and insulin, blood pressure meds too. and of course the CPAP machine. Other stuff to follow. Some of this hopefully will happen for you too. After your WLS - maybe you can stop the CPAP too., along with other things Best to you kathy -
I Don't Know How You Did It?
ProudGrammy replied to FatGirlSlim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
FatGirlSlim hi there, welcome to the board. It seems like forever that we have to wait before WLS i know. I have heard some people are really lucky and get surgery quickly after approval, but i think thats few and far between. Oh well. I had been waiting over a month or so for surgery. DOS was all set for 12/6/11. I was called a couple of days before surgery and i was told surgery needed to be re-scheduled. Oh nooooo. i was so upset. DOS was now 12/15/11 - not too bad but....... Back to you!!!! I didn't have any secret in waiting - i just had to do it!!! Actually, its hard to believe but the last few days before surgery, i thought of so many things to keep me busy. Don't have kids, accept DH i was anticipating being sore and weak after coming home from WLS so i wanted to get some stuff done. I colored my hair and got a haircut too! before surgery.....bunch of other little stuff too., just can't remember Time will pass, i know thats easier said then done. Must be patient in your wait, will be worth it. in the end. Best wishes kathy -
hi fellow sleevers this morning after my shower, i dropped my towel. I bent down to pick it up, and i realized i went straight down without bending my knees. I said to myself, hmmmm what is different, i said haaaa, i usually have to bend my knees and squat a bit to pick something up. But now that i didn't have that big ol' tummy in the way, no bending. kathy

Lizbeth congrats on your 1 month anniversary and your weight loss, with many more to come. I agree that it is very hard to deal with the scale. I've heard some people say they actually step on the scale more than once a day - egads. I was getting on the scale every other day, i finally put the scale in the closet, out of harms way - i do get on the scale now once a week. That works for me. Some people with real patience only go on the scale every 2 weeks, or even once a month We know that all NUT'S are all different - have their own rules, but....my NUT says to eat only 3 meals a day. No Snacks at all, even though they might be healthy. She says having snacks is like grazing, which of course we don't want, and eating snacks and spreading out food during the day and night, is the habit we're all supposed to break. Thats just what MY NUT says. good luck kathy

600 # Man Cut From His Home, So Very Sad
ProudGrammy replied to former_vbg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
former_vbg yes it is so sad to read articles like this one - a 600 lb man. In this extreme situation, we know that someone must be "helping" him by being an enabler, which is no good either. This man desparately needs serious, serious help. Possibly at the hospital something can be discussed. (social worker) We know he couldn't be living in any type of good environment - hazordaus (msp) to his well being. Things must be dealt with to assist him in some sort of recovery - i don't have an answer - but hopefully someone else can connect him to being helped. He can't go on living this way. No one should suffer like this. The cruel statements that are made, one person on the comment board (from an article about this story) said the man probably asked to make a stop at burger king before they arrived to the hospital. These remarks are so terrible - we've all been there, not to such an extreme but none the less...... These remarks are so terrible - we've all been there, not to such an extreme but none the less...... I hope this man, and others like him do get help soon, these people don't just eat all day enjoying their life. They do need help so they can enjoy their life. kathy. -
How Do I Let My Job Know?
ProudGrammy replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
[quote name='Sandra_Baby87' timestamp='1334245856' post='31131 still on probation technically. can they let me go? Sandra, First you should go to your immediate supervisior and tell them about your pending surgery. I don't think they are really allowed to ask you what your surgery is, but since you are a new employee, if she asks - then tell her. She'll give you all the necessary paperwork. Also i would go to her prepared with note from dr. regarding the surgery. She would request that anyways, so having it ahead of time might be a good idea. Yes, express that you are really sorry but---this surgery is now all set etc. etc. i don't think they would let you go. They might ask you "if you were aware of this date when you had your interview, why didn't you tell them" Tell them of course you didn't have a date etc. etc. See how the discussion goes, go with the flow. Hope she/he is understanding, hope all goes well. Best of luck to you at work and surgery Good luck kathy -

hi soon to be sleever all sleevers react to foods differently. some people might have no problem eating anything at all. The sleeve loves all food. I was pretty much in that category but the other day i was making a veal stew in the crock pot, and i snitched 2 small raw carrots. Oh no, the sleeve protested against those nasty raw carrots. - but cooked in the stew, no problem...hmmmmm, go figure. Oh, the other day i had some pickle, oh no, sleeve said "no no no - stop" pre-surgery i loved pickles. again, I can't tell you what food might upset your stomach after you have had your surgery. What one sleeve might not like, another persons sleeve likes that food. Your sleeve will tell you in its own sweet time. good luck on your surgery kathy
