Knee Replacement Surgery Tomorrow
ProudGrammy replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dorrie, Awwwww shucks. you are so sweet. yeah, i'm pretty nervous about whats gonna happen to me post surgery. All that rehab & PT are the pits. Why can't we just snap are fingers and make everything all gone, no more pain i know it doesn't work that way been going to ALL my doctors this past week, so i wouldn't have more apptointment for a while. after i came home. Only place i plan on going post surger is PT. Appt. will be after 4:00 pm so my DH can take me to appt. today went to the podiatrist, my toesnail cut are so pretty They will put the lift in my new sneaker once i come home from rehab. Left leg has been shorter past couple of years, due to falls causing my femur to break twice. anyways.... thats why i use a lift in my shoe to compensate the left leg being shorter, or the right one being longer - depends on how you look at is bring the surgery on, as they say - break a leg couldn't resist kathy -

Rejoice! Medicare & Medicade Coverage For Vsg Is Currently Under Medical Review!
ProudGrammy replied to Greg_P's topic in Insurance & Financing
when i had my WLS,12/15/11 medicare did not accept the sleeve. so i luckily had a secondary ins. that did accept it fully. i believe that the lapband & gastric bypass have been approved for quite a while. i have heard from many on the board that the sleeve is not accepted yet - but they are in the process of continually looking at it, and hopefully will have a positive decision in a matter of months approving the sleeve good luck to all w/medicare on the brain. kathy -

hi could someone please explain to me where on my fitness plan/and how to put your name # to find you and then your diaries. then what do i push to chat. thanx a bunch kathy -
gmanbat thats so great that you were able to find more "form fitting" clothes. i am actually still "afraid" to go shopping. Afraid something i try on won't fit, and then i'll be disappointed. a couple of weeks ago, i tried a pair of jeans on in about 3 sizes less than normal. They totally fit, but i didn''t want to spend money on something that won't fit soon. maybe i will stretch my wallet and buy the jeans anyways. it is exciting fitting into new clothes - hard to believe thats you in the mirror. Who is that person? bet you're happy to be seeing less of you. keep on keepin on kathy

Dorri Two months (valentines day) post op i had to go to the ER to get IV fluids. I was dehydrated ,at home i couldn't get any food or liquid down. I have important meds that i must take 2x a day - and the weren't staying down, so it was imperative that i get hydrated. i was vomitting and also had the dry heaves , no fun. I had to spend the night in the hospital, that was a bummer. They continued the IV fluids. When i was home the next day i felt better and was able to drink slowly , sip sip. As far as "coping" i just drank and sipped til things improved. But I was not a happy camper felt better in a couple of days. I also have trouble getting my required Water in daily, but i sure try harder now that i know what dehydration is, so i guess i learned my lesson too. By now, hopefully you are feeling better. stay well kathy

After Sleeve Gastrectomy...the Journey Begins!
ProudGrammy replied to kimmyd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Jenngirl, it is not unrealic, there are some people on the board who have to lose around that amount too. There also is a section/thread on the board with groups of people having to lose wt like 50 lbs. 100 lbs. etc. You are capable of definitely capable to lose 185 lbs with the proper "work and diligence, willpower" that we all must have. please don't give up before you started. It will take awhile to get to your final destination, make small goals, and you WILL be successful best of luck kathy -
Meli1234, Woohoo - doing the sleeve dance. woohoo - congrats doesn't matter how long it takes to get to a certain destination, but i think we would all like it sooner than later keep up the good work kathy

ProudGrammy replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi SpaceyCasey Sorry you were so sick and uncomfortable for such a long time - glad you are now feeling better. on the other hand losing 67 lbs. in such a short time, well it was horrible losing that way, while you were sick.......but.... glad you feel better now, and enjoy your journey with the sleeve good luck kathy -
hi bigkim sorry you are at a stall now, but...... i don't know how far out you are since surgery- but a jump from 237 to 200 will take awhile, make small goals, slow and steady DOES wins the race my starting weight was 235, i'm down to 180 now - it took me 4 months. weight loss for everyone is different person to person - but yeah yeah, you men have an advantage over us ladies and you seem to lose weight quicker. even though we put our weight on "overnight" it doesn't come off that way weight will come off soon - we all have to be patient good luck kathy

Of course your so excited, a whole new world is just opening up for you on the otherside of.... theres so much in the future to look foward to you, and you deserve only the best. Don't we all hang in there, you'll do great, like i said - only good will happen to you around the bend good luck kathy -
hi dorrie unfortunately at 4 months out, i still have trouble getting all my fluids in. I do eat popsicles, and push the H20 as much as i can. I keep trying to push more fluids, getting in about 40 oz give or take daily. I don't dislike water, but..... Don't want to go the Gatorade route, or juices, Never understood why you drink lots of water and that helps you lose weight. - go figure any explanation about why your supposed to drink so much water would be appreciated. thanx kathy

3 Days Post Op- Can't Believe How Good I Already Feel
ProudGrammy replied to randalljohn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
randaljohn, welcome home glad things are going so well. Church the next day, took a nice walk. Woa don't overdue remember you just had major surgery, have family, spoil you alittle, thats ok. The most important thing postop is to drink liquids, and more liquids (i.e. water) Soon enough you are supposed to drink 64 oz. a day. Popsicles also count as a liquid. liquids are more important at this early stage of the game - you will get your Protein in soon enough. slow down and relax a bit best of luck kathy -
Spouses During The Hospital Stay
ProudGrammy replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
feszyk, no i had a headache my DH came to hospital w/me and stayed through the surgery and recovery room til i got to my room. We live very close to the hospital, so he went home - i just asked him your question about sleeping accomadations, he said he would have spent the night at a motel/hotel if we lived 40 minutes away. good luck kathy -
Preparing To Prepare
ProudGrammy replied to nabird77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey texas, welcome to this sight. i know you have about 6 weeks to go, buttime will pass quickly. you are starting off well by knocking off the soda - carbonation & of course sugar aren't good for you. exercising is not my cup of tea either you walking 30 minutes is terrific. maybe 2 weeks pre-surgery - you could start the Protein shakes that stocked full of protein, which is something you need lots of. Dr. has specific plans and may not want you to do a pre-diet. you are on the right track - exercising, eating better -you just being so happy & excited to go into sleeveland. Your happiness flows over. do well these next few weeks - anticipate only good things to happen on your journey with your sleeve and losing weight. best of luck kathy -
My New Journey In Life
ProudGrammy replied to biggcatt88's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
sdb1147 my surgery was 12/15/11 - Medicare was not expecting the sleeve at the time. Luckily i had a secondary insurance from my work. BCBS, which paid for the sleeve. Medicare is seriously looking into oking the sleeve, hopefully sooner than later. if you are trying to decide on what weight loss surgery to have, we are all biased here since you are now in sleeveland, but the sleeve is really the total best. good luck kathy -
dawnt you are only 6 days in the game, feeling the way you do, shakey and dizzy call dr. tomorrow for help/assistance. feel better soon as far as the popsicles are concerned - buy the sugar free - but what you had for a few days won't kill you, i promise welcome kathy

princess9475 you are doing so wonderful in such a short time period. keep up the good work best kathy
