    Raised Incisions?

DallasMom Are you going to be seeing your dr. soon? Regardless, i would call him sooner than later. Having incision still being red, IMO doesn't sound great, you should check it out. I'm sure you will be fine, just check it out with the doc. Never be afraid to talk to the doc if you have any problem/question - he is there for you - always best kathy

    Am I Eating Enough?

MyGastricSleeveLife Finally, someone else whose dr. only wants you to 3 meals per day with no snacks between meals. That is exactly what my NUT has always told me. I'm 5 months out, and have always abided by this rule - going a little nuts i think, i'm getting tired of "being such a good girl" As summer and warm weather approach, i know i will be hungry/thirsty for some fruit I don't understand why if thats planned in the middle of the day, i don't think it should be considered grazing. I never graze, eat during the day, between meals etc. But at some point, i'm going to throw the book away - egads..... i will talk to my NUT. Any opinions on this would be appreciated. thanx kathy

    Water Intake.

dear 2 fisted drinker boy how i envy you. I sometimes have problems getting in my 64 oz. Post surgery I don't think theres any problem drinking too much water. You might have to drink slowly and carefully, but after surgery your supposed to get as many fluids in as possible. After a while, you can slowly drink and drink. I know people on the board drink 1 gallon + , i don't know how they do it, but thats what i heard. Wait for more comments to follow. best kathy

    Can I Chew Gum?

Hi llovemeforeverapril my NUT told me not to chew gum anytime, anywhere, ever. - its too easy to accidently swallow. Also my NUT said never to use a straw, something about "air in your stomach?" not sure also no soda, due to the carbonation, i know many people sparingly drink soda, they might feel ok, but i was told that soda is not good for you post surgery. the above is just from my NUT kathy

Surgery With A Side Of Nervous

Too funny girlfriend I'm so glad you decided against the lapband. I have heard more and more doctors aren't even performing the lapband any more, (is that true) just too many problems the revision to sleeve from lapband is popular. That shows the lapband is going out the window soon, IMO. Holy Moly, June 8th is a couple of weeks away - i understand you are nervous, we all were. Don't worry about being put to sleep, just take a short nap, and you'll be back in your room in no time. Good wishes on your surgery Good luck kathy

    Still A Slave

[quote name='shellbell33081' timestamp='1337545005' post='347184' ] ended up eating too much My dr. always says, stop eating when you are full, then stop one bite earlier. Whats done is done, its over with. you can't fix the past, just go to the future and keep those nasty hands away from that bad food. you'll do better with your head, just remind yourself why you had the sleeve, take a deep breathe, and know that junk is now forbidden you'll get the hang of it - no one said it ever would be easy good luck kathy

Jill279 needed chemo to combat my breast cancer 10 yrs ago. hair was totally gone it took a while, but the hair did grow back. i have very thin hair, was hoping it would grow back thicher and more luxorius (msp) no such luck I'm 5 month post op surgery, and haven't lost any hair yet, but it might still happen. Like someone said "above", hair loss is temporary, weight loss is permanent best kathy

    Insurance Gurus...please Help

Hi littlebits, I don't think anyone should ever settle in life. No way, no how. You deserve the best, i do understand your frustration, but please don't give in. You know what you want, the sleeve is the best, please don't give in. That means "they" have won. You've gotten so far, continue to be persistent. Perrish the thought, but if you lose the fight for the sleeve, you'll know you gave it your best try. But that being said, i have faith and confidence in you - and that goes a long way. good luck keep fighting kathy

    Question

Hi Carrie The dry heaves are no fun. I had them for awhile a few weeks post surgery. I even ended up going to the hospital cuz i was dehydrated, not drinking or eating enough. Couldn't hold stuff down. When i was nautious after the fact, my dr. recommended Zofran - it helped me alot. So for a while I was taking Zofran before i ate anything, and yes first thing in the morning too. it calmed things down alot. feel better kathy

Hi Sue That statement is too funny, love it kathy

    Start Pre Op Diet Today!

PEvette unfortunately I went on a food Funeral for awhile before surgery, doctor didn't require pre-op diet. I also gained about 20 lbs. if i had to do it over again, i would have made the wiser decision not to eat like the world would end tomorrow. Oh well, live and learn. kathy

My One Week Post-Op -- Down 6.4 Lbs!

MyGastricSleeveLife, Good for you, starting off with such a BANG. Makes you feel great, right? Your progress will continue as your smile gets bigger, your wasist will get smaller. IMO - you should get off that scale, only weigh once a week, then you'll be happy and surprised when you weigh in. Welcome to sleeveland, enjoy the view. kathy

    I Work In Retail....

hi jared can't promise any exact time to take off from work. All of are different. I am retired, so not really in your shoes, but in my case i probably could have gone back to work after 10 days - but i hear stories by other people who say they are still so very tired that they couldn't go back to work for 2, 3 or even 4 weeks. it all depends on how you feel. good luck with your surgery kathy

    New To This Site!

Hi Skinnyminded I was sleeved 5 months ago, and i'm very happy. Down 65 lbs. no pre-op diet. Most people on this board might be a little biased - since most are happy with there sleeve. (always a few that might be a little discontent due to problems that occurred) So, yes IMO - go for the sleeve, it will change your life for the good. best on your decision kathy

    Lost 7 Pounds I'm Happy!

Girlfriend Congrats on losing those 7 lbs. you are doing great. Sorry to say, but if your pHP advises you to lose another 8 lbs. before surgery, maybe you should do for it. Maybe thats the certain% of your weight that you are supposed to lose? It is easier when you take off a few lbs. before surgery, then you have a heard start, but.... Way to go, i'm sure you are getting so excited about surgery. Winning a giveaway from Dr. Oz, now thats what I'm talking about I luv Dr. Oz good luck on your surgery kathy

    Surgery Cancelled

Doyle33 hi there, i'm so very sorry you had to go through this situation. Getting all hyped, surgery room, then to have the rug pulled from under you. i just can't imagine how that must have made you felt. It is good they "pulled" the plug though since they had concerens, case they had any fears, but what a dissapointment it must have felt like when you left OR and realized nothing had been done. Ok, enough of the bad, which can't be changed. It was good they saw a possible problem, stopping the intended surgery. You don't want a doubt in your surgeons mind that something could go wrong. Better safe than sorrry. Old cliche' but true. I understand you being "concerned" going into the OR again for the Sleeve. I do get your fears, and possibly wanting to delay surgery til you feel more mentally prepared. I do hope you can overcome these thoughts over the next week. Things in the OR this time should be fine, but again i do unterstand your feelings, well actually no one can totally understand since we haven't been in your shoes. They have a slot for you in the next week, i would grab it. Hope you do go through with things for the surgery - the sooner the better in Sleeveland - then the journey begins, and you will be happy. best in your pending surgery kathy
  21. hi Lexsan, this is kindof a crash i think (changing a subject midstream) but you are a newbie - so thats ok. things will change considerably with your breasts after the surgery, the girls will be "hanging" down more, and not as big. So IMO hold off on the breast surgery. You will lose some breastsize post surgery. So its better to wait. luck for your WLS. Enjoy your walk through sleeveland kathy
  22. Mina T/Angel In my many surgeries, i've always had general anesthesia - which is perfect for many, many people, but in my case, i had some problems after the fact. For the first time i had the "twilight surgery" It was wonderful. I did need to stay still while they gave me the spinal. but that was a piece of cake. (oh no did I say cake? ) Coming out after the sleeve was wonderful, totally different feeling. Wasn't groggy or anything. Wasn't in recovery long, things just really well for me. Don't worry about the anesthia, you'll do fine - thats the first step on your journey into sleeveland. Good luck kathy
  23. OMG - OMG After my shower this morning, I looked in front of the full lenghth mirror in the bathroom. Turned every which way. Where was it, its gone, i knew this would happen eventually, after 5 months and 65 lbs its official. My stomach is no where to be seen. I have a little pouch of tummy flab, but not too bad. This happens to the best of us., losing our stomach - BTW - i don't ever want it back. Yayyyyy, it finally happened to me - no more stomach, so to speak of. woohoo, woohoo doing the happy dance kathy
  24. Congrats Rainy007 you are totally ready for this new sleeved life. I envy you at the age of 35 having the sleeve done, you have made a very wise decision. i'm 58 and 5 months post op, wish i had the sleeve done a long time ago. - won't get upset about the past, too happy to look toward the future. best kathy
