Hey kiddo you just had major surgery a week ago. IMO its way to early to even attempt to eat any heavy stuff, milk or whatever. Your stomach told you it was too sore, or full to eat that yet,- you must listen to - your stomach always If the dr, NUT tells you now to go on puree food, do the best you can., don't be afraid. (my NUT told me i could skip that phase) as far as the liquids though, primarily H20, you must try to drink because you don't want to get dehydrated - its no fun. best of luck to you kathy

Interesting...wls Menu At A Nj Steakhouse
ProudGrammy replied to littlebits's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
littlebits thanx so much for sharing this. restaurants and others are taking notice that WLS have so many people now (kindof sad though) - we need to be noticed. Menus are a great place to start. April 26, 2012 i had a knee replacement - in the hospital & then the rehab area they both had a separate dietary group/menu for WLS patients. I'll drink to that - of course sugar free iced tea kathy -

I Finally Found Out Why I'm Hesitant To Give Away Clothes That Are Too Large
ProudGrammy replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The late great luther vandrose i heard tell had three different closets - which had his various sized clothes in different areas. One closet, his extremely big sized clothes, and medium size clothes in the other, and smallest clothes in the last one. Kindof sad that he knew to expect his sizes would vary, so he needed to keep all different sized clothes kathy -

I Cheated I Was Depressed
ProudGrammy replied to georgia728's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
georgia728 first off, you didn't stretch your stomach at all, really. According to my NUT, you really can't stretch your stomach except if you are constantly grazing all day long, all the time. This is according to my NUTconcerning stretching the sleeve, would like to hear different comments from my fellow sleevers. Do you kindof agree or what? Most of us we all fall, or slip alittle off the wagon at sometime. We're only human, most of us Don't beat yourself up over it. Get back to doing what you were doing. Boredom is bad for people, its easy to grab a handfull - which turns into many handfulls of food. This is what i used to do. Its hard not to eat in front of the tv without eating. but since we have a great new future - we need to either stay busy, or learn to just not want those Snacks - i am trying to do both. BTW - next time you grab for something you shouldn't, or don't want to eat, literally "slap" your hand. The pain alone will make you stop reaching for that whatever............... good luck kathy -
Hi ashleigh14 This is one time you have forgot this shake - if you take the slimfast or whatever - i'm sure it will be ok you'll be fine, don't worry continue to be excited for the best journey of your life kathy

I Finally Found Out Why I'm Hesitant To Give Away Clothes That Are Too Large
ProudGrammy replied to Catracks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Catracks I really do understand what your doing, keeping a few big clothes, and whatever works for you, kindof reminding you of your previous size - don't hold on to too many though - thats a past you might want to remember alittle, but put it on the back burner and turn it on very low i, on the other hand I did something so stupid a couple of years ago. I gave ALL my lovely smaller clothes to the Rescue Mission, cuz i figured i would never be able to fit in them again. They took up so much room in the closet, it was depressing seeing stuff i couldn't wear, Now i can't go clothes shopping as they say in the closet It would have been so wonderful trying these chlothes on that have been too tight on me, eventually fitting me - or not being as tight anyway Oh well, just another day in the life.................... kathy -

...like Beating A Dead Horse... I Know
ProudGrammy replied to SicChl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi SicChl I am/was amongst the world's greatest snackers - actually we probably all were. After WLS - i just stopped snacking - simple as that, well not exactly simple. Kindof like a chain smoker - who needed to quit - goes cold tuirkey. Many many years ago my father went to his PHP - dr. told him if he wanted to see his kids grow up etc. he had to stop smoking immediately, thats all there is. Thats how i feel about being morbidly obese. After all these years - i just have to stop! No ifs and or buts. Of course if it were easy, none of us would be obese - i know i could lose the weight, but i never kept it off. I finally came to the realazation (msp) with PHP's help/iinsistance - i must lose the weight. Thats how i feel about snacking/getting off track. We must survive. Maybe think of this when you are reaching for that piece of candy. Now of course conflict in terms - you can take that piece of whatever - just try and plan ahead for it. The above might sound a little lame - but this is how i am doing this with the guidance of the sleeve. Good luck to all us kathy -
Sigh....cooking
ProudGrammy replied to ladyarwenrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey Lady LOL Sounds like you and I could compete in the worst cooking contest, hmmmm, don't know who would win there are many, many expert cooks, bakers etc. on this board. - but I don't think the two us of are the only ones here who aren't great cooks./chefs Seriously, I'm 58 - married to my DH 20 yrs, and never ever learned to cook - but thats ok for ME. Not saying i should be proud of the fact that i didn't learn to cook, it just isn't my cup of tea. Like I said we can't be the only ones who can't or don't want to learn how to cook but............ take some cooking classes, that would help. Ask your boyfriend to help. He might enjoy it, as will you too maybe. Sounds like you have a great guy who usually does the cooking - maybe he would like to help/teach you how to better yourself in the kitchen. Get a cookbook out - they have info on recipes and info how to cook - giving step by step directions. Hmmmm, maybe i should practice what i preach Bottom line, don't be hard on yourself - you can improve, or start new skills. BTW, as long as you do your best, you are never a failure good luck kathy -
Stalled At 3 Weeks?
ProudGrammy replied to Preacher's Wife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Preacher's Wife Just a few words of encoragement, we all need them: You are doing wonderfully. You are so early in the game. Losing 21 lbs is terrific - you will lose alot more, promise. Drinking liquids are exceptionally important. Later on you are supposed to get in 64 oz. day - for now drink as much as possible. You don't want to get dehydrated - ever. Repeating, you are really doing great, don't get discouraged, keep up with everything - and all will be well. Don't ever give up on youself, ever. You need the good spirits and thoughts to help keep you feeling good, and in the long run make you happy about your future. Never compare your weight loss with others, we all lose at a different time speed, we really do Drink (sip), make sure to rest - you are in no shape yet for the olympics - other things will come gradually. Take care of yourself thinking of you kathy -

Waiting Game...
ProudGrammy replied to BlessedBeyondMeasure2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BlessedBeyondMeasure2012 Hi here Please read the below w/the utmost sarcasm that is intended aren't you "unlucky" for not being sicker? We should to be sicker to be almost immediately be approved for insurance. As I was, morbidly obese with 4 morbities, Aren't I lucky that i was approved so quickly for WLS since i had so many morbities. The truth is, our weight/size should be the gigantic morbititie (msp) that counts. If you have no illness like diabetes, sleep apnea, we know that eventually you will "probably" get these illnesses. Being heavy should be the morbitite that counts. Insurance wants us to deal with these problems first, before you can get approved for the WLS. How crazy is that? First get sick enough, then they allow you to have the the WLS? I'm rambling & repeating myself but................ Continually angry with studpid insurance companies that give people a rough time kathy -
Hi JenniJune Now calm down, calm down As far as seeing straight, I don't want you to walk into a wall before WLS I am so happy things are going great for you. So glad you are excited. what else could you be? I know i've been there. Couldn't wait til things started rolling. Its a wonderful feeling getting that official date, and then the count down etc. and of course having the WLS and then sky is the limit...... good luck, take a deep breath kathy

ProudGrammy replied to lailabrownskinned's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lailabrownskinned hi there consider yourself lucky - i never drank a whole bunch like the 64 oz. you're supposed to. so drinking all that liquid is great. It will keep you hydrated, and will help in your weight loss journey too. see ya at the water cooler kathy -
kristy hi there, when its hot outside, I don't feel like eating much. But since we eat so very little, we for the the main part, should eat are quota i think. On the other hand, i unfortunately have trouble getting all my H20 in. Summer comes along - i am way more thirsty. So on the plus part i end up drinking more Water. Great P.S. i just noticed you are such a big winner by being a great loser - down 92 lbs. happy dance in motion. Kathy

3 Weeks Out 30 Pounds Down But No Restriction Question
ProudGrammy replied to Animallover77357's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
animallover 77357 After my liquid phase and all that good stuff and still now, i was told by my NUT to measure 1/3 cup total for each meal. Since that is what is on my plate, thats what i eat. don't give yourself any temptation putting more on your plate, saying hmmmm, maybe i should stop now. With everything measured, you can't question yourself to eat more, even if you think you might be able to eat more STOP That way i'm full - also remember to eat very slowly, chew thoroghly (msp) and donl drink w/your meals. Rember all this, there will be a test good luck ps you didn't stretch your sleeve kathy
