How Do You Appear... Young Or Old?

PreciousCargo People can be so ignorant, making stupid, insensitive, remarks and or questions. "your head appears smaller" Are you kidding me? Some people honestly might think they are not saying anything wrong - unbelievable. now if one of "us" sleevers asked questions like this amongst ourselves, thats one thing, no problem, interesting discussion. but for others to come up to us and make certain comments/questions, even if they are supposedly well intentioned, well I don't think thats approppriate (i still make as many spelling errors as before WLS) BTW I at 58 years young, i don't have any more wrinkles than before WLS, but i don't have any less either, As far as looking younger - feeling healthier and happier - you bet your bottom lb. i do kathy

    Don't Hate

MamaOF8 OMG I can't believe someone would actually write such a cruel thing. I'm sorry you had to read this. You did alllll your research concerning the surgery, where to have it done etc., which is your business any ways Before WLS everyone is nervous, and to add fuel to the fire......someone would write such a note. To make all these mean comments by and to a stranger is unheard of. I wish you had not heard these terrible remarks, when as you said, you are nervous anyways before WLS. I'm sorry you were the recipient of such a horrible note. Mexico will be great We're all sliding over on the losers bench to welcome you to sleeveland Good thoughts best wishes adios kathy

    Revision With Dr Ponce

hi there Welcome home from Mexico, and back to the Sleeve Board - we missed you i also wasn't allowed any ice chips. EGADS After i "begged" they finally gave me those swabs with the Water on them that i could rub in my mouth. That was such a treat, I thought I was in heaven Great to hear that your co-ordinator Trish was so nice and helpful too. That really is great to have that extra support, especially in a foreign country. Glad things are going so well continued success kathy

    Day 2 Recovery

Happy2Bme Yes things will get better - really they will - But you now have a life sentence with the sleeve. But don't worry, the life will be good. This is a totally new style of living, and eating. The expression "Live to eat" or "Eat to Live" is very true. I used to be in the first catagory. Life will change for you - and you will be healthier and feel better, and getting a little slimmer is a plus too. take care best of luck kathy

    Insurance Approved- New World Record!

Hi geno Congratulations - your approval from insurance was great. The way insurance many times takes forever to approve the sleeve, youi deserve to be approved quickly. Good luck on your pending surgery kathy
  11. -oops sorry for the double post kathy head hanging in shame
  12. stop, stop stop as your dr said, and most other dr.s said too, like mine - you just had major surgery on your stomach - 85% of your stomach was removed - and you must let your tummy heal. Listen to what your doc says. Liquids first - very important - drink as much as you can - don't get ahead of yourself - even if your stomach says "hey this is no problem to eat" - no no no as everyone else has said - listen to your dr. - you trusted him with operating on you - now trust him with your schedule for eating, slowly, and the way he recommends I'm sure you will be fine - just listen to dr. like we all do good luck kathy

    Newbie

tiffany YaHoo texas, Yippe Ka Yea Don't think i said the 2nd part right but you know what i mean. Glad you are joining us. The more the merrier. I'm sureothers will be saying hi Yes there are many different good threads and reading to be done. You will get support here, you can ask questions, give answeres, or just hang around with a glass of Water., remember no soda 5 days out and it sounds like you are taking care of yourself - good for you. Letting your body heal/wait til stiches are gone before you exercise. Rest, relax - before you attack the process, you had major surgery - remember you invaded your stomach, having major surgery. Sorry the hot weather effects your health/making you sick etc. In my case, i welcome the warm temperatures, especially hot weather - i drink my water, a lot better. A lot. Reason being since i'm so hot I have to quench my thirst - so i drink more. Stay on cloud 9 You'll love the journey through sleeveland Welcome kathy

letsdothis hi there, i'm really sorry you are so upset. Its totally understandable. Paperwork can be such a big orderal, such a terrible mess. if you can, try and calm down, even though i know thats easier said than done. Glad they called the dr. office - 40 + minutes waiting must seem like 40 hours. Hopefully they will send the paperwork over ASAP/get you back in the system. Things will work out, promise. Keeping my fingers crossed Good Luck Kathy

    Sleep Study Requirement?

Buffehead When you snore, you could possibly stop breathing . When you stop breathing periodically, hmmmm, thats not a good thing Thats where the test and CPAP come into the situation. You don't want to die - then you can't be sleeved Per my PHP a huge huge huge amount of people that are overweight have sleep apnea I guess i was lucky, insurance did cover total thing - test and CPAP. If you have to pay for some of test or macine, i do see your concern. when and if you are diagnosed w/sleep apnea - insurance then considers it another co-moribity. WooPii (sarcastic) Kathy good luck

    Approved!

BkMama Now Now get a Kleenex and blow your nose. OMG I heard that. So whats the big deal, you got approved for the sleeve. How nice WooHoo, the sleeve is the most wonderful thing in the world. Congratulations Happy dance You will be so happy when you are finally sleeved. Opening the door for you to walk into sleeveland good luck kathy

    Sleep Study Requirement?

Buffehead my PHP suggested that i take the sleep study test because i am a big snorer. my DH says i am a big snorer - personally since i never heard me snore, i don't believe it study was positive. have worn the CPAP a couple of years now. CPAP's are really small these days, doesn't bother me at all. There was no cost to me for test or CPAP machine w/my insurance covering it.. The "test" is no big deal. You sleep, you have this junk in your head with wires, they monitor you, periodially, really no big deal. you are usually checked for sleep apnea if you are tired and stuff during the day & if you snore. I have both problems. Even though you only snore - its not a bad idea for the test. If you test positive - thats considered a co-morbitity (msp) woopi - you have another ailment that insurance loves. contradiction in terms. good luck take care kathy

    So Happy!

Crichard 1107 Those four words you said speak volumes. (I have been approved) So happy for you. your surgery will be here before you know it, and you'll go on the best journey of your life into sleeveland. good luck kathy
  20. hi JAMIE I promise not to rant at you, and hopefully no one else will. Many, many, many of us are successful at losing weight. I have many issues after the weight los we've lost the weight, in my case i can't keep the weight off for long. I could never have dropped this weight without the help of the sleeve, mainly keeping it off. i use the sleeve as my tool to help me lose my weight My serious problem is that i could never keep the weight off before. I am not at goal yet, but when i get there i am totally optimistic that i will continue my life with success in dealing with maintenance. you are 9 months out, were you successful at losing weight? I don't think WLS is the newest "fad" i hope you "feel" better soon and continue to try and attempt your health and food issues kathy
  21. Estrovan hi there, you are having alot of anxiiety, nerves, fear, all those good words too. all those thoughts are totally acceptable, to different extents, but your own feelings prior to WLS, are just that, your feelings. continue those deep breathes, i understand you want this surgery so bad. Take it slowly, slowly, you'll be fine good luck kathy W LS

    Random Thought

Hi DuranFan1969 There is a good reason more and more insurance companies like BCBS are accepting and paying for bariatric surgery. I have diabetes and other co-morbidities. In the long run it is cheaper for insurance to cover this large bill for WLS, because over the years insurance will have to pay much more for medical supplies and medicine for people with such ailments as high blood pressure and diabetes, sleep apnea etc. So getting the WLS makes sense to the insurance company. I don't think insurance is paying for WLS out of the "goodness of their heart" it just makes good business sense. Good luck with you upcoming sleeve you will be very happy kathy
  25. You said a mouthful. Remember you just had major surgery. If you are onlly a few days or so post-op your tummy is just starting to try and heal. You must be nice to it, and sip very slowly and carefully. I don't even think you should eat applesauce if you are so sore. Just take it real slow, no hurry. Yes you will feel better in your own time, everyones different. no rush feel better soon best wishes kathy
