3 Days Post Op And Feeling Low Help!

hun You are stil a babe in the woods. you just had WLS - you can't be expected to be perfect yet if your referring to the Protein shakes not being tasty , i know - yeach you need to try a few different types of shakes til you find one thats ok. some brands have samplers, with different flavors in a pack. The most important thing now is drink, drink, drink and then drink some more as much as can. i drank Water. you can take your time drinking, but you don't want to get dehydrated. so drink what you can, very slowly is ok , just drink -its very important as far as your emotions go, Mine were all over the place too, so don't worry about that. many of us dealt with these kinds of problems too, they will subide. don't worry about calories now, that will come in time. some people do experience "buyers remorse" but thats many and far between, usually that feeling goes away with time as you feel better. btw its ok to have a good cry once in a while feel better sooner than later take care good luck kathy

    Blood/platelet Donor

Tiffany sounds like you are in the same situation that my DH is in. He donates platlets ever 2 weeks. In his opinion maybe at 6 months you can donate, but that is just athought.. what benisa said about possibly not being able to donate again - unfortunately might be trure.. you sound very generous wanting to give your time and platelets to people. talk to the Red Cross, they will give an answer one way or another. best of luck kathy
  8. hey girlfriend during the day, i have no problem with "wanting" to eat just because i'm doing stuff like talking to you guys. nightime, is another story watching the tube vegging with DH - i need to put my hands on something-besides my DH If i do just want to eat. - hubby is being good by not eating in front of me. i'm not hungry, i have that head hunger you were speaking of. keeping busy helps me not to eat, but the truth is if you want to eat that badly-you are going to find something. i will grab a popsicle sometimes, and if we have my favorite, purple, then i'm really psyched being a couch potatoe as i am, i will get up and and go someplace else. Watching too much TV gets gets me in trouble. will usually go into the den and visit my computer w/you guys, i never eat at my computer. maybe i should live in the in the den, that way i will never eat - i will keep alot of Water on hand hand. don't think i was much help - i wanted to try good luck kathy

    I Can't Believe It's Been A Month

whitniccole congrats on making it through the first month, this time is usually the hardest. losing 30 lbs - how terrific is that keep up the good work, time does fly - and one month turns into two and then 3 then.... keep up the great work. DH and i were driving, all of a sudden i said - tom i can't believe it but its been 3months since WLS. I can't believe it, how time flys so quickly- its amazing . Now 6+ months since WLS, DH has said he enjoys seeing "less and less of me" hmmmm, showed i worry i'm just lovin and enjoying my life. Didn't think it could ever be this good kathy

    Dining Out Depression

Linda congrats on losing 20lbs - way to go my DH and i went out to eat all the time. , not anymore the stock in many of these restaurant has gone downhill since we are no longer patrons we went out to eat for the 1rst time since WLS. 6+ month P.O to(Red Loster, umm umm good) I was kindof scared, being around all those people eating, dealing with me getting a small portion. Like Pennie said,, ask for a take out container to be given to you exactly at the same time your meal is brought.. I l left the portion i was allowed to eat in on my plate, and the rest was immediately put away. I ordered an appetizer that gave you 3 choices what to eat. I chose scallops, clams, and mozzarela sticks. I don't like mozzarela sticks, i ordered on purpose to give to my DH. pretty smart, right Don't concentrate on what you can't or should not drink /eat, (strawberry daquari) msp think about the great stuff you can drink, Water ie. -or a treat like an iced tea w/ lemon go out and have fun/enjoy yourself ummm ummm good kathy

"so How Much Weight Have You Lost?" Rant

JD716 my mom was coming for a visit about one month post WLS. When she called, she said "I can't wait to see my skinny daughter" I laughed and said, sorry mom i'm losing weight, but after one month i am not exactly at goal she was really disappointed what are people thinking, do they think all this excess weight that we put on over the years, will melt off over a week-end? OMG kathy

Is It Harder After 40 For This Surgery?

Looking Ahead hey there, so sorry you have been going through these hard times. as they say nobody promised you a "rose garden". you are still only a virgin at 5 days out. Things will improve. People of any age go through these similar problems. They could be 20 or 41 or my age of 59. I don't think age matters, no one age has the corner on hurting pains. Now with that being said...... lets talk about YOU Walking w/such difficulty, holding your bandage in pain - just feeling awful is so hard, must make you feel so bad. Do you have anyone around you that can help in any way, even there to hold your hand and listen to you. Could someone come and be with you for a while til you feel alittle better? give you support if no one lives around you, you can always reach out to us on the board,. we don't bite but, the phone cord reaches all sorts of family/friends all over the word as if they were next door. Its not the same as being in the next room,, they are still there to listen to you and help you, Many people are in a bad way, especially those first few days, but it will pass. You will feel better and get on that road to success with a long journey ahead to health and happiness for the rest of your life and yes loosing weight helps you feel much better. this long journey will make you feel so much healthier and better FYI i've gotten off my diabetes medicine after 20 years! - and my blood pressure meds are gone. too. You will feel so much healthier, its amazing what losing weight can do. I'm trying to say that all this terrible pains will not be in vein what ever physical ailments you have, things will turn around for you. 5 days turns into 6 days turning into 7 days, etc. etc. etc. You will feel better and stronger every day. please take it slowly with a deep breath, things will get better sooner than later take care feel bettter kathy

  24. Pookeyism. I don't have any old pictures of myself, i am still looking though. I never wanted pictures taken of me being heavy. My DH took a couple of pictures of me the day before WLS was too ashamed to post In other words i will never see an actual picture of myself to compare - before/after I know i've lost alot of weight, but i can't "see" it from 6+ months ago/to now Didn't feel that great about myself before - feel much better, healthier, happier now i know that once again that the sleeve is only a tool to make me feel even better, i still have to deal with other weight issues, self esteem too, nothing is a quick fix, i do know that some people look so good that there dr. wants to show before/after pictures in an advertisement. hmmm Pookey? feel much happy about myself don't look too bad either good luck to us all kathy
