    Now That I Am Post-Op

LorenaVaca Being 4 days post op you need to drink alot of fluids , you don't want to get dehydrated and land back in the hospital - no fun wanting to drink Water, or posicles only, being "normal" - whats normal? i am sure previous new sleevers didn't have any desire to eat/drink. This will pass Drinking plenty of water is necessary - making sure that it is PLENTY of water - like i said you must stay hydrated. popsicles are fine too - i loved those, still love them if you can't do the Protein shakes this early in the game thats ok for now things improve feel better good luck kathy
  2. oooops didn't mean to post here
  3. enigmachik Warning, warning, this does not compute its not allowed in Sleeveland to say the "O" word - only you don't say ONLY 10 lbs for example - cuz 10 lbs is 10 lbs. wow - it's not ONLY 10 lbs - makes it sound like you have higher possibly unrealistic expectations. oh dear i hope i didn't say that wrong, don't mean to be rude you'll do great good luck kathy

    No Hair Loss?

prisytomboy i did nothing special to prevent me from losing my hair i take the required Bariatric Vitamins., nothing extra I take 325 mgs 2x a day of Iron - but i was always doing that per my PCP It was the luck of the draw for me that i didn't lose my hair kathy
  5. Mrsski21 congrats on your wegiht loss - how terrific is that. heres to all the all future weight losses you will have on your journey through life kathy
  6. this is very sad/embarrassing (msp) i was in Kohl's, asked a young girl at the register "where are womens i.e. blouses". she pointed me in the direction, then she said something like - oh and the plus sizes are. over there. i was really hurt - i wanted to cry, i couldn't believe she said that i know she was probably in her early 20's - if thats an excuse - i just wanted to die better times are coming

    Addicted To The Scale

Newbieone of the 1rst rules you learn in Sleeveland is never, never, ever compare yourself to anyone else. don't compare how much you've lost or didn't lose - how much time it took you to lose an amount of weight vs. someone else, losing different amounts of hair losing 8lbs during pre-op is great, don't conside yourself a slow loser, you are a big loser - getting rid of all that "excess weight" good luck kathy

    My Food Funeral.

Kimgreat laugh. i think food funerals are wonderful many people (like me) have them - i had a few then you regain your senses, and get back on the horse w/your pre-op or not, some docs don't require, and get excited for the best journey for the rest of your life. there won't be anything you can't eat, in a very, very small quantity. good luck on pending WLS kathy

    My Preop Journey

cher glad you have a different dr now - and he showed you the advantages to the sleeve. you said Kaiser requires you to lose 30lbs - the dr. said 15, do you have to lose 30 or 15 lbs to lose? big difference you need and want to lose this weight ASAP, IMO i would go on a full liquid diet. never been a smoker but i can empathise with your problem of having to stop smoking after 20 years nicotene is a chemical addiction - hard to break you must stop smoking for your health, but in the immediate future and for the rest of your life, so you can successfully have your sleeve nobody should place judgement/lecture you about the smoking - you know the situation, you know you must deal with it, end of sentence, period, of course this is much easier said than done - but i have confidence in you it will be hard to have to deal immediately w/two additions, smoking and eating - but you must show yourself and dr that you can follow the rules, stop smoking, and control your eating to lose excess weight sooner than later so you can have your sleeve good luck we're all cheering you on kathy

  11. aliandrews i have shopped in the plus sizes for so long, i enterred Kohls a while back, and the plus size area tried to pull me like a magnet for me to shop there i felt weird going into normal size area. i gave in to my feelings and said to myself, bye bye plus sizes - never will see you again, leave me alone happy shopping to us all kathy
  12. babysteppin I had absolutely no problems pre-op or post op WLS Easy recovery too. I would suggest the sleeve to all I wouldn't blink an eye, before i did it again - best thing i ever did for myself hope you proceed with the sleeve, IMO its the best type of WLS - of course i'm slightly biased hope you make the right decision kathy happily sleeved since 12/15/11

    Bread...

tracyinflorida no bread for me this early in the game at 8 months now - i don't usually find a need/desire to eat bread - i had a roll a couple of times at RedLobster yum yum when ordering i said" please don't put the garlic butter on" - i love it that way. i had 2 bites, brought rest home, and finished over a couple of days period. I know theres cheese on the roll, but..oh well - i decided i would live it up , knock my socks off, and go crazy warm in microwave and its yummy the next day watch the bread intake, if you can handle a little teeny bit, on a whim go for it

Jessicathe gastic bypass changes absorption- the sleeve has no absorption problems that is one of the many reason I chose the sleeve this is the sleeve board, so we're all biased, but the sleeve is the way to go - really hope you make the wise chose of the sleeve, you won't regret it good luck kathy

    Bmi 50 +

danic-j hi there my post-op went very smoothly , no problems at all you might have simple problems such as gos/nautious/vomitting-but these things should pass after a bit - all sleever react differntly did your dr. tell you that you must quit smoking - i think thats a fact - but who knows - maybe your dr. doesn't require - but i think this whole process becomes more difficult if you smoke - its not suggested anyway cuz of your health don't mean to preach good luck kathy
