If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
ProudGrammy replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
RqwrrAshlee3 sad you have gone through many complications these past 3 months , jaundice, leak, stent and gall bladder removal etc. referring to post above #73 impressed that after all of the above - you see the light at the end of the tunnel. your optimistic feelings ring loud and clear many people on the board say"things do get better" - its true , in all honesty we can't forget there are people like you who have delt with many problems - but i see you as getting stronger from what you've gone through your positive attitude shines , and you want/need to succeed in getting better, taking full advantage of your new tool the sleeve, it will become your best friend as you heal and after wishes for your improving health, recovery, and enjoying your new sleeve good luck -
kzcar Don't know where my mind has gone. the other week in a post, someone asked if they can still have "hot spices" after WLS i immediately thought she was talking about sex, realized shortly she was referring to cooking. others commented they thought the post was about sex. too i see your post about your gown being all set - i thought you were getting married. Hmmmm if that were the case, isn't marriage before sex.. Yeah right, in this past 1/2 century , are you kidding You are not having sex, you are not getting married - whats left? ***************************************************************************************************************************** Ahhhh yes - you are having WLS - not as fun as having sex - but it lasts a life time - well can't sex do that too? oh i'm gonna stop - back to topic girlfriend, you are back in your bed resting, surgery is done next couple of weeks sometimes can be difficult/little rough, - but you'll be fine. Think about this new journey you are starting - wonderful/exciting - you are on the road to a healthier/ happier you. take care speedy recovery congrats on your new life

NewLifeAhead i haven't tried regular pretzals since my WLS - cuz they are addicting to me. i love them But i saw advertised in one of those bariatric magazines - small bags of pretzals being sold - amongst many other foods too, seemed like a good deal. asked my NUT and she said they would be ok for me of course now i don't remember where i saw the pretzals, but i'm sure i'll find it online somewhere amongst those other yummy foods NUT said were ok - still watch calories and stuff, but she said ok to eat. don't overindulge though, as with anything, moderation for our tummy - small amounts take care

I Know What Will Be Taking The Place Of Using Food For Comfort....
ProudGrammy replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my hubby says the same thing, that i am obsessed with the VSG board two days a week my DH telecommutes from home. We're in the den together - he works on his computer and i am on my computer with all you fun loving people he sees how much i really am obsessed with this board brownlady30 - i also refer to this board alot when talking w/my family. they are now used to hearing all about the board hubby puts up with me and the situation , just as has these past 20 years all of you above ladies, are newbies - you will learn alot here, but remember, there will be a test good luck -
molldoll05 the first couple of weeks can be difficult. continue to try and get your Protein shakes, getting a little bit down is better than nothing i was always told to make sure you drink as much Water as possible, the more the better - you can't afford to get dehydrated, end up in the hospital with an IV. for now, don't worry about getting in protein that you need - right now, this soon after WLS, concentrate on drinking as much as you can - as everyone says, it does get better. as far as losing your hair goes,it doesn't happen to everyone - i lucked out and escaped the "bad hair days" some people treat their hair with "biotene" i think - they can tell you i'd rather have no hair and not be fat, what do you think ? trust me - do i look like the type of person who would lie to you you could help the economy by purchasing scarves - and of course now you don't need shampoo - take care good luck spirits up

Kimee did you lose any weight during your pre-op, not gain at least- now i see you did lose 3 lbs. be so careful that you don't gain weight on your business trip maybe you could explain to your dr/office. what has happened to you this past week - and how you had a business trip et al til your surgery. you will have trips post WLS too, so you must deal with them - and also deal w/people eating food in front of you, restaurants etc. - but thats a whole other subject your trip tomorrow, are you driving? can you call him from the road? if your flying, you could call at airport. i do think you should have the surgeon be aware of your weight loss situation./lack of - you don't want to find out the DOS that you have been delayed from surgery. he might be ok with the surgery - but DOS - you don't want to be told no you can't have surgery - you need to call his office, maybe they can tell you its ok - then you would feel better don't think the worse on the other hand after you do have your WLS, you gotta work hard to stay at a "mindset" where you can follow all the rules that go along w/the sleeve. very important. your first phase of liquids - drinking as much as you can - drink alot so you don't get dehydrated. Once you get to mushy, soft food phases - you can't drink with meals or after for an hour follow whatever your NUT says with everything don't drink w/your meals ever - after your meals you can't drink for an hour - i understand what happened this past week, emotions etc., we all experience that be ready for the ride of your life w/the sleeve - the road is bumpy at times, will smooth out for the duration. good luck with WLS wishes for a speedy recovery take care

Surgery 8/17.stuck In Hospital
ProudGrammy replied to CandiKiss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CandiKiss glad WLS went well - sometimes getting enough fluids in the beginning can be tough - later too drinking enough Water can have its own problems - if you don't drink enough you will become dehydrated - at your early stage especially get in all the liquids you can - drink plenty of water vomitting blood, hmmmm - doesn't sound too good - glad you are doing better - as "they" say - things will get better just a layman here, but your dr. was correct to have you stay another day, couldn't hurt good luck take care have a wonderful journey in front of you -
KinnymomX3 MY DH bought me Greek yogurt a couple of months ago. it was a generic, which i always buy in food, BUT the yogurt was terrible. i was disappointed cuz i had heard great things, Protein etc. i bought a brand name yesterday - and the taste difference was like night and day. i had the blueberry - unbelieveable how much i loved it - strawberry is my favorite flavor , they also have peach - other flavors i don't care for - i don't want to overdue it, having daily, then i'll get sick of it. for now, yumyum

Pain! Is This Normal?
ProudGrammy replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lucabelle1313 hi there you had major surgery 5 days ago. many people have pain problems for awhile - cuz of the drain or not - i never had a drain, but i can see that it might be painful hope the meds kick in more, but hopefully you will start feeling better soon once the drain is removed - and you won't need the meds anymore - but on the flip side - use them as long as necessary as far as you being concerned about having a leak - that also is a common fear amongst newbie sleevers. Your dr. probably did a "leak" test. it said you were fine - things can happen in the first few weeks, just to be honest - that being said - most people don't get a leak its common and totally normal to be in some pain, be a little nervous of the unknown - but calm down - things should go terrific. - you'll be on the road to a healthier, happier, new you enjoy your wonderful journey into sleeveland for the rest of your life take care try not to worry best of luck -

Bad Days? 17 Days Post Op
ProudGrammy replied to anaustin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
anaustin sorry you had a rough start after being sleeved - being in the ER/hospital shortly after WLS glad you are home now - the good news, you are feeling better now no time period that you will feel better- sooner than later it should get better - having no regrets about being sleeved try not to 2nd guess yourself - you came to the hard/good decision to have the sleeve. you will realize soon that you are glad you stuck to your decision, and you will feel healthier and happier - and will great some people do have initial problems and doubts about being sleeved -those thoughts usually go away in the long run, you'll realize how wonderful this new tool is - work with it, you will feel great frequent the board to give information - and cry out for help anytimes now, get some kleenex and dry off those pretty eyes and give us a little smile - that alone will make you feel better inside -
newbie - hi there don't usually read/post on blogs - but i saw yours - here i am don't worry - fluids rarely make people full once you start solids - you will feel your new tummy getting full like its supposed to good luck with your new sleeve - you'll love it 8 months 87 lbs down - sleeve was the best decision i ever made don't get discouraged - good things in front of you - patience kathy

Indymomthis was huge for me (no pun!) when i enterred Kohl's my body turned to the direction of plus sizes where jeans, pants had those elastic waistbands afraid to leave my old "friends" of that area. It was psychologically difficult to leave the plus area, because i just couldn't see myself in smaller area i did leave, never to look back - what an accomplishment for me WOOHOO in other words, i miss shopping in "those" areas
