Is There Anyone In The St. Louis Area?
ProudGrammy replied to danibecca's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
danibecca i live in upstate New York so i can't help you your Dr/NUT should have a list/area of support groups in your neck of the woods. you'll meet other nice pre-op and post-op sleevers. will be nice to meet people in your same boat - but very helpful to meet sleevers that have had the WLS and can help with info/answers to questions good luck best wishes -
Katie713 thanx for sharing the benefits of chia seeds - never tried chia seeds before - now on my grocery list

Need Advice For Experienced Vsg-Ers
ProudGrammy replied to So Ready's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Chimera hi there, i think there are many more complications with gastric bypass. Malabsorption, intestines. Larger/quicker weight loss might be excellent initially w/bypass - but many people gain some/all weight back there are not statistics showing the success/failure of the sleeve since it hase only been done recently in U.S. I know, i know it has been done for a long time earlier. i don't think anything about bypass and sleeve are similar except both help you loose weight, both might give you problems, but in the long run IMO - sleeve is much better, less invasive - and next to sliced bread - the best thing in the world good luck -
Why In The Hell Judy Would You
ProudGrammy replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
new grandmother you are human - your weakness to eating food came out. you are not the 1rst/or last to have this weakness show its ugly head prior to WLS - sometimes after surgery too we love eating food we all must change our eating habits, once we have the sleeve - we need to change the way we look and deal with food The sleeve is a tool that assists us - but we need to work on our poor eating habits. all eating problems must be dealt with - for the rest of our lives enjoy your new best friend the sleeve - take care of it - and it will take care of you good luck with WLS speedy recovery -
ellis0921 common denominator with the sleeve, we all have emotions - uncertainty, doubts, nerves, terror, excitement, happiness etc. advice? go with those feelings -they are common after sleeve you will feel same emotions again good luck

MrsCT congrats on your successess "desperate" - never would have used that word - EXCEPT - after WLS, roommate and i were chatting , closed curtain between us, she asked me what surgery i had. i told her i had bariatric surgery. She came back with "wow you must have felt desperate" (saw her later, she was obese too) i had never thought of it that way, yes, after all my yo yo dieting throughout the years, for health reasons et al - i was desperate. i needed this WLS now, enjoying life to its fullest with good health, happiness - feeling great good luck through your journey you have done great

Wedding Ring Issues?
ProudGrammy replied to diochick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
diochick my ring has been loose for awhile when home, gym, PT - i don't wear my wedding ring going out to friends, dinner et al - i put the ring back on, and i'm aware of it, even make it more secure by periodically putting hand on ring, securing it as i'm approach goal, i will get it resized shortly if you have more to lose - i would make a necklace or bracelet holding the ring, (someone earlier suggested that) it is safer that way - no worry about loosing ring - later resize. good luck -

Weight Loss Prior To Surgery.... Have Any Advice?fo
ProudGrammy replied to Sannah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
girlfriend you seem to be doing everything to the "t" - nothing seems to be wrong comments "from up above" concerning Protein shakes look good. drinking plenty of water is a great start, getting in as much protein as you can chewing continueously, eating slowly, keeping track of food/drink w./my fitness plan being more active Keep doin' what you are doing - is my comment you will get into twounderland soon than later - congrats on all of the above good luck with WLS speedy recovery -
theosmom don't know anything about Gastric Plication everyone on this board is biased in getting the sleeve. we are the sleeve board after all to be honest, there are some people that do have complications w/the sleeve - but isn't that the case with other surgeries too? IMO the sleeve is the way to go. I could have lost the above weight on my own. I've done it many, many times. My problem is the weight never stays off - I usually gain back more than i lost - yo yo back and forth - very depressing Using the sleeve as a tool to help me lose the weight, has been great - i can't recommend the sleeve highly enough hope you come over to "our side" you'll be happy you did good luck with your decision

About One Year And Feel Like Failure
ProudGrammy replied to kltrn75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
kiddo you have done terrific this past year. being here this past year you know, we all are different to how much weight we've lost, how long it takes to lose, we're all different no comparisons allowed you've lost 79 lbs - now standing tall in onederland, how great is that? doesn't matter how long it took you to do this, the fact you are here now is the great thing you will get over this stall. it will happen don't get depressed - things will turn around - and one more time you will be jumping around healthier and happier, and loving life again. your glass is half full not half empty God grant me patience, just hurry up about it good luck
