  1. slowlosing welcome to the board glad your hubby will be having the WLS and you are looking around for him to help, advise etc. none of us sleevers are the same - we tell each other not to ever compare with others that being said, there is no common amount of time period or pain/or how much pain you'll be in - i was home on the 3rd day after WLS - really didn't hurt - wasn't doing handsprings (still don't) but i felt good. there are people that take a couple of weeks to heal, but like i said, some are good to go in a few days/a week or two, but some take longer, thats ok. some people are also extremely tired after WLS and take frequent naps, just relax, your hubby will be recuperating from major surgery liquid phase, some people have difficulty drinking Water (i did), i loved my broth and sugar free popsicles though. couldn't drink Protein shakes for awhile - had trouble keeping it down drinking is one of the most important things to do with the WLS - drink as much as you can at this early period - you must not get dehydrated truth is, water is the most important at all times - eventually hubby will be expected to drink 64 oz - can be hard to do for some - but its necessary - i had problems getting in all my fluids, still do at times most people go through a pureed/mushy stage - my doc didn't "prescibe" I told my mom, aunt and uncle, 4 siblings and best friend about my sleeve surgery. now tell others on a "person to person" basis energy increase - everything for me seemed so gradual - don't really know when it happened - - extra energy slowly just happened - wasn't aware of when it started complications with surgery - some people do have issues after surgery - nausious, gas etc i was fortunate not to have any problems congrats to hubby for embarking on this journey what a great surgery he chose for being his first surgery ever having your support - thats wonderful/important he will love his new best friend, the sleeve, for the rest of his life - its obvious that you are his "first" best friend good luck to him and you speedy recovery
  2. what a six-pack you rock
  3. mgonnaloseit hmmmm, interesting post big kudos on quitting smoking after 42 years for the sake of WLS (great start for improving your health and life). that must have been extremely hard to stop smoking- its obvious you can do anything you set your mind to your statement above - i don't thing anyone went "boop" ( know, i know - you just kindof used that word as a silly expression ) and started a whirlwhind "exerciseathon" it take awhile to start and then improve on any exercising your comment on being out of breathe is very common -walking up stairs, moving around - all that stuff was much harder for me pre-sleeve - after WLS and disappearing lbs, you will feel much better the sleeve is wonderful, just wonderful You can definitely lose 120 lbs plus more with the help of the sleeve - many many people on the board have done that - this is common people must start doing exercise very slowly - example - walking around the house - for some that is a good beginning. graduate to more and more walking. - exercise can be walking alone, walking up and down the block and then further and further I am 58, i do have arthritis and two knee replacements - Water aerobics is great for me they now have zumba water aerobics, which is cool doing weights is great too - this also doesn't care about your age being biased toward the sleeve - i would definitely recommend the sleeve over bypass any day of the week and twice on sunday i am thoroughly enjoying my new, healthier and happier lifestyle with the assistence/tool of the sleeve - my new best friend for the rest of my life good luck with your WLS choice PS Jack LaLane - wow he's an oldie but a goodie haven't seen him since his exercise days, and then juice promotions. he was over 90 btw he recently died - don't know where to send flowers

    Thinkin About Sleevin It

Natty All surgeries unfortunately have their rotten apples - the sleeve is not immune there are bad outcomes for some people in the hospital, at home - post surgical reactions - this can happen in any surgery most everybody loves there sleeve, very happy with it, and would do it again i love my sleeve, it has given me a heathier, happier life best thing i ever did have even read from some who had problems, with the sleeve, and said they would still do the WLS again talking to other people in support groups for example will give you some valuable info with questions/answers and their experiences nobody can guarentee you that you won't have any problems there are only two guarentees in life - death and taxes good luck to you

  11. hun you just had major surgery August 21 - you are not a week out yet i was only allowed to drink at this early stage - sure it would be great to get Protein shakes in, but don't worry about getting the protein now. Just drink as much as you can, and then drink some more - you don't want to end up in the hospital dehydrated don't worry about eating anything yet, pureed/mushies or anything - unless your NUT told you otherwise you just had major surgery, your tummy needs to recup, it will happen, and you will feel better, one day at a time good luck, take it slow

    Feel Sad In Lost

Quita hi there - sorry you are not feeling so well - do you already have a date for WLS, did you need to find out if ins. was covering you? I am glad your boyfriend is supportive your mom, like many other moms is probably concerned about you having surgery, worried stuff like that sounds like you really want/need the sleeve. don't let mom or anyone try and change your mind. Its your body, your life and your decision i wish i knew more about you - your profile says you don't know your b'day, age, height - i always think this is so funny, you just haven't filled that info out yet - in time right? where do you live? do you have any other family, anyone else you could try and talk to there are often local support groups that would offer help from other post op sleevers, and pre sleevers to be like you there is a wealth of information and friendships to be made in support groups write some more details about yourself, so we can know you better - and can talk this board is terrific for questions and answers, we're all nice and would love to have you as a new friend - you're not alone hope you feel better soon take care

Can I Rant For A Minute?

SkinnyMainnie2Be you are always allowed to rant at this board 20 lbs - is that what the doc is requiring you to loose pre-WLS? or is that a goal you would like to reach? either way - cottage cheese didn't kill you - has lots of Protein yogurt is good too drink Protein shakes PO WLS you need to have 64 oz of Water a day - you can start now You are not a failure in any way, shape or form good luck
  18. billymom sorry you are dealing with so many problems - your child, DH, and cousin Good for you on trying to stay strong. i can see the determination in your face maybe you could try and talk to some other family/friends. even your NUT could help you with drink situation stay away from those chocolate chip Cookies and everything else that is considered not Kosher, eating now will add guilty feelings making you feel horrible - will only hurt yourself during this hard time Do your best with liquids since you are 6 days PO - you know you must drink good luck
