ProudGrammy replied to Mrtiger1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mrteger1 wow - things are going terrific for you all that walking you've been doing - great early exercise soon, when you want to resume a more rigorous fitness program - take it slow - remember you are recovering from majory surgery make sure dr. approves you before you start more strenuous exercise in the future don't rush into anything sounds like you are a real go-getter back to work this soon after WLS - you must feel great keep up the terrific work see you around the board good luck -
girlfriend congrats on WLS and loosing 17 lbs. totally terrific this is your first stall? won't be your last this too shall pass you are under one month post surgery - much more good to come there are many posts/threads on stalls that other people have written. you are most definitely not alone stalls can last anywhere from 2 weeks/ 2 month/ even longer don't despair (msp?) sooner than later you'll be on your continued uphill journey with the sleeve, to get your weight to go downhill - and your health and happiness will continue to go upwards too all good things come to those who wait good luck

When Will I Stop Regretting Having This Done?
ProudGrammy replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TiredOfChubRub Sorry things are not going well presently Why do you want your life to go back where it was? are you having physical issues, nautious, vomitting etc.? are you missing eating/chewing food? are you having trouble keeping shakes and other liquids down, now into the stage of soft foods? what exactly is going on? i never want the part of my old life back - had me eating all the time, trying to fit into clothes that were too tight, mainly not being a healthy happy me. i am "glad" that person existed before and i have her on the back burner - just to remind myself that she used to exist i remember how miserable "she" was - the new me is much healthier, no more meds for diabetes or high blood pressure no more CPAP - and no more huffing and puffing - i was always exhausted i am working on being more confident with myself - getting out in "life" more - just being a new and improved me. not sure why you wouldn't want to mimic part of whats going on with me, and other sleevers. please explain - the sleeve has saved me - heavy since 18 - 40 years later - i'm doing pretty well. Glad to be on the other side talk to us take care good luck -

What Is Your New Favorite Drink?
ProudGrammy replied to shelly77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
shelly77 i also only drink water too.. its the easiest thing for me to grab and chug, and i'm just used to the taste. at first i had trouble getting in my 64 oz. now i do great, have extra H20 too. in my case - no problems w/water - or wanting to replace iced tea is a good suggestion, and later maybe non-sweetened cocoa - stuff like that good luck -

ProudGrammy replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how about the word WOW thats my word for agreeing that you've made such a huge accomplishment - you should feel proud other "official" words like onederland , hmmmm, i don't think i can think of any except that "WOW" which for now i think it will suffice keep up the great work good luck -
hi thereyou made the wise decision to have the sleeve to improve on your life, and your loved ones too. with that same wisdom, please don't change your mind about being sleeved - you want to/need to loose weight and be healthy for yourself and of course your family too you are going through common emotions that pre-sleevers go through Waiting for insurance approval, sometimes can drag on, and on. its torture waiting for the answer the sleeve is such a powerful tool, it has a great mind of its own that will help you loose weight , and get healthier and happier the sleeve is the best thing that you can do for yourself - you hear many people making this statement, cuz its true, you can't improve on perfection. many moms/dads go through the added pressures that their kids/grand-kids need them . - you want to be there for your family, but sometimes its your turn to ask/receive help - or at least not to be the main caregiver of the kids for awhile - you are the important one now Your instincts say you should help the family, meals/bathtime etc. - maybe your mom can come over, or some of the kids can go there, or some of the older kids can come home and help with the yougons' - not to mention friends or other family could help. thats alot of speculation, - head held high - you can make this work. Having 9 kids, you obviously are handling a bunch - you just need to step it up a bit, change it, get some help - and tell that DH sweetly and kindly that you NEED his help with the kids, they are his kids too. there is usually some sort of solution to a problem hoping you get your positive response from insurance so you are not in a continued state of limbo. once you get sleeved, a whole new world will be at your feet, and you will be so happy you went through the WLS write us with anymore questions or situations you want to talk about/venting etc. - we've seen you around the board - make your prescence (msp?) known again Once you start loosing your weight, you will start to see an improvement in the way you can be with your kids. you won't be doing the 'ol huffing & puffing game as much - as time goes on, things will only get better and better sending you positive thoughts take care good luck

Newbie welcome aboard seeing that you just joined our lovely group about 12 hours ago - i'll try and give you a little info PO sleeve there is no one set answer to how much weight you will loose in 6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months etc. We all vary with our weight loss amount, how long it takes to loose "X" amount of weight. things are different, once people have been sleeved. some people can't eat certain things, they might have a problem digesting, while others have no problems Most docs/NUTS (NUTS = Nutritionalist) are different - one might say you can't drink from straws ever, another might say within 3 months you can use a straw. some might say no to coffee - others say differently one NUT might start you on full liquids sooner than another. One NUT might tell you that you can eat or drink..a certain food/ while another NUT might tell you can't drink or eat that. Always listen to your particular NUT/Dr. very important we all voice our thoughts and opinions on various things, questions asked, bottom line is always listen to your doc/NUT Typical side effects PO are nautious, vomitting, gas - not everyone experiences these problems some people little/no pain after surgery - others might deal with some more pain sleevers can be back to work in 3 days feeling great, others take maybe 3 weeks, others could take as long as 3 months - or all in between Some Sleevers have great recuperation from the second they get into their room after WLS, continued good things through recovery at home too. select few that might have minor problems, that soon turn themselves around and are better you'll have many more questions as time approaches WLS, and then after surgery, you will have more questions again. expect the unexpected on this wonderful trip to Sleeveland kindof got carried away with my response to various other questions, instead of just answering your only question - oooops called diarrhra of the keyboard deep breathes in, then exhale too you will enjoy your long, forever journey, to a new beging of better health, and happiness for the rest of your life - good luck

Marriage & Vsg...
ProudGrammy replied to jessfharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jess its sad to see anyones marriage go up in smoke, but..................... you know whats worse than being in a bad/relationship/marriage for 8 years. living in that bad/relationship/marrige for 8 years plus one day i'm just adding my 2 cents, you need to come to your own conclusion/decision sorry you are going through this situation a few weeks PO. Hope you are healing alright, trying to get rest and of course drinking - must be hard under the circumstances you must take care of yourself first, right now you just had MAJOR surgery, and you have to take that into consideration you and DH are going through personal problems/emotions he shouldn't have added fuel to the fire while you are recuperating by dropping the divorce bomb IMO, he let out all his thoughts and words while you are very vulnerable - it was selfish of him to talk about this while you are Post WLS above are just some of my thoughts to take or leave - perfectly ok. head high good luck -
Looking For People Who Have At Least Two Years Out..regrets?
ProudGrammy replied to MrsM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
MonicaM there are people that are on this board w/the sleeve behind them for at least 2 years - sometimes a little more. - they are doing terrific, maintaining weight, health and happiness they only make good comments on working with their sleeve - being successful, if someone does on a rare occasion/slip up - gain some weight back for various personal/physical problems - they have to get back to basics/better eating with the sleeve. - then loosing damn bloody weight is it ok if i say "Damn", or will the sleeve police come after me and force sugar down my throat you can't only thank the sleeve for your weight loss - and you can't only blame the sleeve for your weight gain we're all using this wonderful "tool" of the sleeve - you need to be accountable for yourself too. not much in the world is free - you can't expect to be sleeved, then the next day sit back and wait for your extra weight to melt off the sleeve will be there for us, but we must co-operate with the rules - drinking etc. any 2 year veterans or more, or less - come out, come out, wherever you are - show other newbies and all of us how terrific your life is Newbies, in a couple of years you can be the veterans that come out and tell your story about your successes with the sleeve for the next batch of Newbies, and onward, and onward, we're always here to help and support others -
Skittle IMO all "normal" people should listen to their docs. Us "abnormal" people that wear their sleeves on their heart - have to follow particular close instruction/directions from the dr/NUT doc told you to rest - getting over your infection sooner than later. then REST kiddo. you might relapse if you start some exercise now. You can wait a bit, heal up, then still make sure you feel 100% the exercising is here forever - we all want your infection gone yesterday take care God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It

Julez23' hi there sorry that you are going through this "uncertainty" stage when your WLS will, or will not be done in december 2011 i was scheduled for 12/8/11 - the day before WLS i got a call saying they had to post-pone do to a problem with schedule. i was all hyped up for this surgery. i also was so upset - WLS was delayed to 12/15/11, not too bad, could have been worse having a delay with your WLS is a pain, but in the long run, it is worth it good luck God Grant Me Patience, Just Please Hurry up it

Got A Date! (Sort Of)
ProudGrammy replied to Aaron in Tulsa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aaron hi there sorry you have to wait longer for WLS since you cant' get off work. loose that 19 lbs sooner than later per your doc - you can to it. the WL surgeon might have a cancellation, doc could sneak in - if you have lost close to that 19 lbs., dr. will probably bless you and say lets do this surgery good luck -

HalfTheWomen Congrats on your continued winning of the" loosing" battle other people on the board mention they are in school bettering their education must be hard for all of you, dealing with the pressures of eating properly, and also working your mind to a healthier place too - kudos to all continued best wishes on the road to improving your mind and body
-
CoolBreeze Congrats on your wonderful success there are other people on this board that are ashamed to admit that they don't exercise much, or not at all so i'll be the first to raise my hand and tell you all that i don't exercise much i'm not proud of it, i just never exercised i have been doing water aerobics lately, and i will go back to the gym - hopefully sooner than later nobody has to tell me the importance of exercise, especially after WLS - and the exercise committment should be like the committment to the SLEEVE i am totally working and committed to my sleeve - totally committed - therefore i know i can get over this obstacle, and will be successful, it might take a while still but.... what i'm trying to say CoolBreeze - is that you are off to a great start, 3 miles (and for a good cause), i know i know it takes me forever to say some stuff, but you might not be an exercise guru yet- but your on the road to to it and much better health not sure how much i helped you, but for me, confession was good for the soul, and i feel alot better now after telling my secret Continued luck to you - and mabye me too good for you on your walking now i just need to practice what i preach

Starting This Journey....
ProudGrammy replied to dwbrown1978's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
dwbrown sorry you've had all these medical problems/surgeries - you are obviously very brave/strong dealing with what you have gone through happy you found this site - we love to give advice, but first we need to hear the questions you newbies should be asking we're always here to support everyone you didn't ask, but i just want to mention there are videos that you do from your chair only - i started out with some of those before WLS and continued for awhile - they could be helpful to you also you have a wise dr. - suggesting the sleeve as the way to go we on the sleeve board all say how wonderful the sleeve is, we're kindof biased, but the sleeve is the best WLS The sleeve works as a tool/assisting you to loose weight. Be good to the sleeve, work with it, and it will be good to you there is alot you have to do also - but i see your strength, so i'm sure you can accomplish the rules that go along with the sleeve glad you already have been approved by your insurance - thats one big thing you don't have to worry about early congrats on your future with WLS you will love your sleeve good luck
