ProudGrammy replied to Chimera's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
wow - you must be so excited/happy - what a wonderful feeling - enjoy every minute of it keep up the great job good luck -
some NEWBIES arrive home from the hospital and feel better quickly, within a couple of days, or a week - some are back to work that being said many, many others need to rest, rest, rest and need to rest some more. you did have major surgery - and you need to give your body time to recuperate - being tired and weak..... that is part of the game take in as much liquid in as you can - very important feel better soon get ready now to start your new long journey with the sleeve

Not-So-Major Nsv
ProudGrammy replied to lollyfidy1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi lolly if something changes, the littlest thing/everything - its great getting to wear a smaller size necklace is great, one more time you are getting benefits from your weight loss with the help of the sleeve big congrats -
hey Texas i am here to listen - i am reaching my hand out to you - i feel very bad that you are dealing with so many problems. you want/need to have the sleeve, but you don't have any insurance to help pay. make phone calls, ask for guidance, maybe someone can point you in a good direction for financial assistance. Maybe you could qualify for a loan? you do have a job outside of the home, and you are going to school too. thats a lot to undertake. good for you- alot to keep you busy, being out of the house is good you've dealt with lots of personal problems from your family - that hasn't helped matters common medical problems of yours, diabetes, high blood pressure, CPAP - bad knees etc. - these ailments can usually be helped or totally be eliminated with the assistence of the sleeve. every single thing you mentioned - i also was dealing with. about 2 months PO - i am now without any meds or CPAP, knees are doing better too. no fun having to deal with any of the above i hope you can talk to someone around you - you shouldn't be alone now - i hope you can reach out to someone to help you. maybe you have to bite your tongue and take that first step i would like to come over to your house and be with you, to help you - unfortunately that can't happen, i am a good listener, but i don't know how i could help, other than using my ears. take care - yes sleevers are here to help you, but we're just here on a computer i hope you can find a friend/make a friend/school mate, someone from work - just to talk with, so you don't feel so lonely hope you can figure something out about getting the sleeve sending good vibes and thoughts your way good luck my friend take care

ProudGrammy replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ejune30 hi there are you feeling any better yet i see your family tried to talk you out of WLS - are they supportive now to help you. i hope they are not giving you the "i told you so" by the time you get this, i hope things are going better sending you good vibes crossing my fingers and toes for your improvement good luck -
i agree w/JenC soup is filling - and at 6 weeks, you are still early in the game bon a' petite - msp? i actually went to red lobster the other night, had boiled clams and scallop - i also confess to eating one of there delicious rolls - OMG there so good red lobster used to have all you can eat crab legs--------------yum so good - unfortunately no more hope you enjoyed your lunch

it must be extremely hard having to feed the kids, and deal w/their foods around you. i don't envy you give yourself a break - you do have to watch yourself, but if you have one bite or two on a rare occasion - oh well - don't kick yourself too hard - you'll get black and blue good luck
-
Janet your excitement and happiness is contagious getting a date for surgery makes everything more real i know there is a whole thread here on "what to bring to the hospital" i wore hospital gown, and their slippers., toothpaste was there - didn't bring any ipod or computer stuff , or a book to read basically, i just brought me, myself and i to the hospital i just rested, slept and walked - didn't do anything else you could bring chapstick, lips get dry good luck best wishes for a speedy recovery

hi there i think you are doing great your NUT did put pressure on you, telling you could lose 58 lbs by the end of the year, go at your own pace, and don't feel pressured - do how you are doing - which is terrific i can eat bread, i also love sandwiches, - had one slice once - just didn't feel it was worth it - so i don't have bread anymore you've been around the block enough to know we all have our stalls - we gotta ride them out its hard to see a before and after picture - and really see a difference with yourself - but trust me i see the difference and you look great in my case - i just watched as the numbers on the scale were going down - i never took my measurements, boo hoo - one day i looked in the full mirror after my shower - i stared and said "wheres my stomach?" as far as being able to eat anything - as long as your doing your protein, measuring your calories and carbs - you know when to stop eating - you can't ask for me your pictures are great take care

Still Cant Get Protein
ProudGrammy replied to billyvmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
billyvmom hi there checked your profile, don't know how far you are post-op. if you are very new to the sleeve, Protein is not as important as liquids, Water, broth, SF popsicles - push the drinking i was dehydrated once, couldn't keep meds down, vomitted all that good stuff - had to go to hospital for an IV to get me hydrated again protein will be added soon enough, now getting all your liquids in can't emphasize enough - just keep on drinking as far as loosing hair - i would rather be bald then ever be fat/overweight again good luck -
the "girls" at the dentist's office went berserk when they saw me today. they all knew that i had the WLS - but they hadn't seen me since about 45 lbs ago. i got so many compliments, i was turning red OMG  i was so excited to hear them the funniest thing happened next, the dentist enterred the room where we were all talking, he saw "my face" as he enterred the room and said hi he literally did a dble take - he said "WOW - look at you." we all laughed - but i was crying/happy so much inside. Not use to this flattery and stuff- i think i could get used to this
-
i heard others sleevers' talk about "sliders" - but since it never happened to me, i figured oh well. one day i had some plain WW popcorn started to eat, and i realized, wow i'm eating more than usual - thats when i looked at my DH with this "face" acknowledging that i found my 1rst and hopefully last slider oh well

How Much You've Lost
ProudGrammy replied to luckylady131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i asked my surgeon if he required a pre-op diet. he told me no i wish i had been stronger and gone on some what of a liquid diet prior to WLS i then would have either have lost a few lbs - instead i gained 12 lbs. egads don't tell anyone ok? - our secret DOS 12/15/11 235 9 months later 9/13/12 145 10 more lbs will be at goal-then i can join the Century Club Woo Hoo -
terriiann many people have 2nd thoughts before and after WLS, it is human nature to be scared and nervous for any surgery. prior to being sleeved after all those yo yo diets - all my health problems - i knew i had to have some kind of intervention since being sleeved 9 months ago, my health issues have lessened a lot, or are gone for good. I never had 2nd thoughts pre WLS or post WLS the sleeve will always be my BFF - DH close, but he never saved my life hope you feel better about having the sleeve done and continue the process - the sleeve is a very successful tool, you be good to it, and it will return the favor after being sleeved, you will feel healthier and happier - whole new feeling towards life good luck take care

Tired All The Time
ProudGrammy replied to NCsleever63's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
girlfriend 4 weeks - many people are still resting at home cuz they are so tired you get up early, then you exercise, then you do a full days work OMG - i'm tired looking at what you are doing in a day. Going to bed at 9:00 pm is fine for anyone who is tired from a normal days work. - but you are 4 weeks post WLS - this is a major surgery. Remember we're all different - some people go back to work quickly and run around, exercise and stuff no problems no shame in not being able to run a marathon yet take it slow while you are still recuperating did you doc bless all this exercise you are doing - is he even aware of it? hmmm maybe you should double check with the boss/dr/NUT slow down alittle on your exercise, you don't have to eliminate it, give yourself a break - take 2 days off during the week you have a whole life time in front of you to exercise you'll feel better one day at a time take care good luck -
Anyone Not Have An Issue With Hair Loss?
ProudGrammy replied to Raven21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Raven21i never lost any of my short, straight, thin, colored hair its true that many people come here saying this happened to them, or something else - so you hear a lot of stories with people having problems and venting but thats one thing this board is all about, asking questions, getting help, giving help too - and always allowed to vent People who have no problems with things such as hair loss, will come to the board to answer a question to a post like yours. like i had no hair loss - WooHoo don't fret over loss of hair. it may or may not happen I've heard from others they used "biotene"? - think thats the right name - it helps hair, i think after the fact - i'm sure others will respond about your post i betcha would rather some hair MIA for a while, - than being overweight for the rest of your life w/all sorts of health issues take care good luck with WLS -
congrats on successfully being sleeved glad you are going home tomorrow, it will be the first day of the rest of your healthier, happier, most wonderful life glad you are doing so well, good for you walking and drinking wishing you a speedy recovery good luck

Bad Eating And Gaining Weight Back:(
ProudGrammy replied to katrina81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
katrina81 good for you - coming "home", looking for help sorry you are going through this stuff, no support either, thats extra rough. no one need judge/lecture here, we're all your sleeve sisters/brothers. you told us what you are not doing - i'm sure you know that everything you are not doing, is what you need to do immediately if not sooner. you must drink 64 oz of Water - but you can work back up to this - slowly, but more and more each day. drinking is one if not the most important thing a sleever needs to do you must get your Protein in - very important since you did exercise before, hopefully you can start this up again. You went through a lot to prepare for this surgery/pre-op, tests , dealing w/insurance companies - maybe you paid out of pocket , traveled to Mexico maybe? i am sure you don't want all your efforts to be in vain you didn't stretch your sleeve, just go back to basics with your protein shakes/water you must get your protein in - drink your shakes - starting over, fresh new start - it can make you feel good, starting all over. you know what foods to eat - if you weren't tracking before-its very helpful to track all your food and water and exercise. Many people use MPS, and its very beneficial sounds like you were kindof getting in the dumps a bit, no support etc./then the worse you felt due to whatever, the more you ate, vicious cycle. you just got more and more bummed and upset. girl, as far as support goes - turn around - we're all here for you. come aboard and vent whenever you want to, ask questions again - and read other peoples questions and answers. i can tell you want this, you sound determined - i know you can do this please don't give up - you can to do this we're all behind you good luck oh no, i hope this didn't sound like a lecture, and no judgement here
