Nervous About Hospital Stay
ProudGrammy replied to MsShaunaMarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i only brought me, myself and I no book, nothing didn't feel like watching tv basically slept didn't feel that well, so didn't talk much (DH was in 7th heaven) DH brought me my sweats the next day btw - be sure you bring something comfortable to wear home - that won't bother your tummy/incisions good luck PS don't worry about spending the night in the hospital, nurses/dr were really nice spending the night in the hospital will be a piece of cake -
Katrina sweets have always been my weakness, doughnuts/cookies - especially good ol' chocolate to me the above foods are "real" sweets is that correct? if thats the case i have not had any sweets in over 9 months (totally amazing to me) or am i in denial and you are referring to any product that contains sugar? My Atkins Advantage Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar even has 1g of sugar

Telling Wveryone Or No One
ProudGrammy replied to Mich grand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i was surprised/pleased at the positive feedback i got from family. they were very excited, asked many questions, and were happy for me i told a few other people, response was different - nothing negative was ever said. no one said the common "easy way out" anything like that many people just looked at me and couldn't think of what to say next. since there was some silence i would say something like "this isn't the easy way out you know" then i would start going into my new way of eating, how little i ate - i was DEFENDING myself - how crazy is that didn't tell anyone since then............in the future who knows - 9 1/2 months post op - no intentions to tell anyone else -
talk to your dr being nauseous is a common side effect of WLS doc might prescribe Zophran, this helps feel better soon congrats on WLS good luck with your journey

ProudGrammy replied to ShannonK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ShannonK not sure, could be wrong but........when i used to diet and would loose a substantial amount of weight - i was told "your stomach does get smaller since you weigh less" - not positive but...... the walking your doing is great exercise, hope your knees feel better as they have less to hold up/carry you need to work harder at drinking more H20 - 40 oz??? it took me a long time, now i drink 64 oz plus - you can do it too congrats on your good work good luck in all your tomorrows -

Telling Wveryone Or No One
ProudGrammy replied to Mich grand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
day after WLS, roommate asked me what surgery i had? i thought a bit and then i told her. she was very nice and she said "thats just so extreme?" i listened to those words, slowly i realized, yes it is extreme, but thats how out of hand my health situation etc. had become. Initially i was shocked at her comment, but it was said with no malice - and she was right -

Hunger Hasn't Gone Away...why?
ProudGrammy replied to Cheryl Lawler Phillips's topic in The Guys’ Room
Hi Cheryl As i read your above sentence i immediately put my hand to my mouth and said OMG NUT- nutritionist, will advise him - he must start to listen to her. Rules w/the sleeve apply to all. there are many other people that also have large amounts of lbs to loose. he is not alone. there is a separate board for people who have different amounts of lbs to loose - extra amounts of weight. Might be a good idea for him to read The sleeve is here to assist us loose weight. You be nice to it, and it will return the favor. hubby didn't wake up one morning overweight- he's not going to wake up one morning with the weight gone He doesn't shouldn't have to tell anyone about the # of his weight loss - they might come back with comments like you said "how much weight did you have to loose to start with" People show their ignorance when they say such things he must/should stop weighing himself daily - the scale is the "devil" - no one should see the devil more than once a week. it is hard for anyone loosing weight to look in the mirror and recognize the weight they loss this is not a quick walk in the park............its a forever journey that is worth it God give me patience, just hurry up about it continue to read posts written on the board - they will be informative - tell/ask DH (darling husband) to read posts also sorry if this came off sounding like a "lecture" - not my intent - trying to help write back anytime with your questions good luck to you both today is a new day.... -
4My2boys WELCOME glad you are making your 1rst appearance on the board you will hopefully realize that last 10% and go for the WLS - you'll be so happy you did it for yourself you'll feel so much healthier and happier you will be able to enjoy those 2 young boys- all the more now that you can run and play with them, and be the healthy mom they need good luck
-
usually insurance companies require you to have at least a 40 BMI with co-morbities but.....i think if you 2-3 co-morbities you are approved with a 38 BMI
-
Diane you can read on the board that many people do have a drain - but most sleevers say it was not painful per my question, surgeon told me i wouldn't have a drain. do a search on drains, you'll see many responses and explanations check it out good luck
-
Meka congrats on your weight loss no more pain in your legs, thats a huge plus new cool sized clothes too, how exciting keep on doing what you are doing - its working for you good luck

What? Wait, What Do You Mean I Will Not Get My Surgery Till Next Year!
ProudGrammy replied to nanaspez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nanaspez is the doctors office/hospital close enough for you to go in person and talk to the nurse/office people - i always say go right to the source instead of talking on the phone bring your letter, if they still can't fit you in, they must "allow" you to see someone else you could also call the insurance company explaining your dilema that surgeon can't operatie til after the new year, hopefully they will give you an extension good luck sure things will work out
