Daily Goals--Need Some Input, Please.
ProudGrammy replied to Texarkolina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Tex Per your profile you've lost 38 lbs - is that mainly pre-op, or a combination of pre & post or is that 38 lbs all PO If you lost 38 pounds since WLS you are doing great 2 months later, many people think they will loose a ton of weight in a short time period, not gonna happen always have wondered if all sleevers have a NUT - sorry you don't, and guidance/help is unavailable. you could try and find a bariatric surgery support group to talk to other people - i had to go to 3 meetings/ support group prior to WLS. doesn't sound like your dr is that helpful, but maybe his office staff can direct you to a group. you are supposed to drink as many liquids/water as possible - at least 8 glasses - 64 oz you should have been drinking slowly at first, take your time - eventually when you can you can taker bigger sips do not ever use a straw do not ever drink soda, diet soda etc., anything that is carbonated never drink while you are eating anything - meal/snack once you are done eating - you can not drink anything for 30-45 minutes you should stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you eat do not graze - means do not eat throughout the day, stomach feels empty so you can eat some more, not allowed - only eat the 3 meals a day - no food in between cut small pieces of food to eat, chew your food with a vengeance into small pieces in your mouth, chew very slowly - after food is in mouth, put silverware down, you are not in big hurry to eat wait at least 2-3 minutes before you continue to eat since you don't have a NUT - i would eat 3 meals a day (thats what my NUT told me) i'm not allowed Snacks you should get at least 60g of Protein in when you eat, you should eat protein first, like chicken, fish, egg Water is very very very important did you get any of the above info?? sounds like you have been left on your own, very sorry about that calories? - that varies with your NUT - i'm not her, but at 2 months out, i don't remember exactly, maybe i was eating 600 calories? are you measuring your food? at your stage per my NUT i was eating 1/3 cup volume of food, thats it i.e. i would cook chicken, cut into small pieces and put in measuring cup - when i was 6 months i was allowed to eat 2/3 cup - WooHoo at your early stage especially, you must measure exercise - as much as you can -3 times a week to warm up into the routine - cardio, weights - exercise into 5x week - that being said - do as i say not as i do walking is great exercise too above is just a start, hopefully others will pick up where i dropped off, or give better comments to what i wrote come back for refresher course anytime, this is a start - hope it help others will chime in too - write back any time good luck -

the sleep study wasn't too bad went for the "overnight", they put wires on my head, no big deal - didn't get much sleep cuz they periodically woke me was diagnosed w/sleep apnea received a small machine w/mask - didn't mind wearing, didn't make hardly any noise big improvement from the good ol' days when it was a big machine making lots of sounds/noise - my dad used to have shortly after WLS - had an oximeter (think thats what its called) at home - they attached/put on my finger for the night so it couldn't fall off after test results i was called and said i don't need the sleep mask anymore !!!! Eating 2 Weeks Before Surgery Question.
ProudGrammy replied to Robert Olson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Robert Indulge?? Did you know that people have been shot for less but......many people, yes me, go out on "food funerals" - there last big meal this will be your last big meal, buttttt - after WLS and a period of time, you will be able to eat your normal stuff, in teeny bits, moderation, you know that song sounds like the "big" indulge you would like to have - chicken, something like that, is no big deal - have a good time, have a drink on me - H20 of course in my case i had a "few" last meals. i survived to talk about it 9 1/2 months Post WLS - i am down 90 lbs - 10 til goal have a nice week-end best of luck on WLS speedy recovery -

ProudGrammy replied to mchez1986's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
mchez get where you are coming from difficult situation being excited about the WL - yet friends are heavy, and it might be embarrassing for them to hear what you want to talk about - or they just are kindof ashamed of themselves. - whatever the reason, things might not go well i understand these are close friends of yours, but don't let them bring you down - don't let them do that, don't you fall back to bad eating habits to be friends with them more, you know what i mean you wanted this WLS for you and your future - please hold on to that, you'll continue to flourish! 65 lbs down, weigh way to go - take care, keep up the exercise and continue to eat well, you'll be fine -
Where Have You Noticed Your Weight Loss First? :)
ProudGrammy replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i didn't notice any changes for a long time - didn't have old clothes that i could compare that all of a sudden fit, didn't fit etc. you/ i just can't look at yourself/myself and see a change - even though i knew it was going on FINALLY one day got out of the shower and stood in front of the full length mirror. Stared at myself for a couple of minutes - and said to myself "what, where is my stomach?" honest, that was the first thing i finally noticed - stomach was gone, expect for only a teeny bit of hanging skin next thing i noticed later, my big rear end was flat with a heck of a lot of excess skin going down the back of my legs flat rear ends aren't that attractive - buttttt better a flat tush, than a gigantic tush main thing left is my dble chin - won't/can't loose that -

chad2rad the above sounds like a step in the right direction, wish you the best with your personal life - that being said.......... you need to concentrate on your upcoming WLS Good for you that you bought the staples to drink right after surgery. Heating pad and gas strips will be helpful PO get as much rest as possible, drink - take care of yourself work with the sleeve, it will be wonderful/helpful in getting you to a better place. improved health and happiness. you must/should concentrate on this alot. you have a lot of work to do with eating properly and slowly, chewing, drinking as much liquid as possible you must deal with these important things concerning the sleeve for the rest of your long healthier life hope someone can help you out with your drive, and a little post op help like others have said, many people take care of themselves after surgery and are fine good luck to you speedy recovery -

Cant Get My Liquids In !
ProudGrammy replied to jacksmommy719's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
newbie Don't worry about getting a lot of protein right after WLS - liquids are much more important using medicine cups to sip your water is a good idea - sip your water very slowly, but as often as you can. Push the fluids is very important, but yes it can be difficult. Do the best you can You could have broth as a liquid - popsicles also count hopefully drinking will come easier in time - you must keep trying For acid reflux your dr could give you a script for Prilosec (or something else), that should help a lot good luck to you and all fellow newbies -

December Sleevers Stats...
ProudGrammy replied to mchez1986's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
mchez1986 sorry you are feeling so down some of us loose weight slower than others. thats ok - we're all here for the long haul. you've already accomplished so much - pat yourself on the back "try and do my best to eat right" its hard to always stay on the straight and narrow - things can get harder when you are in a down mood. don't sabatoge yourself now - you feel down, so you eat more/badly since you are upset. / vicious cyle - we've all been there good for you that you keep working out at the gym no therapist here, but it sounds like you are depressed over whats going on with your weight/life do you have any friend/relative you can talk to? (besides us of course) not necessarily about weight/just talk as a friend. it doesn't matter how long it takes a person to cross the finish line, as long as you cross it - or get close (i know this is easy to say, but.....) don't ever compare other peoples weight loss, time frame etc. other peoples stats are not important...just look to improving your hard work w/the sleeve never ever compare to others with WLS or in life in general - you know that BTW your weight loss is great - be proud you are the only important person here thats important - be good to you, you can turn this around - i know you can good luck take care my friend :) -
mjrevel great when things like that happen - many more NSV will happen too happy for you
-
pooh you can have candy in moderation that being said, candy is my weakness too - i've found out that i'm finally strong enough to say no to candy for the past 9 1/2 months and for the rest of my healthier life
-
tmartin87 you have quite a day in front of you good luck on your appts. and seminar sending vibes your way for approval from insurance - then on way to a healthier happier life with the sleeve
