@VictoriusCarmelita there are always a few rotten apples in a barrel. don't let them scare you away. most OP are great here. ask your questions and you'll get good, helpful, info advice, hear experiences. read all the sites here, many others have similar questions to you. use the search in the top right hand corner. jump into conversations with your comments. Newbies are people too!! LOL "enjoy" jumping thru the hoops of insurance!! most of us been their see you around the neighborhood. good luck @ElseeG glad things are going well finding a great support group and nutritionist - terrific, important, helpful way to start your voyage good luck kathy

Before picture at my heaviest
ProudGrammy replied to it'sonlythefirststep's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@it'sonlythefirststep pic alert, pic alert always good for newbies to take their pic before surgery. take it again while you are loosing weight. i always hid from camera. no old pics. glad i took before sleeve to remind me what i used to look like!! I don't recognize myself, but in a morbid way, i don't want to forget what i looked like in my "previous" life!! - 3 weeks PO, congrats on loosing 20 lbs!! kathy -
@CurlyV good for you!! most of us hate pics from the past. seeing the weight on our body. for me (and you too?), i think its good to remember our roots. i keep a copy of my before pic in my wallet. i proudly show it off when WLS subject comes up. i suggest all newbies et al do the same!! good luck with your surgery - kathy

Are there other diabetics in here who have to take an A1c
ProudGrammy replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@apositivelife4me I don't think there should be a prob. The A1c is a 3 month average #, good to improve your your eating now - but doubt it will make a significant change in your #. Surgeon knows that shortly after WLS- your #s will decrease/improve with your eating/lifestyle changes. get rid of/stay away from the sweets, drink more water, you are on your way. good luck - kathy -
@RussT wonderful congrats kathy

@aNYCdb et al i stand alone!! I would like to have some info about age, weight, - don't know why we don't share. None of us know each other/see each other in person. (maybe an exception?) if i saw one of you at the store - i wouldn't talk about my weight, age etc. don't understand why we strangers, threw a monitor don't share their weight, age - whatever - if you are 200 lbs or 400 lbs, we won't think any less of you then we do now! telling us you are a youngun, middle age or/ol' fart like me!! LOL "You Tell Me Yours, and I'll Tell You Mine" kathy

@jackersducky curious to see how things have been going this past month just because you or OP screw up for a while, as "they" say, tomorrow is a new day.. in the real world - most of us deal with stress at times. in the past many/most of us used food to help "dull the pain" that's how we got here. want to eat bad stuff? GET OVER IT!! hope things are improving good luck kathy

After surgery safe for vacation?
ProudGrammy replied to angjade2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
being sleeved in around 6 weeks - hope all goes well, with a very speedy, healthy recovery "we're all different" famous common words by many WL peeps i was never as tired as many OP are, and more tired than some LOL i've read on the board that saw peep have one day surgery in Mexico (or state side too) and they are up and around shopping and stuff. you'll be one week PO - you prob won't be doing jumping jacks - but going on this short trip sounds ok to me. you have my permission to go - LOL- take a nap while DH is driving. you should be able to tolerate his driving "this" time. close your eyes and sleep. of course if you feel rotten - don't go - disregard everything i said above. except what i just said now take care kathy -

ProudGrammy replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
to all my chip and dip friends many sleevers other WL peep can eat chips and dip (shouldn't of course) without prob - (me too) hopefully most won't, especially newbies. i CAN eat too many chips, as they are sliders, have done a few times over past 6 years i'm still alive to talk about it - but i wish i couldn't eat those darn chips!! Newbies beware - nooooo, don't do it!! even though i have - "do as i say, not as i do!!" kathy -
