When Should I Tell My Boss?
ProudGrammy replied to Babysteppin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Babysteppin i would wait to tell her you are having surgery, til insurance has approved, and hopefully by then you will realize that having WLS is the opportunity of a lifetime to improve your health, life etc. - and you won't cancel if you want to tell your boss that you will be having WLS - thats great, but she doesn't have the right to ask - you have no obligation to tell her what surgery you are having if she pushes for an explanation about pending surgery, i wouldn't lie, i would say something like its "personal" and leave it like that - she should get the hint some people suggest you say you are having your gall bladder out, something like that - your decision what you want or don't want to say i agree that giving notice for pending surgery is a good idea you could say to her, before any approval, that you might be having surgery in the near future - you are still discussing with surgeon - this is true good luck with everything -

Realistic Monthly Goals For The First 6 Months
ProudGrammy replied to Ready4success's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ready4success the difference between losing 10 lbs back when before surgery - is that those 10 lbs eventually came back with the help of the sleeve, and your hard work - weight should not be regained good luck -

Longest Week Of My Life
ProudGrammy replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ShrinkyDinkMe22 it is hard waiting. absorb all the information dr. talks to you about with Barrett's at your appt. Thursday i remember someone last week said they had barratts, yet they had successful WLS if your dr insists on no WLS with barretts, definitely go for a 2nd opinion don't give up on the sleeve, hopefully you can find a dr. to perform WLS - if it really is ok to have the sleeve with barretts anxious to hear what happened at the dr good luck PS****edit here responding to your post above- wanting the sleeve over RNY,gastric bypass - I totally agree about your reasons for the sleeve, hope things can work out so you can be sleeved -
SleeveShelly "old habits die hard" you might have/probably ate fast in the good ol' days? its hard, but we must change our eating time/habits with the sleeve. thats one reason the sleeve helps us. tummy doesn't have much room to eat alot, and if you/I eat too fast - you, i feel sick. Pre-surgery - i also "inhaled" my food, like the plate was gonna be taken away from me soon, so i better hurry up and eat. since the food/plate was never removed, i could get a second helping no need to hurry, i won't take your plate away take a bite of food, put your fork/spoon down., relax chew, take a sec/2-3 minutes, and continue to eat slllllowly it will take practice, but i have confidence in you that you will do great good luck

Losingitforgood hmmmm, divorce 80% range???? sounds a little too high for me not sure where those stats came..from..... relationships can change after WL - you are a different person in various ways, confidence etc. i've heard from this board that the spouse/significant other can be afraid the new "you" could stray away since they are now thinner/more confident, feel better about themselves and life person all of a sudden wants/needs/gets some type of freedom we all do change during our life times - all people do to a point buttt hopefully things can get worked on dealt with a friend might get jealous all of a sudden about your new found appearence - weight loss once again we're all different 9 1/2 months post op - changes/adjustments ??? we're as happy as we were 20 years ago when we got married - actually my health has improved so much - my happiness/confidence shines more - so yeah, i guess Tom and i ARE in a happier place

When Does Hunger Come Back?
ProudGrammy replied to TamaraS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When does hunger return? answers to this question will vary some people might regain their hunger at a very early part after WLS - while others might never have their hunger return.... or somewhere in the middle in my case, the "honeymoon" was over at about 8 1/2 months started to feel twinges of hunger - but i'm ok. could be head hunger will love my sleeve for the rest of my longer, healthier, happier life good luck -
