    Reaching Goal

mistyw how long did it take you to gain your excess weight ? your new sleeve helps you loose the weight, but the weight is not going to come off over night. doesn't work that way it is hard waiting, "watching" those lbs go away. but........we should not weigh ourselves daily, only weigh ourselves once a week or less. Hard to stay away from scale for a whole week, but try i agree that taking measurements is very important - those #s might decrease sometimes, while your weight doesn't show any movement. Those improved measurements might help you get those new pair of jeans Try not to worry about how quickly you loose the weight, continue to do your best, you'll do great it shouldn't matter how long it takes you to successfully loose all the weight you want, after all, we've got the rest of our lives don't stress too much - i know easier said than done good luck

    **help**

Tstorm1070Being told to wait 1 1/2 hours after you eat, before you can drink??.......your NUT must be a sadist I wait 30- 45 minutes tops, before i drink. i went cold turkey, stopping drinking through meals - very hard to do, but it worked for me. other sleevers have trouble w/water drinking too. it is dificult to break a habit that has been done all our lives i know you can deal with/ solve your Water problems good luck

Head Challenge! 15 Days Post Op

Scotty I record my tv shows and go right past all commercials, so i don't have to watch all the tempting food commercials - no peanut butter/chocolate chip Cookies for me its never too early/or late to start tracking your liquids/foods, keeping records of Protein, carbs etc. many people here use MFP (my fitness pal) great that you are drinking slowly, sipping - try and keep track of how much Water you are drinking you need to drink as much as possible always (64 oz) at least, but for now you should keep track of your H20 intake, so you know how much/little you've drank. you don't want to get dehydrated, if you are aware that your #s are too low, than slowly try and push yourself harder. Warning Warning - you must drink like a fish - they have plenty of protein  having fantasies about food is ok, but......its kind of like torturing yourself, TRY not to think about food, especially at this early stage. eventually you will be able to eat anything in very small portions, but not for a while you can have that occasional couple of bites of a chocolate chip cookie, but for right now, try and get your mind out of the gutter/ bakery / bread section., all the same thing i'm sure you can proceed well with this journey - BUT....all NEWBIES et al should be aware that this is an eternal journey that is/can be difficult. harder at the beginning while your adjusting slowly to your new way of life The journey w/the sleeve is rewarding, healthier, happier, better life - well worth sacrifices you must make, and rules you need to follow good luck

    Surgery Oct 5Th No Energy!

valdosta per your profile, congrats on loosing 35 lbs vitamins are always helpful, you do need to take them soon lack of energy is very common, you are only 6 days PO - being tired is normal it must be hard to be in your situation with the kids being sick. hard for any parent, but just having major surgery, must be awful - anyone you can ask/beg to help you out for a bit. don't be too proud, you need to ask for help sometimes, family member/friend/neighbor - or even hiring a sitter for a day, having her take kids to dr. - letting you rest. if finances aren't a problem i would definitely hire someone for a day or two, even for just a 1/2 a day - so you can get your well deserved rest/nap hope kids get better soon, so you can get a break - glad your being persistant with your Water, good job good luck w/your journey to better health for the kids - and you too
  8. the other day i met with trainer i had years ago. she said i looked great etc. etc. - can't hear that enough. but, turns out she is quitting, and i was her last client - go out with the best, right??? yesterday met w/new trainer/ a guy. he was amazing - all trainers teach differently, he was much stricter/kept me busy, "break" between exercises weights we walked the track - it was great, heart kept beating away. very excited to continue - next class on saturday. its been a long time since i did the eliptical, used to do it for 45 minutes. did 5 minutes yesterday!!! OMG i have to get back on that horse, slowly should have done this months ago, never too late - this is the beginning of a journey with exercise, something i knew i should have done long time ago. not gonna beat myself over the head, past is past. NEWBIES - start exercising as soon as you are allowed - walking is always good at the beginning if you've been sleeved for a while, its never too late too start exercising

    Back To Work

Justine welcome back to work hope you took it slow, and had a good day your bud
  11. response to post 5 kelly Do you have a NUT? i was on liquids/clear/shakes, soft foods, per my NUT for the first 2-3 weeks - gradually forward to solids Your NUT approved you within a couple of weeks to eat solids, right? You didn't progress on your own, right??? Big discussion earlier, that someone wall allowed to eat a meatball!!! if thats what your NUT said - great - but if no one is guiding you - please just don't eat a meatball/solid cuz you are able to Ok, if your NUT blessed you to eat solids after a couple of weeks, great. if you didn't have a NUT, well, maybe you went too quickly into solids. Even though you found out you could eat all foods after a couple of weeks, doesn't mean you have to eat these solids. you had major surgery, and now have a new tummy. your tummy should be re-cuperating, let it rest. its not too late to go backwards a little, having alot of liquids, and maybe Protein shake. Are you drinking 64 oz of water/liquids? water/liquids are very important, always, forever and a day - but more so at the beginning. you are only 2/3 weeks Post WLS go back to basics - always drink - but don't drink 1/2 hr before meals, don't drink during meals, and drink 40-60 minutes after meals if you were told to proceed to solids, you should only take small size bites, put the silverware down, rest a bit - you must chew your food to death. you must take small bites of food, chew and chew some more, taking a break between the next bite - repeating, just because you can take larger bites without chewing much - this is not how you treat the sleeve. there are rules that should be followed by chewing slowly your tummy will become more full, eating, slowing down between bites - very important all the above is IMO - but many true/valid statements hope others jump in with more advice best of luck to you

    Update!

belaire30 congrats, great job everyone should take their measurements, shows as much as weight, if not more NEWBIES, if your a month out, its not too late, 6 weeks whatever unfortunately i kept meaning to take my measurements, didn't happen so..............do as i say, not as i do
  13. lolly IMO, i would call your new employer, askingif you could delay your start day. you want to make sure you feel fine, but the truth is you are making a move from one state to another - things would be better if you could wait to start a new job your time of employment sounds too close to WLS - even if you feel fine post WLS (which many many people do, returning to work within a week) just sounds too close for comfort good luck

    What Is Wrong With Me?

Brandydo or do not there is no try yoda
  15. ProudGrammy

    How Much At One Month?

NEWBIES as long as you have been drinking your Water, getting in your Protein, sticking to calories your NUT suggested - you are all fine, you will loose weight differently from others. you should never compare yourselves when someones has a lot of weight to loose - their BMI is higher, their weight will come off quicker at first, then it will stabalize and they will continue to loose their weight if you have a lower BMI, (under 40) you won't loose as much/quickly at first, compared to someone with a higher BMI - but that doesn't mean you are a slow looser. you are all doing great keep up the good work

Men: Telling "the Guys" About Your Surgery

OneMan ok, i'm calm now, i stopped laughing, I'm wiping my eyes, i'm ok now your one way possible true discussion with yourself/buddies was "kindof" amusing i am laughing w/you NOT at you, promise...ok, on to your good question how you guys approach others concerning your WLS, people might respond differently, probably is harder/touchier subject for you to tell your buddies many of us, choose not to tell any one cuz it is too uncomfortable for them IMO - if you are telling your friends/family, you don't/won't know what to expect to hear from them i don't think it matters if you are a guy or gal - just approach the subject/slowly/carefully, and see where the beer falls you might get some jokes from some of your buddies, i don't know - but after the dust settles, you are talking to someone you are friends with. if you think some of your buddies will make too much fun at the situation, don't tell them - won't hurt their feelings theres no one you have to tell period. if you know someone is going to act/respond in a bad way, there not worth telling. but,, if these guys or whomever you tell are your friends/family they will listen and respect any decision you have made everyone might not be in favor of your decision, but thats ok, their entitled to their own thoughts as are you guys are different with certain personal stuff, they feel funny talking about WLS maybe you could get other, better responses in the "man room" best wishes good luck

    Two Days Until Surgery

NewbieI'm wearing a scarlet S today for all the support you need never having surgery, i can only imagine what your thoughts/fears might be if you've never been "put under" - - OMG its a different/new experience as you are on the stretcher going toward the OR - they will give you something to calm you down/nerves, after that was said to me, i didn't remember anything, either will you anesthesia, you will be asleep,- take a nap - WLS is over , before you know it, you slept right through it!! You will wake up in your room with nurses around you. you will have meds IV - you might be uncomfortable, in a little pain, gas, nautious - but these are things as sleevers we should be aware will/might happen post surgery in my case, i had a little pain, no gas, vomitting etc. don't dwell on the possibilities of problems, no complications - your recovery will go well its totally understandable being nervous, wednesday will come and go, and you will have finally been sleeved whats left now is the best long time forever journey of your life ride the wave to a healthier happier new you in sleeveland "nervous about being put under and dying" don't worry about dying ok?, dead men tell no lies  best of luck to you on Wednesday
