Does anyone seem to bruise easier post op?
ProudGrammy replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when there was "more" (fat et al) to our bodies - we had more cushioning - now that theres less of us, we don't have as much protection against some bruises kindof like - now that we don't have as much "skin" as when we were heavier - we are now more prone to being colder -
Its my 2 year anniversary!

hi newbie welcome aboard - always room for one more great news about WLS-you will love this long forever journey you will feel better, healthier and happier the sleeve will "assist" you in losing weight, but i'm sure you know that you must do alot of hard work today tomorrow and always - but it will be worth it lots to do next 6 months - but it will be worth it once you get an official DOS - and "move forward" always nice to see a lovely, new smiling face good luck with this wonderful journey into sleeveland -

big congrats no complications, good recovery and afterwards doing well,,successful hard work does pay off your new picture smile says it all, how happy you are -
after 100 lb weight loss, I wanted new picture for drivers license talked to clerk about my wt loss and WLS - he told me he had gastric bypass 5 years ago (small world)- and except for about 5-10 lbs he sometimes teeters with, he's doing great (water, Protein et al - doing terrific) - he lost 170 lbs and he looked great even though clerk didn't have the sleeve, its nice to see someone "long term" post WLS - continue to be successful i have heard some people do gain all their weight back, i guess that can happen to any of us (not to me of course!!! ) he called other clerk over, showed my old license to her - they both couldn't believe it was me!!! If i do say so myself ( and I do!!!) my new picture is pretty darn good - all modesty aside i DO look great - feel great too

dust holy moly guy, my head is spinning seeing your progress towards approval and scheduling of WLS. Sounds you and DW have made the wise decision to have the sleeve done as OP said - it is possible/probable that you will hear some negative comments about WLS - these problems are very genuine and unfortunate but they can/do happen - no one likes serious side effects - as in all surgeries - anything can happen It is good to know things can happen go wrong, - you should hear the good and bad about the sleeve -unfortunately bad stories stick out for NEWBIES et al. that being said......all hands up from people who love their sleeve - i think more than 99% of hands would be waving in the air with enthusiasm -my hand would be amongst them hope you go with your instincts, you will find as you are losing weight you will live a longer, healthier, happier life your two adorable kids and lovely wife will love the new healthier you best wishes for an early DOS good luck happy holidays

Three Months Out & Now the Real Work is Beginning
ProudGrammy replied to PJ_Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
PJ hi there taking accountability for "life" actions is great!!!, knowing your downfalls is half the battle (think i said that right) it is hard to get rid of the past, lose all our bad habits - sounds like you are doing great, on the right track going to work early, coming home late - its understandable that you are tired at the end of the day - not wanting to exercise. many people can do it all, exercise after work et al - thats great - but its not for everyone if you had that "electric bull" that would kick you in the .......... to go exercise that would be great, but most of us don't have that bull if you can get up early great, but.........maybe just do the bulk of the gym on friday night and weekends since you are tired during the week - i think the idea of doing videos is great!!! you just have to pull yourself off the couch - easier said than done??? but i know you can do it!!!! I/we were never told that WLS would be easy, the sleeve is "helpful" to deal with our weight problems, health problems and even "mental" happy feelings-but we do have to do all the hard work for the rest of our longer, healthier, happier life - hard work never hurt anyone?? (well maybe a little ) good for you that you are back on MFP - , its hard to do daily, but it really helps- you know that!!! "not perfect?" shame on you - perfection isn't all that its cracked up to be - i think you are great I'm off to the gym now........gotcha, really going to the dentist take care good luck happy holidays btw bud 3 months PO 62 lbs gone forever WooHoo -

holly i wish there was a way for for ALL pre-sleevers and present sleevers to watch your amazing video it would be such a boost for all - would show everyone there is hope for all - never give up et al there is not enough time or space on this little computer monitor to say how amazing you are, and yes, what an inspiration you are to all you have taught your kids so much by the way you've lived your life these past couple of years so happy for you congratulations -

delayed restriction
ProudGrammy replied to Thinner Peace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thinner Peace You didn't feel much restriction post WLS of 6/13/12, correct??? you lost 67 lbs in that time period though - good for you thats wonderful now 12/16/12 you DO feel a restriction?? sounds that way? i/many people don't feel a restriction til they get to their solid stage - you didn't feel that restriction for a longer time period - i don't think thats common but...you still lost those nasty 67 lbs, and now you do feel the necessary good restriction I never understand how people can say they can eat more than what they used to, more than the average sleever??? Whatever portion your NUT tells you to eat whether it be 1/3 cup, 2/3 cup or 1 cup - thats all you should be putting on your plate - please don't put more on plate to "test" to see if your tummy can hold it,ok-promise eating the proper amount is the only way to go with your food intake -IMO of course (hope i understood what you said - and i spoke back correctly sounds like you are doing great - started at 230 lbs - down to 163 lbs - goal in 23 lbs - good for you good luck -

COnative, JerseyGirl68 thanx for your nice words  "wise grammy"??? hmmm, wish my daughter would realize that more often my 100 lb weight loss?! - i do proudly say "i'm amazing" Only kidding, well, actually i'm not thanx for making my evening continued good luck to you both happy holidays -
Jane glad you had a great surgery, no complications, 14 lbs post WLS - WooHoo shakes can be hard to deal with protein from the shakes is important - but at your early stage of one week post op, concentrate more on your Water intake - you must drink as much as possible maybe mix shake with water, making shake thinner, might be easier to drink sounds like you are struggling a bit, but soooo glad you don't regret WLS you will gradually feel better, get used to the drinking, eating - things DO get better you are just opening the door to sleeveland - where you will find yourself getting healthier and happier, trust me!!! would i lie to you???? one day at a time good luck i know you will be successful happy holidays

Vertical Sleeve 15 months
ProudGrammy replied to Brown Eyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hey brown eyes congrats on losing 105 lbs this past year - ,that is terrific !!! i'm glad you realize how well you have been doing - the suggestions from OP are great - maybe even go back to basics for a week with liquids - to shake your body up a bit we all have stalls unfortunately but i'm sure you know that - all stalls shall pass i bet you are feeling healthier now without having to take certain meds/CPAP being afraid/'concerned" you will relapse, gain weight - most of us have that "concern" - we just have to keep working hard - so nothing bad does happen one thing that will ALWAYS keep me going, not relapsing, is the strong memory i have of taking all my old meds, my not being able to walk well - and even not wanting to leave the house because i felt so awful about my appearance. All the above plus more - i NEVER EVER want to go back there being "overweight" and unhealthy i'm one year post op, so i'm still early in the maintenence processt - it will be hard for me too, but i must and will continue to be successful - and you can do this too think back when you were heavier, sicker et al - it was no fun I see your 40 years old - per profile, i don't know how much more weight you have to lose - whether its 50 lbs or 150 - you have to stay strong, and you can and WILL be successful once you reach goal - this new life style will continue for the rest of your longer, healthier, happier liife You - we ALL - have to remain strong - exercise your hands alot, by pushing yourself away from the table!! You can and will be successful!!!! try not to think about what "might" happen wrong - concentrate on the fact that "OMG i have lost over 100 lbs - I can keep going and lose more - and maintain!!!!" I only see good for you in the new year head up you got this good luck bud happy holidays -

To measure weight or volume
ProudGrammy replied to ArtSong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NUT told me from beginning to always measure the volume sofw said it well........ ie eating 1/3 cup volume of peanuts can be a lot - whereas 1/3 cup volume of chicken (i will cut up small peices and measure in cup) won't be as many pieces, but will be same correct quantity (hope i said that right) won't be the same weight as peanuts (the chicken) but the volume is correct - that is what your tummy can hold -
