    I hate this surgery.

alley-gator you are getting a bunch of great responses i have to jump in here and say something about gettinMeBack holy moly OMG girlfriend - you should be one of the many " poster child/board successful sleevers " you look amazing!!!! WooHoo i think the guys will have to put their sunglasses on when they see you alley-gator see what you can look forward to??? you might have to take a couple of deep sighs - get it together, but you can and will be successful, i know it
  3. jcsleeved2013 there are some meds you can take, and some you shouldn't call doc - and he'll give you the green light on his choice of meds feel better soon good luck
  4. [ cutesingle the immediate answer to your question is "NO" - i was lucky and my mind turned off when it was bedtime and i slept well early PO i was so tired that i nodded off pretty quickly don' know what time it was cuz i was asleep i know you are going to lose weight its inevitable that the weight will come off - your stomach is now 85% smaller than it used to be, you can't and won't eat too much i know you are following all the rules with drinking and eating - you will be successful, i promise!!! but....don't hurry the process thinking you will lose one gazillion lbs in a week, don't lose sleep over how much you are or aren't losing in a week don' ever compare your small or large weight losses to anyones elses on the board - or anywhere, ok?? easier said than done, but you gotta calm down and get your necessary rest your typing away on the computer making all sorts of noise - its 3:38 am - i knew i heard something - it was you?? close your pretty eyes, count chicken breasts or yogurt good night!!!

    I hate this surgery.

hun sounds like you didn't have any physical problems during or after surgery???, thats great so the main problem is you are now hungry??? you must have been aware that you would not be eating immediately after the surgery, and your way of life would be changing??????eating much less food - doing a whole new way of life with your eating you made the wise decision to have WLS involving cutting out 85% of your tummy. this is not a decision i hope you made lightly - you chose to have major surgery!!!! i could tell you look smart you wanted to improve yourself, be healthier, happier for yourself, family, for whatever other reasons too looks like you have a lovely young family. you want to be able to run along that cute little one, cute big one too get healthy for them in addition to you of course don't give up so quickly please ??? i "don't think" you mean it when you say "wish i was back where i started"??? do you mean you want to be that unhealthy person forever??? I "think" i know that you want to be better, and not go back to your old ways, that brought you to this point in your life i feel bad that YOU feel bad - but please, give the sleeve a chance, its barely 2 weeks old, don't give up on it we all deserve a second chance chin up don't give in/up before you've really started good luck

    Frequently Asked Questions

bolivister i see your DOS is 1/30/13 as far as length of time off from work??? varies with all sorry, but no one can give you a definitive answer, not even your doc the one thing we have in common, is that we're all different. some people feel fine almost immediately - 3-5 days already back at work. others take one - two weeks, or more off put in for your time off, maybe 2 weeks to be on the safe side if you feel ready to go back earlier, go for it if you are still exhausted after 2 weeks or so, take more time off you need to re-cup after this major surgery. if you go back to work too early, you could relapse with your recovery of course, these above situations need to be discussed with employer pre-WLS good luck speedy recovery

    Ounces? Volume or weight?

ladyhummingbird imo/per my NUT - you should always use a measuring cup - NEVER a scale good luck bud
  14. ProudGrammy

    Ounces? Volume or weight?

ladyhummingbird my NUT told me to use the "volume" After the sleeve procedure, your stomach can only hold so much volume. This volume is much less than before surgery. You food has to be measured by the amount of space it will take up in your sleeve. It's the old "feathers vs. cannon ball" saying. How much space is taken up by 2 oz of feathers vs. the space taken up by 2 oz of cannon ball. You can put a 2 oz weight of feathers in your stomach but there is probably not enough space to hold it. You can put a 2 oz weight of cannon ball in your stomach and there will be room to spare. good luck

    F ing starveing

edz2129644 love your analogy i "hear" pre-op diet can be very hard. preps you up for the real thing, you'll lose a bit now - this will help the liver situation like a few others, my doc didn't put me on a pre-op diet, didn't require me to lose weight prior to WLS in a way i wish i was told/forced to do a pre-op diet - (of course i could/should have done it on my own ) pre-op diet will get you used to "not eating" at first, then making you drink alot everyone says it will get better, so i'm sure you'll manage these next few days DOS 1/19/13 - one week from Thursday - it will be here before you know it then you'll experience the long and wonderful road to health and happiness - roads can get bumpy at times - but usually all will be wonderful good luck on your continueing pre-op diet, you will survive best wish WLS speedy recovery
  16. Back2Me2012 hi there, glad you are on the mend you received the good advice to call your surgeon, but IMO, its great to check w/the board, but if you/anyone EVER have doubts/problems with your surgery results, health outcome, CALL DR congrats on your weight loss, i know you'll do great on the road in front of you
  17. Mama hi there good to see you it is great to hear from other sleevers - BUT to you and others who "peak" around we want to hear your words of wisdom too, really - the more, different comments the better new years resolution - coming here more often?? WooHoo you are doing amazing - almost 70 lbs down in less than 4 months - way to go!!!! success on your continueing weight loss journey
  18. Sarah24 i don't think you can ever get too many suggestions for a good food product. i'm gonna check it out but........if i don't like it, i know where you live here on the board thanx bud
  19. LookingAhead congrats on your amazing transformation i hear you should wait til you lose ALL the weight you need/want to lose before you have any plastics things will "firm up" a bit after a year or so wait til you've lost that last 20 lbs - and a good year later, get the plastics done at that time its worth the wait, you've done everything else perfectly, waited a long time to lose this weight, wait a little longer to have plastics done right arms, thighs, tummy at same time??? not sure if doc would want to do that - he might say its way too much to handle for you - the recovery situation ???? this is just what i've heard, but..............??? i will not be having plastics, i wanted a face lift, PS adviced against it he said i could go to another PS that would take my money - but in his opinion - my face has too much elasticity , surgery wouldn't be very successful he didn't feel a face lift would work for long how about that, an honest dr??? he suggested a "lazor package" of 4 individual treatments in his office area. they use some sort of heat "massager" rub it all over your face & neck for over a half hr. IMO since he adviced against / was very candid/ up front about the face lift situations, i'm strongly thinking about the lazor treatments to keep up the results, you need to do yearly - but your spending less at a time (I'm 59 - so only have a few good years left so won't have to pay that much ) success to you on those lasts few lbs you've done terrific - and i can see you are looking great good luck with plastics in the future

plz post before and after pics ! :)

Lisa,, Mater,Belledebaubayau,Hockeymom -take a bow!!!! you all were "brave" to post your pictures any other sleevers, keep those inspirational pictures coming do as i say, not as i do, i'm still shying away from camera , but working on it....film at 11:00 PLUS - fill out profile and ticker, "pretty" please? so nice to see ticker and profile, helpful - not to mention i'm/ we're nosey Dana, I agree it is nice for all to sign their name - but........ i never sign my name after my post - my name "Kathy" in my signature you know how it gets, as you get older, becoming a "proudgrammy", penmanship goes downhill!!! - so its easier to "sign" my name once keep those pictures, profiles, tickers and signatures coming
  21. ProudGrammy

plz post before and after pics ! :)

Kenny great pictures you look great - from before to after picture - no wonder wife is holding you so tight - there is less of you to hold on to!!! but dude - you haven't filled out that profile, ticker i.e. what was your starting weight, current weight, DOS your weight loss? - now thats what I'm talking about!! congrats

Lisa'slonsinit i agree it would be nice for all to fill in profile and ticker knowing profile helps in answering certain questions. (we're all a little nosey too!!) height, age, DOB, beginning weight, current weight , pre-op , post-op DOS - weight - et al Pictures??? not me!!!! (edit :do as i say, not as I do) btw Lisa - nice before picture
  23. ProudGrammy

    Woo hoo!

cmaloney great feeling - happy for you welcome to onderland congratulation
  24. Marsha i had the sleeve when i was 58 - as "they" say, best decision i've ever made for myself there are many of "us" that are "over 21", yet under 100 that are sleeve survivors and proud of it most everyone on the board say they wish they had the WLS years ago - but the past is the past - being sleeved now is great too having WLS - losing all that extra weight for health reasons (my diabetes meds/insulin, high blood pressure meds, CPAP are all gone) is wonderful no matter what your age good luck with your wise decision to have the WLS see you around the neighborhood
  25. ProudGrammy

Do you drink with your food?

melinda48 oh no, oh no - don't do it - never drink with any food people have been shot for less ok, ok - nobodies ever been shot (I don't think) - but............ one of the first most basic rules with the sleeve is never, never, ever drink while you are eating stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you eat wait up to an hour after you eat, before you drink the above drinking rules can be difficult to learn (they were for me)- but they must/need to be observed practice these Water rules before surgery (11/2) also drinking lots of liquids are mandatory - at least 64 oz take care good luck speedy recovery
