for those of you who live alone

Mastiff_mama being stubborn and independent will help you throughout your journey, keeping you strong i know you will be prepared with your shakes, liquids, Soups, Vitamins - all those necessary things IMO you should be fine taking care of you you will be in the same good hands as your adoreable Mastiffs!! that being said........always good to have a backup plan, just in case you do need some unexpected help don't be 'too" stubborn to ask for help-when/if needed - give mom a call gotta jump in here about the "age" thing!! dr saying you might need to stay in the hospital longer cuz you are 50, a"little" older??? 59 here - still able to "hear" every word the surgeon/NUT tells me!! you/me can accomplish anything the "younguns" can maybe better? because of our "extra" years, we are "wiser" during our life long journey with the sleeve! hmmmm, me sensitive about my age???? luv from a senior citizen good luck with WLS speedy safe recovery
  3. Carly great pictures of a great looking gal so happy that "you" are happy, feeling more confident et al it only gets better take care continued good luck

    Popcorn?

bethxxx a slider food good down your system very easily, too easy. you can eat too much of it without feeling full. it "slides" down - later you might feel the repercutions of eating too much. gpriske dr's give different responses regarding the eating of popcorn my dr told me i could have popcorn 8 weeks after WLS i don't go to the movies very often - when i do go, i will get a small popcorn - "usually" taking a long time to eat in the one hr and 45 minute movie i usually will have eaten all the popcorn - um um good check with your dr/NUT for his instructions

  10. i understand she wants to lose 20 lbs - but you can't blame yourself about her gaining she continues to do everything amazing, from eating to exercise - don't know what the problem is that she can't lose - she just has to continue with all the right stuff i agree seeing the doc might help - BUT if that weight doesn't come off......don't blame yourself your wife continues to be your big supporter just continue to be supportive to her, like she always was/is to you don't "not get excited" (terrible sentence)about your weight loss, and don't keep your success to yourself weight was always an issue with my mom my whole family was "normal" size - except me. mom ALWAYS "reminded" me that i needed to lose weight. as a teen-ager, instead of a b'day cake - i always would get a candle on a weight watchers cupcake through out all my years up and down with my weight, i finally have lost 103 lbs post WLS - with the "assistance" of the sleeve - but of course i know "I" did the hard work to lose the weight, i know i "will" be successful keeping my weight off i feel guilty about my daughters weight gain all the time while i was heavy - i "cried on my daughters shoulders" in other words just told her how upset i was about my weight.-it was a constant discussion about ME, not her weight which was fine so the cycle continued about weight being such an important subject since the birth of her 3 kids (12,9,4) she kept gaining to the present point - i know she want to lose the weight, but we all know hard it is - trust me i NEVER bring up her weight (she needs to lose about 75 lbs) i also blame myself for her weight gain, since weight, weight, weight was such a subject for me (and for her to listen to me) but............. now that i've lost 100 lbs, i don't think its right either to celebrate my victories with daughter not wanting to talk much about my weight loss with daughter i think i'm kindof the pot calling the kettle black i know i "should" embrace my success with my daughter, but its hard and i DO feel guilty, sad that at 38 she is now getting heavy when i was her age emotions, feelings - we all have them, and they can be hard to deal with congratulations Butterthebean on your weight loss, I can't fathom "seeing" 172 lbs gone!!! goal here you come!!!
  11. linda maybe i was exaggerating a little i said looking back at 59 years -but i really didn't get heavy til i was in high school so, i hear you were a little runt when you were a kid??? film at 11:00!! i also am terrified of gaining the weight back i lost about 75 lbs 8 years ago, it was amazing - i looked so hot i was working, and the fact that everyone knew and saw me - i couldn't, wouldn't ever gain the weight back well....fast forward 6 months - weight was back-so embarrassed i truly think this is different - it must be!!!! thats why were sleeved, to get the help we need not to regain our weight, EVER i have to keep a mindset that i'll be fine like i said earlier, keep myself on board with my eating/planning/MFP - keeping track of myself is important i get on the scale daily - i know that might not be proper, but it makes me accountable, and if i ever see weight go up - i will scream, but then get back to work harder the emotions are all there - but we will deal with them - mirror image and all
  12. traveling tomorrow to NJ for a big family reunion - besides my mom & daughter - no one has seen me since WLS!!!! excited and alittle scared to be seen

  14. i never kept any of my old/too small clothes - or even the "normal" ones i was wearing and they got to big in other words i never "saw" my transformation i finally saw a few differences, new clothes sizes, things improving - but i could never grasp the weight loss mentally went to the store the other day to try on a pair of the exact same 2X blue jeans, elastic band, same brand i put them on in the store and just stared at myself in disbelief i did that for about 10 minutes!!! then i took those jeans off, put my size 6 jeans on with the 2X over them i again kept staring at myself i bought the jeans and sat in the car for another few minutes i was so sad!!! Reason???? i just kept looking/staring at myself say "OMG" is that really me in those gigantic pants???? i filled out "ALLLL" that empty space i was very upset, still am alittle just thinking and talking about it i don't think i'll ever forget this incident - i was looking back at 59 years of my life - pretty sad!!! but................ i know, i know - out with the old, in with the new i am so very happy now - healthy now - no more diabetes meds/insulin - high blood pressure - CPAP self confidence through the roof life IS good proud to be a veteran - looking forward to continueing a new good life!!! only the best for all of us!!!

    I really need help/orientation

paulalevia i'm glad you are realizing that you need to think this over very carefully before you jump into surgery like everyone says, you must do this for you, yourself and YOU post op, eating smaller portions is for the rest of your life - a very difficult decision, but i know you can conclude what is right for YOU - no one else you have another week to think VERY carefully about your decision-its never too late to cancel don't let your parents sway you everyone (most everyone) agree that having WLS is the best thing in the world maybe at a later date you will opt to have surgery - but if you are not ready now. or ever, thats perfectly ok too... to be fair, don't let anyone of else sway your decision - the ball is in your court good luck bud
  18. ProudGrammy

    I really need help/orientation

hun, you sound very young - this is a hard decision for anyone any age to decide on major surgery for weight loss you are more than doubtful about the surgery (like many of us are/were) you hint all over the post that you really don't want the surgery - but you'll give in just to shut your parents up!!! if you have the sleeve - you'll be the one that needs to follow all the hard rules of the sleeve - from drinking 64+ ounces of Water, to all the other water rules for the rest of your life eating very small portions. i'm sure (i hope) you know totally whats involved with everything post surgery this is a forever new life that you need to adhere to many new rules you can loose the weight if you follow the rules - and work with your sleeve - the sleeve "assists" you, acting as tool in helping you to loose lots of weight. But you have to do a lot of hard work for the REST OF YOUR LIFE to keep the weight off for good it is not a quick fix - no way, no how you must want this for yourself - you can't do this "to give in to your parents"!!! your serious doubts - even admitting you don't want surgery - IMO it would be a mistake to have surgery just to please your parents All parents only want the best for their children - but you need to do this surgery for yourself, not your parents i'm so sorry your parents have been on your case all your life just because surgery is already scheduled for january 22nd, doesn't mean you can't change your mind and cancel sure you 'could" talk to someone about your concerns - maybe a friend or relative if you have the surgery it must be because you want it!!! you yourself, no one should push you IMO you need to stand up to your parents (it will be hard) but having an invasive surgery???i if you don't want it now????don't do it good luck
  19. Yasmine sorry you have been dealing with a lot these days Good for you that you are realizing your importance!! You are strong, good for you for standing tall, and realizing your importance putting yourself first - working on yourself - getting healthier, happier, proud, becoming self-confident , all these new happenings will touch everyone around you "they" will be thrilled for you you feeling better about yourself will make everyone happy congrats on your continueing weight loss good luck

  21. LovinMe2013 many sleevers have problems such as gallbladder, hernia - other issues pre-WLS many problems are taken care of during or shortly after surgery "some" people might have issues/problems from the surgery itself - post op too - but they are far and few between Dehydration happens sometimes if you don't get all your Water in - but theres an easy fix to resolve that problem to be successful with the sleeve - yes you do have to take all your vitamins, and follow ALL the rules your NUT gives you the sleeve will work for you if you work with the sleeve - goes hand in hand "Want to remain healthy"?? are you kidding me girlfriend???? thats why we're all here silly!!!! losing the weight, you will get so healthy, being slender too, not a bad side effect after 20 years, i am off all diabetes/insulin/meds - no more high blood pressure or CPAP - and knees are doing great you are a young chic of 31 - looking into my chrystal ball - i see many, many, many wonderful healthy, happy years in your future not sure if you are pre-op or post op??? take care good luck

  23. LovinMe1213 hi i don't think there are any 5 year sleevers yet i know some 2+ years have posted here if you are having doubts about WLS - IMO the sleeve is the greatest. Nerves are totally understandable - many many people get scared, emotional pre-WLS - its great You made the wise decision to chose WLS - don't second guess yourself (if possible) i understand being inquisitive about long term sleever, results, etc. don't think there are any stats on those long term people yet i'm sure i'll be a survivor 5+ years out + many, many more years 13 months post-op, down 103 lbs - GOAL good luck
  24. can't fool VSG - yesterday was my b'day, and they automatically put my new age up 59!!!! OMG LOL
