    Worried about insurance approval....

hi lady you waited 3 years - but you finally made the wise decision to go ahead with WLS - good for you i have the Empire Plan from my job working for the state these past 20 years (early disability retirement) united health care pays dr.s and BCBS pays hospital - I "think" thats what your DH has followed, did/had all the requirements - co-morbities, BMI et al did what ins wanted/required - going to different doctors for approval didn't take "too" long to get the go ahead i used the dr. on the "provider" list - all went great - didn't pay a dime!!!!! i am 59 (13 months post surgery) thinking 47 years old might be a little "older" than many???? you are a spring chicken dudette !!!! we're all getting older (problem i deal with sometimes ) as the weight comes off you will start to feel healthier, happier and YOUNGER WooHoo good wishes for insurance approval good luck on pending surgery speedy recovery
  2. jason317 yep, you "men" have it easier "sometimes/usually!!!" getting rid of the devil weight might/will/should come off quicker in the beginning, for a while, but then it might slow down a bit , but be steady (maybe a stall here or there ) but thats ok, really - its part of the new sleeve life that we all must deal with its true, we all lose weight at a different rate/speed - but it will happen!!!! god grant me patience, just hurry up about it !!!!! never compare your weight loss, time period et al with any other sleever - on board - we're all different the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different you will feel so much healthier and happier while you are losing weight glad you are enjoying the board - the more the merrier sounds like you are pre WLS right??? good luck with surgery speedy recovery

  4. MsBriteEyez i'm sorry you will be alone through surgery and recovery the one commen comment about WLS - is we're all different - this is true for your weight loss, how it progresses, stuff like that your NUT/surgeon might be different than another one, and your recovery time table situation will be different some people have no problems (like me) they fly through surgery and recovery without batting an eyelash (MsBriteEyez ) - think positively - this could be you !!!!!! everyone goes through there own way of recuperation/recovery there are people that have problems - gas, vomitting stuff that i'm sure you have read about then there are MANY others like me - that had a terrific recovery, or with maybe a small problem here or there you can do this alone, i have seen others in your predicament, and they were fine hopefully some OP will come here and respond positively i wish you the best on your recovery come here ALL the time - read, pass the day, tell about your situation, any problems, and we're here for you good WLS speedy recovery longer, healthier, happier life - here you come

    Any Regrets? I Do ..

Dawny sorry you are still having problems down 85 lbs in 3 months, thats great, but i understand you don't like the vomitting issues et all that go along with your great weight loss you look like a smart cookie i'm sure you've discussed with your doctor the vomitting, nothing tastes good or digests well ? he is the one that must/will help you feel better sooner than later we'll be back to check on you (thats a promise, but also its a threat ) good luck
  8. 100%Sleeved what a well written update hearing good words, comments you've made are great for NEWBIEs- (everyone else too) explaining that stalls DO happen to all, but you/they will leave (the stalls)and continue to lose weight as you inferred - your continueing your longer, healthier life ' "Walking in Victory" how wonderful is that!!!! and, yes - you look beautiful!!!! hope you come to the board more often with your insight take care coninued good luck and happiness

    Just received a verbal beating...

Hoosier sorry your mom went off like that - i've heard other people have similar reactions (not that that helps you ) since you didn't say otherwise, hope hubby is supportive like all moms, she is only thinking of you, and wants to make sure your safe, and you realize what you will be doing post WLS -you know you will be fine, and you do have a lot of hard work in front of you for the rest of your life things can get hard, the sleeve is around to "help" you, but you have do work with the sleeve -follow the rules et all for the rest of your life its not a piece of cake , but i have confidence in you - sleeve is great but your life will be healthier and happier, you can remind mom of that!!! As far as willpower, i used to call it "won't" power, as i won't eat this or that. (these attempts/thoughts didn't work long) would lose 50 lbs - only to gain 60, etc etc. Probably similar to you (and the majority of the board ) "try" not to let harsh words get to you (easier said than done ) you'll need all your strength after WLS to proceed with the rest of your longer wonderful life good luck in Tiajuna speedy recovery
  12. MsFab yada yada - you lost a little weight, look sexy as hell?? so is this a big deal??? You betcha (gotcha) Lookin great continued good luck

Diabetes for more than 5 years

Jeremy i was diagnosed with diabetes 20 years preWLS - few years ago had to add insulin with my meds my surgeon "warned" me that the longer you have had diabetes, its possible that you WON"T improve but.......20 years since diabetes diangosis........... shortly after WLS- post op NO more diabetes!!! (remission) "most" people do lose or improve their diabetes situation - at only 5 years, "probably" you will lose your diabetes (fingers crossed) i agree that the health issue of diabetes is one of the main health issues that push people towards having WLS (it was for me) your "doubts" are normal - but..............having this WLS will be the best thing you have every done for yourself, except for a few people, most will agree how wonderful the sleeve is don't second guess your wise decision to have the WLS - you are a smart looking person you will lose the weight, become much healthier and happier too!! good luck speedy recover
  16. need to/will get back to exercise - "over" walked yesterday going here there and everywhere

  17. congrats on your wonderful weight loss - yippee!!!!

    Am I Over Eating?!

Calorically I'm only taking in 700-1000/daily. Is that alot for being so newly out? MsLissa DOS - 12/17/12 6 weeks PO 700-1000 calories a day???? yes hun thats too many I "think" I was eating 500-600 calories this early in the game talk to the dr. office - 24/7 services - write down a bunch of questions - you should get more assistance others hopefully will tell you how many calories they took in eat and chew very slowly, put utensils down after a bite - slow down and your brain should catch up it might take a while, but you'll get this!!! ask your questions remember we don't bite (not usually )
  19. JerseyGirl we must have posted at the same time!! GMTA!!

    Am I Over Eating?!

MsLissa it must be hard not having a NUT or more constant one on one guidance all NUTS/directions received are different from NUT to NUT at 6 weeks - I "think" I was eating about 1/3 C per my NUT - I was told to measure by "volume" - that is the amount that fills your stomach 2 ounces ie might be more than 1/3 C - per my instructions measure by volume at 6 weeks i wasn't drinking the Protein shakes anymore - not to confuse you - but some people DO drink protein shakes to help get their required protein in but - you DON'T have to drink protein shakes for the rest of your life you should always measure your food - "don't guesstimate" especially since you are still a NEWBIE when you measure your portion, thats all you should eat - chew very thoroughly and slowly. only put the proper amount on your plate - not extra - use small plate so you "fool" yourself into thinking you are eating more just because you are "able" to eat more - DON'T do it - never eat more than you are permitted as time goes on, you will be eating larger "small" portions - ie 2/3 cup - 1 cup - you should ask your dr.s office for this advice you also should get the proper calorie intake as time progresses - ie 600 calories maybe - 1000 calories at a much later time (just example amounts) finding a support group is a good idea - OP can guide you since you don't have a NUT - do you know the drinking rules? don't eat for 1/2 hr after you stop drinking, don't drink during meal, don't drink for 45-60 minutes after meal. drink at least 64 oz per day. (you might already know this) Water rules are very important good luck ask for help anytime we don't bite (not usually)
  24. hey bud congrats on your accomplishments - good for you!!! 70 lbs gone since highest weight WooHoo!! migraines, menstrul cramps, cold, bronchitis???? girl, you've been through the wringer!! glad you are on the mend like lovetennis said - at this point you "might" lose a bit slower. losing 10 lbs a month is GREAT throwing that scale away for a month - good luck on that!!hard to do, but go for it!!!, couldn't hurt!!!! frustrated???? vent away - we're good sounding/listening boards!! take care bud you are on the right path, going "downhill'

for those of you who live alone

Mastiff_mama i know you will be prepared with your shakes, liquids, Soups, Vitamins - all those necessary things IMO you should be fine taking care of you you will be in the same good hands as your adoreable Mastiffs!! that being said........always good to have a backup plan, just in case you do need some unexpected help don't be 'too" stubborn to ask for help-when/if needed - give mom a call gotta jump in here about the "age" thing!! dr saying you might need to stay in the hospital longer cuz you are 50, a"little" older??? 59 here - still able to "hear" every word the surgeon/NUT tells me!! you/me can accomplish anything the "younguns" can maybe better? because of our "extra" years, we are "wiser" during our life long journey with the sleeve! hmmmm, me sensitive about my age???? luv from a senior citizen good luck with WLS speedy safe recovery oops- in error i repeated my post from above
