Craved foods post op...
ProudGrammy replied to LindsayRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LindsayRN i actually took my "mental" cravings - wrote them down on an index card, and put them in a recipe box (pizza, chips, cookies et al) when i wanted to eat this "bad" stuff - i would take out the ol' recipe box - look at the item/card for awhile, basically talking myself out of eating "always" worked - "USUALLY" i have confidence in you 32 lbs and counting WooHoo good luck -

KabinKitty 2 years being sleeved!!!! "we" love to hear from you "more experienced" people i agree with the dr. you are not a "big" loser - you are a big winner!!!! true how people treat you differently after you've lost weight opening doors, starting conversations, smiling more - sad you/we have to wait for weight loss for people to be nicer oh well take care -
Does more restriction on liquids occur further out?
ProudGrammy replied to mikeross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mikeross hey dude, whats your hurry???? do you have to catch a bus your tummy isn't going anywhere - slow down, this is not a race!!!! first one to down that Protein shake is not the winner! take a breath, slow down - gotta be nice to your new tummy - its just a baby - take care of it, pamper it talk to it!!! you just had major surgery!!!! even though you can do something (gulp, eat) - doesn't mean you should i was told not to gulp drinks down for quite awhile (couple of months?) wonderful, wonderful that you have no prob with getting your Protein shakes in/all your liquids too "many' of us have trouble drinking protein shakes do to the taste (blah! ) glad you like the shakes you will start to feel your restriction once you eat solids "any food I have tried post-op has gone down and stayed down without any issue." mike, at 2 weeks what are you eating??? people usually have a clear liquid stage, full liquid, pureed', soft food, THEN solids???t= this period usually lasts a few weeks-but many NUTS have different guidelines Amazons post above sums everything up really well call your co-ordinator/surgeon for assistance many sleevers find support groups, other people can give tips, help - be there for each other you could check with local hospital (even though you weren't sleeved there)i'm sure they would help you read the board for help, tips et al come back with all your questions we don't bite (usually ) take care good luck guy -

Upset by inital insurance company response
ProudGrammy replied to Phoenix79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Phoenix79 hi there sounds like everything has been resolved - you'll probably feel better after you get clarification/confirmation on Monday from insurance company think insurance companies are on this "planet" to see how miserable they can make us, giving us as difficult of a time as possible I'm sure Fiddleman (what a great guy ), will take care/help you as you start your journey through sleeveland then, you can be there for each other love it when family - DH and DW work together through their new life with the sleeve, supporting each other good luck with approval, getting your DOS - and all the success you will have today, tomorrow and always!! take care -
How likely is it to gain weight after?
ProudGrammy replied to Harpo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jason317 WLS 2/26 good luck i'm sure you will follow all the "rules" that go along with the sleeve concerning moderation, drinking, et al. follow these rules until you reach your wonderful goal after goal is the concern-gaining weight back If you choose the "behavior" you choose the "consequences" Dr. Phil (love him ) IMO - as long as you continue with all your good choices, new lifestyle - your "consequences" - will be a continued wonderful, healthy, weight, lifestyle your consequences will be different only "if" you choose not to follow the rules (could be easier said than done) but this is what we're all striving for, continueing our way of life that we started the DOS no one wants to have gone through this major life saving surgery - only to repeat their/my past mistakes now, concentrate on being successful on your path with the sleeve, today, tomorrow and always only worry about tomorrow if today is failing (not sure if that makes sense ) oh well good luck -
vogue Ahhhhhh onederland - what a wonderful place to live in blue skies, big trees, beautiful flowers, birds chirping, children laughing - ahhh yes - onederland is terrific congrats on your great weight loss your NSV - for ME - is getting rid of the "devil/scale" for one month - kudos!!! keep up the great job 72.3 lbs gone WooHoo

newbie but 6 mos post op
ProudGrammy replied to shandytx83's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
shandytx83 welcome its always nice to get new blood in the neignborhood 83 lbs lost - WooHoo telling/seeing you have lost weight,, old clothes don't fit anymore??? getting rid of your "big" clothes - buying new smaller sized clothes is quite a committment thats a great NSV (non scale victory as we fondly call it!!) kindof like "out" with the old - "in" with the new!! many people buy clothes in their transition period at goodwill - then you are not spending lots of money on clothes you won't be wearing long you being 5' you probably want to lose another 40 lbs??? you can't wake up dailty being afraid that you are going to "mess" up eat something wrong - gain the weight back you are 6 months post op losing 83 lbs - still wanting to lose weight - don't think about gaining, don't worry about the future concentrate on "today", continue your great work try and drink more Water, that is important you said - "trying really hard its not easy every day its a new start" every day is NOT easy - you are right there are days that are more challenging than others corny, but if one day you slip, pick yourself up and start again do your "best" thats all you can do i can see you are working really hard putting one foot in front of another you are awesome!!!!! take care nice to meet you keep up the good work congrats on your success -
My 1 year Surgerversary!
ProudGrammy replied to 101driver's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
101driver what a great well thought out and written post!!!! thanx for sharing all newbies will love the info, advice and success and us "oldbies" also enjoy readiing your terrific story you look lovely in both pictures so deservedly proud in your after picture beaming ear to ear continued good luck happy surgiversary -
good golly Ms Molly so many questions, so little time I'll try and give brief explanations - i'm sure others will jump in with more info - and correct me if i said something incorrect, or not clear since you are on the sleeve board - people (me too) will be biased against the band - so many problems - erosion, slippage there is a site here for people that have gone from band to sleeve. in other words ALLLL those people had mannny manny problems with the band - so they made the wise decision to convert to the sleeve this site would not be necessary if the band was great with the band - I "think" you have some "foreign object" in your body, and you are required to have "fills" which can be problematic when you have the sleeve - 85% of your tummy is gone i don't feel any weirder than i used to before i had the sleeve - you won't feel a difference!!! you (I) do/will get pains in your tummy if/when you eat too much - so don't eat too much!!! the sleeve will tell your tummy when you are full, and will not let you eat more my surgeon told me to "eat until i was full" - then "stop 2 bites earlier!! your NUT will guide you - tell you your proper small portion over the course of time - when i started ie - i was told to eat 1/3 C no more, amount (portions) gradually increase many people have "sliming" vomitting, gas " they can explain that situation better than i can i NEVER had any of those problems !!!!! the only "major" problem i had (this is common though) i was dehydrated once having to go to hospital getting IV fluids My surgeon & NUT told me you can not stretch your sleeve after surgery, i was not hungry - for a while i had to "remind, push" myself to eat - my appetite was curbed buttttt, in all honesty some people go through different experience - and might be hungry they will need to explain that "for me" after about 5-6 months - i did start to get my hunger/appetite back "to a point" never starving!!!! eating correct small portions to fill my/your small new tummy -tummy and i are happy campers good luck with your wise decision to get the sleeve continue to research, read, ask questions here - look on utube take care

Lost my padunkadunk?
ProudGrammy replied to NDN_RN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NDN_RN my butt is gone, gone, and gone unfortunately lots of skin hanging "down under" way i figure it - i'd rather be "buttless" and healthy and happy my DH agrees - and in time i'm sure your DH would rather you be healthy too buttttt then again.........lol good luck with that -
Do you remember Patrick?
ProudGrammy replied to O.T.R. sleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
"peaked" at his profile, last time he was on board was 12/18/12 about 6 weeks ago but maybe O.T.R. you already knew that? i also hope everything is going well, would be nice to know exactly how things are going he's a nice guy with a long road ahead of him, but he was/is doing great i'm sure hopefully his success is continueing -
bonita19 welcome girlfirend excited, nervous - emotions most have felt - been there, done that glad you are aware that it won't all be "peaches and cream" all the time you are prepared to start your new lifestyle- congrats you do need to "work" with your sleeve for the rest of your longer, heathier, happier life the sleeve is there to help you lose the weight - but you must work with it too anything worth having "is worth working for"?? something like that be ready for "some possible lows but mainly HIGHS!!!! follow all the many rules that the sleeve requires- drinking, proper portions - et al - you'll do great read the board - some of your questions might be answered - and by all means you ask ALL your questions too we'll see "less and less" of you as time passes good luck 2/12 speedy recovery
-
Heather welcome newbie not sure i understand - did you have a problem during surgery - immediately after??? if you did, please tell us about it if you didn't - that is great recovery is/can be hard to deal with - feeling in the dumps? hurting - feeling some remorse "what have i done"?? " I am worried something can still go wrong or what if they find out something about this surgery later??? " easier said than done - but you can't/shouldn't worry about what "MIGHT" happen - don't dwell on maybe's" As Jersey said "you just had major surgery" its hard to feel "normal" right away all of us heal/recovery differently - some are better in a few days, no problems, back to work 1 week after surgery, it is "normal" not to feel well, sore " hopefully sooner than later - you WILL feel better you must give your body time to heal - your tummy was invaded - 85% of your tummy is now gone!!! "it" might be saying "OMG what have you done to me"???!! try not to 2nd guess your wise decision to have the sleeve speaking for most/all of us sleevers, - we all yo yo'd, up and down like you - lost the weight only to regain with the "help/assistance" of the sleeve - you are on your way to a healthier happier life take care feel better
