Selfish and Mad!
ProudGrammy replied to ChristenOnAmission's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Selfish and Mad! are you kidding me??? i'm sure you do have a great hubby - BUT IMO he's the one being selfish "sounds"??? like he might be all nice and trim, going to the gym everyday??? thats wonderful - everyone should be trim and healthy how great that he has soooo much time off from work monthly he should/is right there to help you with your re-cuperation post WLS he can take care of the kids i'm sure his shoulder hurts, and having surgery, followed by PT - is no walk in the park but you two can work this surgery situation out friends/parents - hopefully someone can help out with the family/chores/kids et al post surgery get a pot holder - and take yourself off the back burner you deserve to be in the FRONT good luck having WLS sooner than later take care -
OMG a whole donut (boston creme????) tell me its not so???? people have been shot for less in "excitement" (and i don't blame you) of eating the donut - you might have eaten it too fast so you didn't have time to feel that restriction if you must have a donut - have a plain one i've done that before now, back to "your normal" self, you are eating properly, slowly - then realize you can only eat "X" amount work hard/concentrate on only eating very slowly, then you should feel your restriction again at 7 1/2 months PO - maybe not as much restriction though?? but, if you only put the proper "X" amount on your plate - then you won't realize you can eat more no profile - ticker??? come on, show us your stuff!!! starting weight, present weight et al inquiring minds want to know and ProudGrammy is nosey

Bree Lynn hi newbie welllll............. I know that "you" know you shouldn't have had that itsy bitsy bite 4 days po like Deano said "shake it off" - or as i like to say, GET OVER IT what is done is done!!!!! but...........don't do it again ok???? at your early stage you should be drinking only - i can tell you learned from your mistake so, you will "probably" live next time you get that urge for lasagna - send it my way naw - only kidding - i've "chosen" not to have any Pasta since WLS good luck

Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
ProudGrammy replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Houston17 Hi Tex i also was fortunate that my WLS was completely covered but - i would have thought about "it" WLS longer and harder due to the considerable cost wouldn't be second guessing the surgery itself - just the financial responsiblity if you get over your fear of Mexico i "think" people pay prices from $7,000 - $12,000??? obviously much cheaper that US My answer to your question - would i have proceeded with surgery if i had to pay for it???? Yes -
Feel guilty and worried.
ProudGrammy replied to KatieOkieDokie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Katie i understand you feeling guilty about "messing" up - eating out this weekend you were probably subconsciously eating stuff you were afraid you "would/could never" eat again. IF you did gain - i doubt there will be any problems from the doc/NUT - maybe you can talk about your week-end - get advice about your eating this is like a food funeral which i/many others went through you WILL be able to enjoy going out to restaurants??? at a later date post op - you can go out to eat - making wise decisions, eating small amounts - (benefit - you have 2 meals leftovers for later in the week ) you have done amazing loosing 60 lbs these past 4 months you did prove how successful you can be we all fall off the horse sometimes (no ones perfect - hmmm except me of course ) Compliant "(as The Gamer said) - you have proved yourself now go with it - keep doing well this next month sounds like you can loose alittle more weight pre WLS - thats great the more you loose now the better you will do great with the sleeve good luck next month speedy recovery -
6 months post-op before/after pictures!
ProudGrammy replied to jbgirl5856's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
JBwmuot13 i could have been the author of your post yours/mine/others - our pre WLS feelings are very sad but - luckily life continues, improves with our health and happiness no longer are we "that" person in the crowd!!! you look beautiful may you live every day - as happy as you are this moment congrats -
Had my first sneeze
ProudGrammy replied to Susie1226's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Susie1226 that sneeze must be awkward/hurt so soon after WLS as you heal - hopefully sooner than later - you will still sneeze - but your tummy won't be sore, so you won't hurt i never "got" it about people sneezing as a result of being full when i'm getting to that full feeling i start hiccupping/burping DH and i had a big "discussion" about my "noises" "what is that noise - is it a hiccup or burp" ??? one of our more in depth conversations!!!!! -
wow just found this old pic
ProudGrammy replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ShrinkyDinkMe22 hi there!!!! seeing less and less of you as you lose more and more weight you've done great nice picture, but......... i think i sprained my neck bending over sideways to look at your picture it was worth it, seeing your lovely face but.......... you'll be hearing from my lawyer -

ProudGrammy replied to brandy88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

SURGERY MARCH 19TH...BUT THE NURSE SAID I HAVENT GOTTEN A RESPONSE ..NOT YET APPROVED...
ProudGrammy replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
dat_sweetmami your dr office "probably" works with that insurance, and thats why they are "pretty" sure there is no problem with being accepted that being said..........if you haven't called insurance co yet - i would!!!!! i understand you haven't received written confirmation, but you could call them and explain your situation about having surgery scheduled - and if they could help you out by telling you about your hopeful confirmation. i understand you don't want to go "blindly" into WLS, not knowing if you are covered going back to what the nurse said - hopefully there will be no issue, and you will receive written confirmation sooner than later if you feel you must/want to wait for "official" approval - cancel couple days before WLS - you will reschedule ASAP when you hear good news good luck hopefully DOS 3/19/13 speedy recovery -
Second Time's a Charm!
ProudGrammy replied to RAAinNH's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
RAAinNH I've always "admired" the people on the board that went from a failed lapband situation (erosion, slippage, not loosing weight) going forward and having another surgery - kudos to you all having surgery once can be hard enough - going through it twice IMO shows how serious you are regarding successful weight loss congrats/kudos to all you "2nd timers"!! I agree with the other "old farts" (i was sleeved at 57) that age shouldn't/doesn't have anything to do with weight loss so you can "eat" those words you might loose weight slower than that "youngun", or the same as - or beat her!!! but as you know - we are NOT involved in a race - we're taking one day at a time for the rest of our healthier, happier, longer life You are right, "slow and steady will get me there!!!" this is no race - as long as we get to that "finish line" we're doing great!!!!! "we" always say "never, ever" compare yourself to any other sleever (time period to lose X amount i.e.) the only thing we have in common, is that we're all different you will be so happy when your health problems improve, or are gone forever I know you will do great post surgery hope you get scheduled for WLS ASAP Just cleaned off a spot on the "losers' bench" for you to sit on - next to me of course good luck bud see you in the neighborhood -
I'm so happy - is the other shoe gonna drop?? No - i'm excited and enjoying life - WooHoo

saw many commercials regarding WLS - naw, surgery, why would i do that. sure i'm HEAVY, but surgery?? am i really that overweight and desparate?? - admitted to myself after a while, that yes i was that........ one day i literally "woke up" saying "enough is enough" saw PCP - who agreed i would be a great candidate for WLS went to seminar regarding WLS. ignorance is bliss? admittedly, didn't do much research, wanted lapband. after seminar doc explained the gastric bypass - didn't know about about the malabsorption problems "possible" problems with erosion, slippage - all the fills - everything relating to the lapband doc also told me he was choosing not to do them as often??? hmmmm, sounds like a problem there right??? finally thoroghly explained the sleeve (his surgery of chose), details et al i was in LOVE rest is history sleeved 15 months, 103 lbs gone - goal - what else can i say promoting my new best friend??? now - i'm another smiling face in the crowd amongst all other happy sleevers to laura ven - everyone else look away i'm just as long winded as you!!!! why do you think we're friends??

Question about dress sizes from a newbie
ProudGrammy replied to jgarnick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jgarnick its a guessing game to be on the conservative side - you will "probably/maybe" lose anywhere from 35-45 lbs - maybe more people often loose a bunch of weight at the very beginning then it does slow down a bit however much you loose..... you will look terrific - belle of the ball enjoy "strutting" your stuff at the wedding good luck with WLS speedy recovery -
Julie Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful 65 lbs - gone, gone, gone - forever and ever - down the toilet!!! Flush!!! how great is that!!! this is the only place where "loosing" makes you a winner keep up the great work congrats
-
SummerMarie 5 months - down 80 lbs?? thats terrific since you haven't posted your ticker, or profile (hint, hint) i don't know where your weight # stands how much more you have to loose??? i can see that you are working hard, trying to change things up also to try and solve your problem not loosing, going up and then down again a lb or 2???? what a bummer easier said than done but..........you gotta be patient don't get discouraged - sometimes people then might go back to old bad habits don't let that happen to you!!!! don't watch the scale have you taken your measurements - do your clothes maybe feel a little bigger???? i'm sure things will work out good luck "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up about It!!!"

Sleeping position
ProudGrammy replied to jennaleigh1992's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jennaleigh i "used" the bed the first night home didn't sleep much i sleep on my right side, of course the side of my incision when i "tried" to turn to the other side, since i was so "big" the incision kindof "wrapped" around and still hurt. i was very uncomfortable - but the next two nights got better weeks end - i was sleeping like a baby hope you get adjusted to sleeping better soon sweet dreams 'night speedy recovery -
SassySenior -"There are plenty of answers to your question ... just look!" drea0324 "maybe" she was having a bad day didn't mean to say anything disrespectful, remember we can't "see" through the computer to know how someone is really speaking I think Sassy Senior hadn't had her bran/fiber yet - I don't "think" she meant to be rude At 59, I "might" be classified as a senior citizen so its ok for me to say that i try and eat my bran too daily while i'm sitting on the front porch in my rocking chair back to question......... my doc didn't put me on a pre-op diet i kindof wish he (doc) had because i kindof went overboard with eating a few things prior to WLS - thinking i would never eat real food again of course i could have put myself on liquids et al for a few days prior to surgery i chose not too it is a bonus to loose some weight prior to surgery - then you get a jump start on your weight loss drea0325 please, please don't leave us give us another chance i can see what a smart NEWBIE you are - and your smiling face will be a great addition to our family we are here to answer all questions from any/all sleevers good luck with WLS speedy recovery
