  1. gettinsleeved do you mind if i ask why you aren't going through insurance??? do you just want to avoid the hoops of insurance, and have the WLS sooner than later???? just curious

    Better or worse than expected?

Sooner girl36 i really didn't know what to expect. ignorance is bliss???? as others, i've also had other surgeries i realized as WLS was approaching - i wasn't worried at all about the surgery itself i was more concerned about the fact of feeling hungry, able to follow all the "rules" stuff like that so i would be a "successful" sleever i have done well with food, slip up on an occassion, we're all human - but usually do great and wear a smile on my face i had a perfect recovery - no gas, vomitting et al tired, a little weak - but no pain meds once home - felt good - happy to be starting my new life Prepare for surgery, make sure you've read alot, buy all your necessary foods/drinks wishing you all the success you deserve

    Yesterday I Ate My Feelings

delta_girl congrats on losing almost 70 pounds!!! i have no doubt you will reach your goal!!! No doubt at all!!! I agree your refreshing honesty is a breath of fresh air, you coming out of the closet with your "admissions" - food for thought Slip ups happen to all (ok, maybe not everyone, but i think goofs do happen to most!) Confession IS good for the sole!!! I'm not perfect (well actually I am ) seriously now - i definitely have my moments!!!!! last night i was watching tv - and just HAD to eat "something"- I wasn't hungry - just the old habit of wanting to put some food in my mouth while watching tv - old habits do die hard you/me/all of us - understandably can be mad at ourselves after we've eaten too much of something, or something we shouldn't have eaten all get mad for a minute - this might help as you "might" not do it again - but again, we are only human!!!! now after we feel sorry for ourselves, we must get over it - snap out it!! i know this is easier said than done, but we can't dwell on whats happened, its done, over, past tense doesn't help to keep being upset - learn from it, and go forward the future is the only thing we have control of - the past is over - we gotta trudge forward. you said you are "reflecting" - thats great of course VSG doesn't fix the brain - wish it would!!! i do wish we had that magic pill (non-caloric of course!!!) we are a "work in progress" as you said. I think you/me/all of us with hard work, continuous proper eating, drinking et al We ALL can be successful!!! if not us, who else deserves happiness???? continued good luck to ALL of US!!!!

    Selfish or not?

princesx01 losing weight to become pregnant is a common reason on the board to have WLS once losing the weight, it is easier to get pregnant btw fyi - many docs want you to wait a couple of years before you get pregnant - for health reasons they say its better to wait (all docs are different) for me - it was just easier to become a grammy anyways, as mentioned above - i'm sure having a baby isn't the ONLY reason you want surgery, right??? you want to get healthy and live longer for that bundle of joy "selfish" primary reason for WLS is pregnancy ???- guess its ok - but be thrilled with the other benefits if you do have WLS- keep working the sleeve with your proper eating, drinking et al for the rest of your life you want to be able to run after he/she while they are a toddler, or when he/she is a teen-ager - and you "need" to run after them before they "go out to play"!!! you'll love becoming a loser - cuz then you are a true winner good luck!!!!
  6. gingerRN people go on and on saying nothing new or special you look good, you look great, OMG, WooHoo.... boring  !! well bud - get used to it cuz you look all those and more (gotcha) great pictures kudos keep up the great work
  7. dat_sweetmami its common/frequent that people are scared/"concerned" about having surgery you hear about bad outcomes, complications - and even a death these sad stories understandably stick out in your brain but...........the amount of people having problems is few 1% or so - there is a section you can read about all those problems sure there are "normal" problems post WLS gas, vomitting - but these problems will pass, and hopefully you'll be back to normal sooner than later but there is no section/thread captioned "i am so happy, i had great WLS - i am eating well, continueing to feel great et al" if this were a thread - there would be millions upon millions of responses start your new, happier, heathier, longer life ASAP don't second guess your wise initial decision to have WLS good luck speedy recovery

    Soooo excited

rmubvashrink WooHoo down 20 lbs, good for you NEWBIE WLS - like you said, it aint easy quite the opposite, many people just don't get it no quick fix here we all went through major surgery we must continue the good "work" of eating and drinking properly - but thats ok - its worth it for many (me) it does/did get easier as time passes at 15 months and goal - i know what and how much to eat, drink et al - don't deal with the hunger etc sometimes i admit, i might mess up a bit - but I'm only human i am one happy sleever/camper good job!!!! continued good luck through your journey to health, happiness and a longer life time to enjoy
  9. VSGKirk Its seriously sad when you have to give up nice expensive clothes cuz they don't fit anymore (of course its worth it that we've lost the weight!!! ) do you have any dresses that you used to wear in a size 4???? No??? what good are you??? btw - its nice of you to give away your clothes on line to people that can use them, if no takers thrift shop is always good - many many people go there during transition

HI IM NEW AND NEED HELP!

MRS.BYARS My answer is vague i'm afraid - everyone is different in the speed of getting approved if you have all the proper requirements - high enough BMI - co-morbities - you should be approved in other words the "worse" you are, the better!! i've heard people say it took them a few months, i've seen others that applied on a "Friday" and hear a positive response within the week as others have said - you will have a very very small new tummy following all the "rules" of drinking and eating little portions - not grazing (eating all day) you can't help but lose weight!!!! btw - your fears are common to others, so you are not alone good luck
  12. ProudGrammy

    I just farted.

I just farted. I know, i know !!!!! ahhhhh, its the little things feel better now????

  14. ProudGrammy

    five days late.

xlovexdangermagickz are you normally on a regular "rigid" schedule?? having any surgery, "messes" up your system 5 days is a little early to worry IMO give it a few days - hopefully your "system" will adjust/get back to normal soon congrats on WLS hope recovery is going well "otherwise"

    Worried about future wt loss

ipnurse2004 almost 3 months PO - down 39 lbs - kudos - glad you realize this is a great loss i "think" the fear of not losing much "more" after a bit, failing with the sleeve happens frequently to sleevers but.........you have a teeeny, teeeeny tummy - 85% is gone, down the toilet - FLUSH since you can only eat so much, you will lose !!!! the ONLY way you won't lose is if you graze, eat, snack all day long, eating high caloric foods i can see it in your cute little face that you won't do do a silly thing like that you went through a LOT, major surgery, I'm sure you will be compliant with all the rules - drinking, eating, proper portions et al do what your supposed to - we "all" have faith in you that you'll do great congrats on your success you'll continue to do great good luck
  16. VegasgalVS Ahhhhhh...... so that was you i saw peaking around the corner you can run but you can't hide welcome to the board newbies are always welcome with our arms open glad you are enjoying reading the posts - your contributions and questions are welcome good for you realizing your self worth, and doing this WLS gaining, (hmmm ) new found health and happiness for the rest of your longer life waiting for WLS - your excitement will help make time fly good luck speedy recovery
  17. tweeny congrats on your success great idea!!!!!! as everyone says, get your support, keep your records - whatever works for you i'm gonna "try" and get my DH to go with me. he needs to lose 75-100 lbs he's NEVER tried to lose weight!!!! who knows this might work - couldn't hurt I know, i know - he has to do this for himself - but a "little" push couldn't hurt - but if he refuses oh well he's 56 years young - but its never too late!!!! I am a "lifer" having lost my "excess" weight long, long ago - so i "believe" my meetings are free as long as i am goal
  18. ProudGrammy

How do i get my calories?

Wls4Me it "looks" like from the food you are eating/drinking you are on the soft stage???? maybe 6-7 weeks PO??? i am surprised at this early point saying you should 800 calories???, but all NUTS are different Add cottage cheese, another yogurt , cheese (babi bell is delicious) i'm sure you'll get other suggestions good luck btw - i guess thats why tickers are helpful, so ppl can see DOS, weight et al - just a comment/suggestion to all - (you know who you are )
  19. ProudGrammy

    Just starting

flyme_places ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh a true virgin welcome aboard it is exciting meeting with your surgeon for the 1rst time officially starting the process to a longer, healthier, happier new life with your sleeve. write a list of questions for the dr/NUT - keep ears open - write things down - it will go great reading from the board here, posting your questions, getting answers - listening to other peoples responses is terrific get info and add a ticker to your post showing your weight et al add your info to your profile its good for others to see where you are "at" DOS, starting weight et al good luck with your long wonderful journey in front of you
  20. AChristian congrats on all your success in the past continued good wishes for today, tomorrow, and always!!!!!!! keep up the good work!!!!

    Child free... Way off topic

apricot11119 as everyone else said, this is a very personal decision/choice decision can't be made one afternoon on VSG board!!!!! "years back" - as you "became an adult"??, things were "supposed" to happen high school, maybe college, fall in love, get married , couple of years later - THEN, baby makes 3 doesn't work that way anymore!!!!! you don't need to give birth to prove you are a women!!! people want their careers, enjoy life - marriage? significant other? or happiness within themselves - without partner - or with??? "rule book" should/has been thrown away!!!!! population explosion/unwanted kids if you are doubting yourself even a "smidgin" about having kids - my opinion - go with your first thoughts People will "get over it" - its not their business - and don't feel you have to explain yourself I "hear" you are a successful weight "loser" - i can tell you are 100% a winner!!!!! do whats best for you!!!! good luck btw - high school, married at 19 - beautiful daughter at 21 - divorced at 25 - remarried at 38 to a keeper for 21 years and counting - became a ProudGrammy at 47!!!!
  22. ProudGrammy

  23. NtvTxn always great to hear from you "ol timers" nice for "us" to hear that "good" life after being sleeved for one year, 2 years plus DOES/should happen obviously you still have to be diligent, but the sleeve will always work, as long as you work with it can't lose the weight, sit back on your laurels (msp) with your feet up happy you are at goal be happy...........but you MUST continue the proper drinking, eating, Protein et al all the good eating habits must stick around for the rest of your longer, healthier, happier life I'm a "newbie" at being a veteran!!!! 15 months post WLS 4 months since GOAL i'm just in the beginning, continueing stages of my maintennance - but i WILL do this - for the rest of my longer, healthier, happier life!!! "we" can all do this sleevers unite!!!! (corn)!!!! continued good luck to all of us and NtvTxn, thanx for the great post
  24. sexxy219 awwwwww.......... chin up hun you are doing fine congrats on your 3 month weight loss!!!! 71 lbs down so far is great, really!!!!! loosing 10 lbs in a month??? no prob here wish you had a ticker and a profile (hint, hint )so i could see how much more weight you need to lose if you don't have much more to lose you might slow down a bit with your loss - but thats ok kicking up the energy a bit, exercising more is always good - but i wouldn't kick up the lbs some people do that if they have been in a long stall - to "wake" up their system but your system might be "resting" a bit - don't startle it now!!! you'll reach your destination - promise!!! GOD grant me patience, just hurry up about it
  25. NDN_RN' slap them around!!!! tell them you are doing fine - you want to lose that little extra weight - you would mentally and physically feel better. tell them "this" all at once - ONE time after that - no more you shouldn't have to keep explaining yourself today, or EVER when you've lost whatever weight you want, or in the future (about anything)!!! they know your wish - they should respect you, and let it go!!! congrats on all your success keep up the good work for the rest of your longer, healthier, happier life time!!
