Any regrets at all?
ProudGrammy replied to Sooner girl36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soonergirl36 some people have minor/major complications during and or after surgery this is always sad to hear - and remarks about wishing they had not had the surgery are "understandable" that being said ...... The percentage of people that had serious complication with surgery is far and few between there are the possibilities of complications in any surgery there are people here that are upset in 3 days, saying how much they miss the food that they love they regret the surgery for that reason - they miss the food they had yesterday, and want tomorrow.??? i NEVER understand concerns about missing this food or that - in regards to wishing they had not had the surgery??? pre WLS most people are aware of the start of their new life - not eating any food for awhile, then Clear liquids et al for someone IMO to say they miss food virtually right after surgery is mind boggling (msp) I'm referring to those who miss food so much, and are mad/upset - and for that reason, they wish they never had WLS but, some of these people say this to vent (which is more than ok!!!) but there are others who say this and regret the WLS?? being 15 months PO - at goal - i consider myself one of the happiest people alive!!! no regrets in this corner of the world No regrets here - onlys hurts when i grin from ear to ear which is most of the time (doesn't really hurt then either!!! ) good luck next week with WLS speedy recovery -

-
pamiam824 you can walk/exercise - drink more - never hurts but........ stalls happen to all of "us" newbies - to veterans got to get used to the stalls - periodically they might/will happen a stall can last anywhere from a few days, to weeks - even a month, or more ) -hopefully not that extreme easier said than done but.......... you gotta "ride the wave" - the stall will break, i promise Would i lie to you??? no way!!!! "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It" good luck

ProudGrammy replied to gaye jarvis's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
gaye jarvis you are doing terrific you are in the elite century club - only us "special" members can join you look great in your pics - seeing "less" of you - how terrific is that???? keep up the great job/work congrats -
AmyRN09 woo hoo - you got your DOS big step, exact time period for you to look forward to your doc may put you on a pre-diet?? (my doc didn't) prior to surgery - you might experiment with dealing with some of the rules that go along with WLS drinking is the most important you must stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat you don't drink with any meals you don't drink after you eat for 45-60 minutes drink 64 oz liquid daily chew very slowly, put utensil down, wait a couple of minutes before you start to eat again eat smaller/moderate portions try to curb your eating between meals (called grazing) you are a couple of months pre-op, practicing any of the above is a good idea - preparing you for after surgery the above are things you must deal with for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer, life good luck

newmallika i don't know when you were sleeved or your weight loss??? didn't post a ticker or profile?? you joined the board on March 17th - if thats when you were sleeved you are 3 weeks along or maybe you joined a few months??? since you were sleeved???? thats why more information is always helpful if you are 3 weeks along - i find it "curious" that your doc said you could eat anything??? if you are a couple of months or so out and your doc said you could eat anything....its ok, but theres a common expression amongst sleevers "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" this expression applies to "all" of us - newbies, people working towards goal - and veterans too!!!! has your weight stalled for a few weeks and thats why you are concerned that you won't be loosing??? if thats the case - the story (my reply) is different everyone has stalls -weight doesn't go down for days, weeks, and yes - eventually you might be stalled for a couple of months never throw in the towel!!!!! weight will go down that being said - doc did tell you that all food is available in small portions but............... maybe use your judgement and decide not to eat certain foods - candy, Pasta, bread et al- full of carbs giving more information would be helpful - then someone else can guide you better good luck bud

Hubby is being totally unsupportive
ProudGrammy replied to labellaskorpio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
labellaskorpio this journey is hard enough without getting support from spouse or S/O you've "discussed" your concerns/asking him not to eat in front of you maybe in a little time he "might" become more considerate for now, i don't think i'd hold my breath its not gonna be easy, but you must get past seeing him or anyone eat in front of you you are very early post op - so its more understandable that seeing others eat is upsetting truth is kiddo - you are gonna have to get used to seeing others eat you'll be at work, or family occassions et al i know there are others here that are lacking support - I feel bad for you and "them" it would be nice, but we can't tell people not to eat in front of us not gonna happen!!! take care and good luck -
leslie101 didn't bring anything to hospital I wore hospital night gown - it was easier IMO the hook-ups IV - just made life easier wearing their gown i wore my sweats to the hospital i figured when i went home after surgery, having that elastic band would be good PO DH brought me clean socks and undies the next day  some/many people might bring their smart phones, ipod, book - stuff like that not for me - i figured i would be sleeping alot at the hospital, dozing in and out i walked like i was supposed to in the hospital - but other than that, didn't feel like doing anything except sleeping people say they brought chapstick - thats a good idea cuz your lips are very chapped and dry good luck with WLS speedy recovery

jessinoz4 welcome we have been expecting you just what we needed - another pretty smiling face to brighten up our board congrats on coming to the wise decision to be sleeved!!!!! 30 years young???? perfect time to be sleeved!!! you are "old" enough that you have gone through the common experience of yo yoing and young enough that you will enjoy a powerful new healthier, happier, longer life with the help of the sleeve the sleeve will work hard for you - "it" won't allow you to eat as much food and other things but...............you must work hard too many people come here wanting to lose weight to make it easier to conceive the journey you will be starting has ups and downs - but that is how our lives go i know you want to loose this weight you are tired of carrying those extra bags of luggage around (we all are/were there too) you will start to feel so much healthier and happier as you loose weight never compare your weight loss with newbies or anyone we all loose weight in different time periods, lose different amounts too the one thing we have in common is that we're all different I know you will do great!!!! good luck

should I go to weight watchers?
ProudGrammy replied to Iweeny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Iweeny joining WW - good for you for pending, newbies et al..... some people are afraid/curious what will happen a couple of years PO since you've been at goal??? will i keep the weight off??? sleeve 4 me is doing something great "nipping" it in the bud!!!!! (she doesn't have any big prob - just wants to continue to do well and not slip - get some more eating pointers) staying accountable! you/me/we might start to slack off a bit (unintentionally) after being at goal for a bit staying on top of things is what you must continue to do for the rest of your life but......that is ok - what a great life it will be - healthy, happy et al get whatever help/assistance during and after your WL after goal - you must continue working hard following all the rules that brought you to your success WW???some other support group???? great!!!! or........... come over to my house for a glass of Water and pleasant conversation!!! good luck to all of us -
Anyone that is having second thoughts about the surgery should read this.
ProudGrammy replied to Harpo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jason317 so glad you didn't "chicken" out!!!! and stuck to your guns and had WLS!!!! you might have 2nd guessed yourself??? but you made the wise decision, went with your gut, and you are now starting your new healthier, happier, longer life with the sleeve 50 lbs in 6 weeks???? OMG thats wonderful!!!!!! weight loss does come off pretty quickly at first, its great!!!! eventually the loss will come to a more "even" weight loss. not telling you above to "bum" you out, just to be realistic!! you will continue to loose terrifically i can see your determination i know you will be successful continued good luck vinie3999 are you still out there? for you and anyone else trying to choose between sleeve and gastric bypass???? this is the sleeve board, so most of us will all advocate for the sleeve but.......it really is the best WLS - i promise - would i lie to you??? gastric bypass, you will have intestinal issues, dumping, malabsorption - and just problems!!!! IMO the sleeve is the "ONLY" WLS yes, always do your research prior to pending surgery good book to read - Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies i know you will come to the wise decision to have the sleeve good luck -

GOT MY DATE (:
ProudGrammy replied to natedinsmoor2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nate congrats on getting word of your DOS this is a hard journey 15 years young - gonna be quite a challange lots of hard work, every day!!!! some adults here get upset about "not being able to eat certain foods anymore" miss food or want to eat more (this always amazes me - because "we" knew/should have known the new food situation we were going to be dealing with for the rest of our long life) getting your weight, high blood pressure et al in check at the age of 15 is magnificent!!!!! you have 65-70 years!!!! to enjoy your new sleeve lots of hard work, but i can see in your face - you are ready, willing and able i wish you the best of luck
