  20. 2 People getting surgeries which one would work VSG or RNY? Disclaimer -Warning, Warning!!!! long post gonna try and address your questions - here goes!!! this is the VSG board - MOST of us are here love our sleeves one common response you'll get from most is "the sleeve is the best thing they ever did for themselves - i just wish i had done it earlier" I'm raising my hand too the gastric bypass "messes" with your intestines, you do have dumping - I think the RNY does the same, not sure?? dumping is not a side effect with the sleeve (i have heard a couple of rare exceptions) glands, hernia - never applied to me, so don't know the answers - others here can probably help for me - and MANY others - some of the common comorbities are diabetes/ insulin, high blood pressure, CPAP, gerd everyone responds differently - safe to say that almost everybody has above issues improve i had gerd too, this did not prevent me from having WLS all of the above medical problems have disappeared for me many people "here" post problems concerning fertility becoming pregnant seems to be easier too PO - as you loose weight weight loss - which is faster, slower?? - VSG/bypass/RNY??? theories vary on that - everyone responds differently to WLS - how much weight they lose in X period all people lose weight differently, time periods - stalls in my case my weight went done steadily - i did have a couple of stalls, but thats normal i don't think there is a blank true statement saying that with gastric bypass you will lose weight much faster obviously in other words - its not to be "assumed" that you will lose weight slower with the sleeve!!! after surgery many people "lose:" their hunger feelings - its wonderful - many say they have to remind themselves to eat - this lack of hunger feeling eventually goes away but...........some people never loose that hunger feeling the "expression" is........ the one thing we have in common is that we're all different!!! nothing is magical - hunger, appetite won't go away for the rest of your life!!!! recovery time period is also different one person to another many, many, many have no problems with recovery - heal quickly - back to work in a few days but...........others take longer to heal, feel better i can't tell you that in example 3 and 1/2 days you'll be ready to go back to school feeling great i have heard of other people that do drive from Mexico for a few hours after WLS - don't know if thats the norm sorry to repeat - but we all are different!!!! everyone here will agree that having VSG is not a miracle cure you must eat and drink et all properly for the rest of your longer, healthier, life!!!! the sleeve is here to assist you you had 85% of your tummy cut out - so you can't eat as much as the good ol' days if you eat throughout the day (called grazing), high calories too - don't follow basic Water rules et al - at some point you will start gaining but like i said you must always follow the rules sounds like you don't know some of those "rules" water / drinking is one of the most important things you must always follow you need to drink at least 64 oz of H20 a day you must stop drinking 1/2 an hour before you eat NEVER drink while you are eating don't eat for 45-60 minutes after eating chew slowly, thoroughly to a mush!!!! eat veryyyy slowly, put utensil down between bites this can be/is the start of your new life!!!! its wonderful!!!!! loosing my excess weight, i have become so much more active, healthier, - and the happiest that i have ever been!!!! ok bud, i "talked" enough - hope some of this helped cuz my fingers are tired!!! take care good luck

    Manners Matter...

luckysmomma First off, today is Sunday - i feel with all the "amens" i'm at church most people here are supportive and are loving their WLS some people "express" themselves that they feel miserable about their new situation with the sleeve. Hungry, don't feel full - "only lost 41.5 lbs in 2 weeks stalled - stuff like that!!!! they usually/might post this kind of subject once, maybe twice over time on the board!!! "in the moment" they are sad, upset about their situation - they just want to vent even if their question might sound silly - crazy - even stupid to OP who have been sleeved for a while someone a few months PO, even a vet - can be understandably so sick of hearing ie "I ate a whole pizza 2 days PO - was that ok?? the people that read all those posts - are reading similar posts a million times over i think sometimes their - OP's "anger" comes out after hearing so many redundant statements/questions we/me/you sometimes forget that we were all "born" as newbies we had similar problems too - and the "audience" LOL - OP helped us nicely with answers to our comments, questions if something "harsh" was said we wouldn't be too happy cuz we were looking for help You/me usually can't go to a family member and talk about concerns with the sleeve they usually don't understand coming here to the board should be safe and we shouldn't have to "duck" sometimes when/if we hear an unkind, unnecessary remark IMO ANYTHING - tough love et al can be rephrased nicely - i.e. oh hun, i see you are having a hard time, i'm sorry but "suck it up kiddo" !!!! you got to do this or that...... sometimes i'm afraid i'm too "gushy" here  you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar!!!! ok guys, church services are now over God bless us all!!!!
  22. how much weight have you lost with sleeve? DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 5'3 now 130 lbs GOAL 59 years young still 5'3 there is not a word that describes how great i feel my health, happiness, energy - OMG!! amazing doesn't say enough

    Newbie to this site

Karmen081020 welcome to the neighborhood!!! 'we're" having a special for NEWBIES this month!!! you can drink all the Water and Protein drinks allllll month long doing a liquid diet will help jump start your weight loss but.........you will have to continue on Clear liquids, and then full liquids after surgery for a bit too!! put your mind to it - keep drinking ALL day - PO, you need to drink 64 oz a day start your moderation eating now - veryyyy little food caloric intake i have confidence in you i know you can do this!!!! you will need all your positive strengths to proceed with the sleeve you have to get into the "mood"/mindset for following rules, eating and drinking to lose weight might as well start now preparing for WLS good luck
  24. Jane I'm not doing plastics IMO - i would do plan A see how you feel after the first procedures - results et al if at a later time you decide you want to do the arms, great!!!! theres another board here for people that have had plastics - hopefully more people will respond sounds good that you like and trust the doc, thats very important the fact that the doc says he doesn't want to do too many reconstructions at once, sounds like the right thing to me i can see you look beautiful after losing 152 lbs (OMG) now you will look and feel even more terrific!!!! good luck with all can't wait to hear about your experiences!!!!

    my...my my

blackie220 OMG sounds like you've got alot on your plate it must be hard dealing with the house situation!!! that is always stressful insurance approval for WLS insurance situation - most of us have been there done that (know that doesn't help you any though ) venting here is great!!!! that's what we're all here for hopefully things will slowly come together (sooner than later) "TRY" not to have these problems consume you (easier said than done ) wishing you all the best!!!!! good thoughts that everything will work out good luck take care
