    Help Please

nervousnelle hi newbie sorry you aren't feeling great at the moment did you "forget"?? that you just had major surgery??? we all react differently to the WLS problems you mentioned do sound normal - that doesn't help your situation any though reactions, side effects from gas are not fun "don't feel like eating anything" - well, your tummy is on the mend - but you wouldn't be eating now anyways you'll finish your clear, full liquids, puree', soft foods and then finally solids good for you on continually sipping - and trying to intake the soup "things" do improve daily you should start to feel better soon "we" all give GREAT advice but........... any real concerns, medical (neck issues) et al should always be addressed to your doctor take care good luck

  8. bringiton please stop moving that scale around!!!! leave it in the exact same spot-always!!!! best time IMO is to weigh first thing in the morning in your bathing suit ooooops, meant birthday suit stand up straight, deep breath in - 2 hours later - breath out!!! i'm being extra silly today, sorry consistency is the answer!!!! weigh at about the same time, same clothes, or not , and leave that scale in one spot good luck

    Need a drink!

superchica879 sorry bud, gotta get used to not drinking with your meals forever and ever and a day!!!! at some point taking a 1/2 of a sip on an occassion during a meal is ok??? but - you are not ever supposed to drink with a meal people have been shot for less!!!! after you eat you must wait about 45 minutes to drink again (per your own NUTS instructions) rules concerning Water IMO are very important to follow ie how much you drink, when you drink, when you don't drink welcome to your new happier, healthier, longer life with your new best friend the sleeve i am now raising a glass to your health (water of course!! ) good luck kathy

    Large sleeve!

tannak as Chris R. mentioned from "above" the difference in bougie size is teeny, teeny, teeny hopefully you will feel that restriction "famous" saying here is "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" in other words even if you feel like you could eat more - STOP i'm sure you measure your food - only eat that!!!! my surgeon told me his favorite saying...... eat til you are full, then stop 2 bites earlier take care good luck

Calorie intake @ 1 year post op

HondaCivicDude Starting Weight 518 lbs now 365 lbs total weight loss 153 lbs Holy Moly guy !!!!! gone, gone, gone, forever - down the toilet!!!! FLUSH how great are you??!!!! 11 months PO - losing a couple of pounds per month???? hmmmmm, 2000 calories does sound like alot i'm 15 months PO eating 1200 calories i see you were self-paid (maybe you went to Mexico???) you might not have a NUT - or anyone to talk to??? Hopefully you have a PCP that can help/advice you if not, i suggest you find a local support group go to the hospital - explain your dilema even though you didn't have WLS with "them" they should be nice enough to give you a suggestion/name of a support group you can speak with others about your WLS - this is very helpful like i said - i am at goal eating 1,200 calories maybe a guy is allowed more calories??? but that sounds like alot of calories did anyone give you that # of calories to eat kudos on your wonderful weight loss keep up the great job!!!! you are on the right road to success towards a healthier, happier, longer life!!!! congrats

  19. Patrick Sooooo great to see you again !!!! many/me watched you as a "little newbie", starting your long walk towards great health you have done great at the beginning 'we" were so happy and excited to watch your journey eventually, you kindof dropped off the face of the earth (i do know you were other places but....)and wondered how you were there was even a thread called something like "anyone seen Patrick"??? How special does that show you are shows how much you are loved!!!! hope its ok to say when someone has a larger amount of weight to loose it can be easier to get upset, discouraged if a slip up is done I can't even begin to imagine what a hard road you have been walking don't ever throw in, or even drop the towel if you do slip on that banana - get up, get up!!!!! when you are having those harder days (or not) thats when its important to be here for support many people throw around the word "inspirational" Patrick you and your story are inspirational!!! continued success - you are doing great!!!!! i am looking forward to seeing less and less of you but........i want to see you more on the board, ok??? i remember, know you give great responses to posts but come here with any questions, (like how did the chicken cross the road ) OMG just about 200 lbs down!!! keep up the great job you are aces!!!! congrats

    What to Expect After Surgery

BullRidinMomma2011 hi newbie you want a RUNS down can't help it sorry - liquid, runs LOL are you pre-op, or post-op??? just curious no ticker, or profile hint, hint ok answering your question i had lottttttttttttts of Mrs. Grass's chicken broth (ummmm, ummmm good) comes in a box - alot of sodium, but my NUT said at this early stage, whatever i was able to hold down, sodium or not would ok to drink i used to have mrs gr. when i was sick - so i loved it i had llllots of SF popsicles they do count as fluids - helps to keep you hydrated - but there is no oz value to measure but it is a good source of liquid that most of us "I" loved!!! Protein shakes - i had a brand from GNC - but i wasn't holding it down well first couple of weeks many people have no prob with the shakes - others like me, did have problems Water is the liquid i drank as much as possible with drinking right after surgery, once again, we're all different some people have problems drinking - they drink a small ounce cup every 1/2 hour or so - if they can i was probably middle of the road was able to drink, but right after WLS drinking can be difficult good luck with WLS (if you haven't had it yet) speedy recovery take care kathy

    SO HAPPY

MommyofFive sure you can share how happy you are!!!! great feeling isn't it??? its amazing the different ways having WLS changes how people feel, inside and out i've heard it said "you won't be any different on the inside, just because you lost weight!!!!" in my case - i disagree i'm not the same person "inside" anymore sure i'm still wonderful, sweet et al but............my self confidence - how i feel - no words for how that has improved with that improvement - it has effected so much in my life, making me feel so terrific on the inside!!!! due to this new found confidence i go amongst the living volunteering at the hospital, going to the gym, just going around and around - here and there!!!!! its wonderful theres nothing like "Feeling so happy ) MommyofFive - so glad you are happy, enjoying your new healthier, happier life with that sweetie of a hubby, not to mention those 5 kids if they are anything like you - betcha they are the greatest!! 71 lbs - gone, gone, gone - down the toilet FLUSH!!!!! take care keep up the great job looking forward to seeing less and less of you!!!!

    Update

Dreax33 wow - you've been very patient this past year thats a great character to have regardless - but having patience with the sleeve is terrific don't stare at the scale, don't get upset when you have a stall (we all have them) glad things are coming together having had to wait so long for WLS - you will be very appreciative when your new big day finally comes!!! crossing my fingers, toes, and nose (what a site!! ) good luck God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It!!!!

    Anyone else

Dear Dude or Dudette hope your recovery is going well, no major problems?? sorry you feel so lonely/alone do you have a support group you can join??? they are great - you meet people in the same WLS situation your NUT/surgeon can probably direct you to meetings if you don't have a NUT - you can call your hospital (even if you didn't have surgery there) explain you had WLS - and they "should" help you find a support group - point you in the right direction people help each other - give suggestions, moral support just like here, but you are one on one in a group glad you joined here ask your questions - or just come here to talk with someone modestly speaking we're ALL great!!!!
