Best non-scale victory
ProudGrammy replied to fp9107's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
fp9107 a few of my favorite NSV's..... health problems being gone no more huffing and puffing able to easily pick up something i dropped!!! new found self-confidence "forgetting" where the plus size section is Kohl's having someone "almost" not recognizing the new me sitting in the middle of 3 people on airplain - with plenty of room on each side of me in the seat sitting in a restaurant booth sitting in a seat at the movies knowing there are many more NSV's in my future being the happiest, best person i've ever been kathy -
taylorelizabeth13 welcome newbie the more the merrier!!! you will get a lot of good info here we don't bite (too much ) happy WLS speedy recovery see you around the neighborhood kathy

ProudGrammy replied to superstarsandi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
superstarsandi Welcome to the neighborhood newbie we all have our different features - tall, short, loud or quiet but.............our common denominator is our weight, past, present and future we all have had our weight issues we 99.9%/most of the times are very supportive, especially to nice people like you "we've" walked in your shoes, sometimes tripping, but we tie our shoes and stand up again ask away with all your questions!!!! WLS one week from wednesday??? holy moly, stay calm - little nerves are perfectably understandable take care happy WLS speedy recovery kathy -
Question for all.
ProudGrammy replied to flyme_places's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
flyme_places hmmmmmm hardest to get used to???? all the Water rules stop drinking 1/2 hr before you eat never ever drink while eating don't drink for about 45 minutes after you eat drink 64 oz of H20 a day kindof a lot to swallow water probs were hard for me to get used to before you have surgery, you could slowly start to try and get used to all those water rules take it slow, try for awhile not to drink w/meals then just keep following the other water "stuff" - and you'll be more prepared for the game post surgery good luck with WLS speedy recovery kathy -
Having a bit of anxiety again now!
ProudGrammy replied to Pinky Green's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pinky 65 lbs gone, gone, gone, buried!!!! WooHoo your hard work has paid off i think we can all relate to losing a certain amount of weight, and then meeting the "devil"" again by regaining you have a specific # that you remember (172) - at this point you would regain you will get down to 171.5 - 169 and then down, down, and etc. etc. mental block - and i get it!!!! Irrational fears are totally rationable to the person who has "them" take a bunch of deep breaths every once in awhile when your anxiety rears its ugly face!!! you'll pass this hump - sooner than later continued good luck you are doing awesome!!!! feel better kathy -
So afraid I'll still look ugly
ProudGrammy replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WeeWers I am 59 years young too!!!!! my before and after pictures??? check out my profile (can't figure out how to post here ), left my glasses in the other room with my rocker and depends hmmmm I look pretty "hot" for a grammy !!! i enjoy "strutting" my stuff I also have/HAD "mental age issue/ problem" I envy the "youngons" having the WLS in their 20's + i am mad/regretful that i won't be able to enjoy the benefits of WLS as long as others i do think OMG i wish i had done this 30+ years ago but, get over it!!!! but...........this WLS wasn't around back in the dinasour age!!! you are finally gonna have surgery - and its wonderful, better late than never!!! I have some hanging skin (bat wings)at my arms - my stomach isn't bad at all, but down south, my inner thighs & rear end have plenty of excess skin all this being said................ i am so happy i had my surgery - regardless of my age words can't describe my feelings of joy daily i wake up looking forward to the new day (where as before i felt like hiding in bed) my diabetes is gone - no more needles/insulin/meds - nice normal blood pressure - no more CPAP!!!! walk around well - i do exercise "sometimes" - (don't love it!!) when/if i have the "droppsies"" in the grocery store or where ever i just bend down to pick it up, instead of moaning and groaning trying to reach the "protein bars" or whatever i don't huff and puff anymore i have sat in between 2 other people on an airplane - with room to spare on each side of my buttttt!!!! when i sat down in a seat at the movies for the first time - it felt so weird that there was all this excess room in the seat same happened went i went out to dinner - there was all this room between me and the booth!!!! it doesn't matter how young or old you are when you have WLS at 59 or 69 etc. etc - you will be starting your new healthier, happier, longer life - wow, great!!!!! be psyched!!!! Via my special glasses, i can see you are beautiful now, inside and out as you lose more weight, you might/will feel better about yourself - all over!!!! when you lose weight, you usually look younger/better - because you are not dragging all that excess weight like a ton of bricks i know i rambled alot here - takes me awhile to get to my point don't always remember what i started to say!!!LOL remember what "they" say we're not getting older, we're getting better!!! good luck with surgery!!!! chins up LOL kathy -
Janice like you said - being pregnant - gaining weight will stretch your tattoo losing weight, you will have less skin - so the tattoo will look smaller kathy

Getting Discouraged
ProudGrammy replied to KatieOkieDokie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Katie i'm so sorry you feel bummed out and discouraged, and physically not feeling great either am i reading correctly that you lost 70 lbs pre-op???? OMG thats great as Arts correctly stated, 32 lbs in 6 weeks is wonderful I'm afraid many many people here think that they are gonna have WLS on "friday" and wake up monday morning losing 100 lbs not gonna happen but i think you really do know that - you, like everyone else, just want the weight gone yesterday!!! Water is very very important!!!! not getting enough water in, possibly being totally dehydrated??? sure you will feel weak!!!! gotta force the fluids having blood pressure problems - meds off??? that will cause you to feel weak IMO thats the issue that needs to be fixed glad you have already seen a dr, hopefully he can figure out the prob continue to be pro-active with the doc til he figures out what to do with your meds tell him about the gas issues by not feeling well, not eating or drinking - thats gonna make you feel weak!!!!! gotta force yourself to eat and drink to help yourself do everything very slowly - sipping - taking extra small bites - taking long breaks between forkfuls you will mentally feel better as soon as the physical stuff gradually improves then you won't feel down about your weight situation please remember - you are doing great!!!!! just losing another 2 lb - holy moly girlfriend - you are on the right road to success!!!! take care feel better good luck kathy -
Jane et al hmmmmmmmmmm now that i'm at goal, losing 105 lbs - my weight loss IMO is the main reason for good things in my life continue "people" sometimes say post WLS - you DON'T change you are still the same person you were when you were heavier welllll - i'm not sure i totally agree My normal, old general "stuff" is the same I'm still the wonderful perfect person i always was!!! but now my "insides" are so much happier - which shows on the outside to others which makes me happy - being/showing my self-confidence I've heard from some on the board that they think all of a sudden people are being nicer, talking to them all of a sudden??? i think the reason for that could be that since you are happier about yourself, it shows, and people are "attracted" more to a happier person??? that could be a possible explanation sometimes how happy am i??? since i'm retired - i don't have to deal w/the daily "possible" stress/problems that people have on their job i don't have any little kids running around sometimes screaming, crying, sick (but they are usually joy!) moms don't get mad at me please - its rewarding, wonderful raising kids - they are full of love now that my daughter is 38, and grand-kids are here for the loving they are "returnable" when they start argueing and yelling with each other of course "MY" grand-kids are perfect i just had a wonderful experience of 5 week grand jury duty - very interesting doing my terrific volunteer work DH and i are "usually" pretty good so life in its "normal" day to day stuff is good what was the question again?? my happiness??? life is good!!!! 8.75 - 10.75!!! ok all i am now sending good vibrations to all of you to have a great day wishing all of "us" a healthy, happy, longer life kathy

ProudGrammy replied to dma2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
dma2013 eeeeeeeeek "disobey" your NUT??? are you kidding me people have been shot for less sounds like you are doing great!!!! you are only eating about 25 carbs???? OMG thats great!!! all/most NUTS/surgeon opinions vary from one to another always, always listen and follow YOUR NUT's instructions less than 6 weeks PO - 30 lbs, down, down, down - gone!!!!! you are getting all your H20, protein in!!!! limited carbs!!! what more could one sleever ask for??? sounds like your NUT knows what she is talking about keep up the terrific job!!!! kathy -
alene WLS in July - woo hoo sorry to rain on your parade but........ now is the time to try and follow/get used to rules that you will have post op - for the rest of your life you have WLS in about 6 weeks drink alot of Water (64 oz is required) NEVER drink with your meals(people have been shot for less!!! ) stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you eat don't drink for about 45 minutes after you eat IMO the water "situation" rules are the hardest but most important rules to follow i'm gonna give you a case of "do as I say, not as I do" about 3 weeks prior to my WLS, my feelings of eating to my hearts contents were similar to yours eat like there is no tomorrow I GAINED 10 lbs many people do eat "alittle crazy" prior to WLS - because they figure they will never eat certain foods again you will be able to eat anything though PO at a later time if you gain weight pre-surgery, thats all the more weight you have to take off after you have been sleeved couple days before surgery - 'maybe" its ok if you "splurge" alittle (if you don't have a pre-diet to follow per NUT/surgeon) go ahead and have those couple of sweets or something or that nice dinner - then stop!!!!! hope you enjoyed it!!!! you will eat again the WLS is not the end of your life - its the beginning of your new healthier, happier, longer life!!!! i know you will be successful before and after surgery i can see the determination combined with your smile in your lovely face see you on the other side take care happy WLS speedy recovery

What can I do to help you?
ProudGrammy replied to Suzannesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Newbies et al Suzanne is a lovely lady from sleeveland that lost 115 lbs!!! in 2008!!!! proving that there is life after many years of WLS!!!! what an inspiration she is!!! periodically she"pops in", showing her lovely slim self always smiling she's a great role model!!!! she was 62 when she was sleeved (I know she doesn't mind me saying her age) i only mention her age to show "older" people (like me )I was 57 when i had WLS - that its never too late to start your new healthier, happier, longer life people that have been sleeved a few weeks, months - we've all heard the same question comments from NEWBIES they are repetitious - telling their poop stories LOL - hair following out - Protein shake problems, STALLS et al they are good questions, we've said, asked them before - so now its the NEWBIES turn to ask them, since they never heard the answers most of us can remember asking those questions when we were NEWBIES too i know if 15 months ago i was referenced to use the search bar on hair, it wouldn't be the same as someone giving personal help on the board (its true that after someone gives a response checking the search area is helpful) so NEWBIES............. here we are - ask away!!!! any and all questions - go for it!!!! just remember, another NEWBIE might just have asked that question ie yesterday, so you might not always get that personal response i would like to also tell you NEWBIES when you introduce yourself - there are so many of you NEWBIES we don't get to individually welcome you just know even though we don't address each and everyone of you we all welcome you to the VSG board with arms open - on your successful road to "heaven" in sleeveland!!!! Suzanne, thanx for reminding us that all of us are here requesting support even when NEWBIES confess they ate something bad,,,,,,, we need to be there for them - but we also need to tell them to knock it off!!! if they do something wrong!/silly like eating 4 slices of pizza PO day 4!!!! not a good idea guys!!!! so newbies try not to be offended if someone "unintentionally" might not show their best side with a reply we're all usually the cream of the crop, here to help you the best we can but remember we'll answer your questions to the best of our capability but frequently you need/should check with your NUT/surgeon if its a more serious question about a possible leak, stricture et al for many things you must seek your doc/Nuts advice Suzanne, sounds like you are continueing to do great!!!! thanx for stopping by!!! - would love to see you more often welcome NEWBIES kathy -

Happy Mother's Day to all the brave sleever moms!
ProudGrammy replied to mamamareli's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mamamareli back at ya et al little vent ok???? while i was growing up my mom always "commented" on my weight my 4 siblings were either thin or average size, so what happened to me??? she was never very tactful about my weight "situation" mom lives in another state - she didn't see me through my weight loss process she saw me after i reached goal - looked at me and smiled and told me i looked "good" she made that comment about 2 more times that day - no more since then, she has never mentioned the accomplishment of losing 105 lbs or that i look good or nice whereas before - she always "mentioned" me being overweight!!! i guess certain memories stay in your head, whether you are 9 or 59!!!! my mom is now 83, and i do love her happy moms day to you all, my mom, and me and my daughter too - who has made me the "proudgrammy" 3X's over!!! by the way Janice - doggies do count for mothers' day kathy
