  1. Lunaya Welcome to VSG (also referred to as the venting/support board!! I think we all have been in your shoes coming here shows how smart you are - and how lucky we are All/most of have lost X amount of weight over the years - over and over again - just to regain it can/is a scary feeling how things will "work" for you after surgery having had many surgeries, like you i wasn't afraid of the operation itself i also was afraid - OMG - after all my failures, why will I all of a sudden will be successful now??? i didn't find the answer right immediately after surgery but as time progressed - and i continued to eat and drink properly, losing weight - i thought to myself "wow, i'm doing this" you do have the help now from your smaller tummy - thats why we were sleeved to help us be successful in losing this weight and keeping it off as you said - the sleeve is only a tool - but its a great tool!!!! it helps us moderate are food - not allowing us to eat much - actually very, very small bits of food but as OP said - you will be able to go out with friends and family - ordering an appetiser and only being able to eat a small bit (taking the rest home for another couple of meals) truth is just throwing in here for a minute hubby and i went to Red Lobster last night!!!! i had salmon and scallops w/broccoli- Um um good i ate 1/2 and took the rest home for tomorrow!!! I always remind my DH (darling husband) i am a cheap date As someone else said - sure you PROBABLY will slip up a bit - we/most all of have been there (i'm raising my hand ) btw if you start to goof up - a bunch of us climb through the monitor and reach out saying, no, no, no - don't eat that!! actually we just give you a hug - and we'll talk to you, listen to you vent - we are all here to help you we/you get back on the wagon, start on the trail again, and hopefully our GPS will take us on the right road We all know you can do this! we know it, we know it, we know it!!! we can try and convince you too - but you have the final word just keep telling yourself - "this time i will lose the weight, and keep it off - i'm so excited to start my new life, i will be successful" being scared, nervous - happy, excited too are emotions we all feel before WLS i am usually a good judge of character and i see your lovely smiling face and i say,"wow what a great candidate for surgery!!" I know she can do this, she will regain her health, and become happier with herself" DON"T second guess yourself - you have made the wise decision to have this surgery!! there will always be bumps in the road unless DOT paved that day come to the board and read many different questions and answers you are thinking to yourself then ask your own great questions we're all here for all you NEWBIES you will become a loser in no time - but we know you are a winner!!! keep up the great work with your pre-op take care bud you can do this good luck  kathy

    sliders

kulita hi there the Protein bar i lllllllllllllluv is MetroX Peanut Butter they should be outlawed cuz they taste irrisistably terrific its a bigggggggggg bar that has 30 grams of protein thats how i sometimes justify that its ok to eat but 30 grams of carbs OMG!!!! i am quite capable (and have )eaten 3 in a day!!!!! that is 90 carbs + i always have one yogurt and something frozen like chicken patties i know, i know shouldn't have all that pasteurized stuff oh well, i do have it though - haven't been shot yet in other words i gotta nix the frequent protein bars their so good though - kindof like eating a candy bar the chocolate truffle??? why didn't you call me that way i could have "helped" you not to have too many glad you are getting full now on your liquids et al you are doing great with your weight loss - congrats Rycherchick - excuse my cutting in, hijacking ok OP back to original great poster by Rycherchick kathy

    sliders

Rycherchick congrats on losing 62 lbs!!!! WooHoo via the board - i was told about sliders, and warned about their "danger" i have (3) sliders popcorn Protein bars yogurt I am too successful with eating more than i should without feeling full - thus the word slider but.......... took me a while but i now................. eat all the above muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh slower (like i'm supposed to anyways) the yogurt especially surprised me i would only have one yogurt for a meal or a snack - but i did eat it quicker than i should have now i'm taking a bite slowly, and stopping for a bit before eating more again, this is what i should have done from the beginning popcorn is getting better now too i "used" to have (2) two small bags of orville redenbocker (100 cal) on some nights it was so easy to eat more that you/i should thus the word slider now i might have one every few days - i'll hide the rest of the box from myself Protein Bars are my biggggg weakness I literally give the bars to my 6" DH (I'm 5"3) he puts them out of site on the highest shelf i ate them too quickly cuz i was afraid someone would come over to the house and steal them now i'll eat one over the course of a day (instead of "swallowing" them down at once) so my "slider" foods i have learned how to deal with them cuz i realllly do love to eat them continued success kathy

    Frustrated

Ashlie Marie i know 2nd hand smoke is dangerous that would be awful if the doc wouldn't allow you to have WLS do to others smoking actually, i don't think he would do that i understand about the smoking situation/issue i never was a smoker - but we/most of us are aware of the draw backs/harm of smoking (present smokers - just stating a fact - offense not meant to any of you personally - offense made to smoking in general i can only imagine it is hard to kick the nicotine habit "Maybe" some of your family (esp anyone that lives with you like DH or wife) have always tried to quit, and this gives them that extra motivation - to help you, not having that inhaled smoke I know many people here on the board stopped smoking so they could have WLS no more smoking is probably just as hard as no more bad, fatty foods et al but we're changing our eating to get healthy with our new life - stopping smoking isn't a bad idea either for your family good luck kathy
  12. slikchik10 great attitude welcome back i've misssed you well.......l i never really knew of you but if i had known you - i'm sure you are a great person that i would have missed glad you got rid of that lapband congrats on being newly sleeved good luck kathy

    Just venting

blessings hey newbie congrats on losing 45 lbs!!!! WooHoo!!!! thats a great average weight loss - NUT and doc both agree you are doing terrific 6 weeks no weight loss??? you are probably just in one of those dreaded stalls most/all of us have experienced (doesn't help matters any ) many many many posters here wish they would lose quicker we all have those feelings sometimes but then "they"/we are reminded that they didn't put the weight on overnight - and the weight won't come off like that either no prob on the venting better to vent here than yelling at a stranger then again some of us are pretty strange too!! you really are doing great continued good luck congrats kathy God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It!!
  16. heatwhip its not stuck - really i've had that same feeling in the past, so i know what you are talking about!!! the feeling really does pass, but it is/was scary for me too don't worry too much (easier said than done ) if you are having this bad feeling for too long though - check it out with your doc good luck newbie continue your good work for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life kathy

    No more weight lose!

BBGirl you lost $144.00?? Hee Hee - i know where it is!!! you had WLS june 2011 - benefit of the doubt - you might have lost the 144 lbs in 14 months or so???? bringing us to about september, october 2012? this is an awful long stall - and i can't imagine how bad you must feel I hate to say it but "maybe" your body has adjusted to where your weight is now it (your body) might be saying ............... "hey bud you've lost 144 lbs - maybe thats where we're gonna stop) but maybe its not saying that gotta cover my a ssssssssss you are eating sooo little at 2 years PO you are physically unable to eat more than 5 or so bites??? I agree maybe upping your calories a bit would help congrats on your amazing weight loss of 144 lbs (not $'s LOL) good luck kathy

Well... The Truth Finally Came Out!

RAAinNH[/b] i'm soooo sorry your "DH"?? isn't being supportive maybe as time passes he will be a little more helpful - or at least not try and sabatoge you so much I never understand when a man or women - even a family member says "I luv you just the way you are"?????? they don't mind if you staying overweight??? you look great to them anyways??? thats all well and good - people should love you for how you are, no matter what but when they know your health is being effected causing terrible morbities - OMG !!!! how could anyone love you like you are???? I was never a great "Donna Reed" cook i would cook sometimes, he would open a frozen pkg of something for us or mainly we would go out to eat sounds like he is a pretty competent guy - he's able to tell you to buy this and that!!!! he is probably "competent" enough to take care of himself with meals sometimes later, meals you make - like chicken et al - he will enjoy you are doing great with pre-op i know you'll do even better with WLS speedy recovery good luck kathy btw - he can buy his own corn tonight

  21. how does your face look after surgery?? OMG people see me and start running away and screaming in the street oh, oh i think i took an extra silly pill!! back to your question depends on your age - how you took care of skin prior to surgery and now after surgery - taking extra care - daily washings-creams/soap yes you might/will have "droopy" skin the weight seems to come from your face, excess skin sometimes going "down" a bit if you "feel" you look ill - comments have been made....see your doc and talk about issue he might suggest/give you some extra supplements during my weight loss - i did get a couple of comments from people who didn't think before they talked!!!! saying something like OMG - you have lost weight - are you sick??? or..... in all due respect you "might" be over reacting to what you "think" your face looks like??? just a thought i'm sure you are beautiful inside and out kathy
