DeniseM  hiccups happened all the time for me for quite awhile post surgery mine are also loud - and i sometimes get a few in a row where ever i am - my DH can hear me, he usually comes from a room, we look at each other and start laughing of course we often have done that through the years i don't know where all my fellow sleevers live, but........... i just had a BIG hiccup - didn't you hear me don't worry about the office your friends will understand, and get a good chuckle if you are around more "officials" at work- oh well, just smile and say............. oooooop, excuse me!!!! if hiccups are your only problem - God Bless you - good luck to you kathy

hello ladies great comments above referring to our thoughts of "older" pictures - seeing ourselves in days past guess i'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy seeing these pictures, especially amongst my thin/average sized family next big occassion will be in October in Georgia with all family i'm gonna be a camera hog!!!!! i will definitely have a nice picture of DH and myself chin is up (used to say "both" chins) still a little flabby - not as bad though pot calling the kettle black??? i try and be cheerful saying to others, things will be good - i really do mean that but..............what happens, now i'm in the dumps as they saying - trying to pull myself up by the bootstraps tomorrow will be a brighter and better day (for all of us) thanx for your responses take care kathy

Ant post op smoking cigarrwttes?
ProudGrammy replied to mariadt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
warning, warning, warning - non smoker here lexi6510 you made the wise/difficult decision/choice to have major surgery done on your tummy to improve your health the sleeve is/can be difficult, challenging, rules must be followed the same is true with smoking!!! you must stand tall and strong - and be committed determined to win the battle anyone that hasn't been sleeved yet, please try and quit ASAP ease up on your smoking - til you do eventually stop since you have already been sleeved IMO you should work just as hard on kicking the cigarette habit, as the food habit!!! working/dealing with 2 addictions will be hard but.........i can see in your face you have a lot of determination and willpower you will succeed with the sleeve to improve your health, as well as others around you - you could/would/should/will also quit smoking sorry for the "brief" lecture/opinion i'm sure its nothing you haven't heard before - still buddies ok good luck kathy -

Janice5/23 theres an expression here around the neighborhood............. just cuz you can, doesn't mean you should!!!! my NUT told me never, ever, ever use a straw!!!! but............some/your NUT might tell you that straws are ok I agree w/Richard - that if you must/want/prefer to use a straw give yourself a few weeks, to let your poor tummy to heal before you do the "deed" good luck kathy

hey bud i also think about food more than i should since no kids/grand-kids at home (except DH ) i keep our pantry empty of alllll "bad/tempting" foods that i know i shouldn't be around - sweets/cookies/et al for me - i think about food when i'm not busy, bored, watching tv - thats when i want to attack something (like many of us) 93% of the time in the evening is when i think about food i have given in to my feelings and had that extra MET-RX Protein Plus Protein Bar (creamy Peanut Butter crisp) 3. 0 oz 310 calories 33 gr carbs way tooooo much i would rather not have those couple of bites of a pie/slice/this or that evil - i feel its like i'm teasing myself so, what works for me is abstinence,, "of food" as far as the mall, i walk in the middle of the walkway/hallway - wearing "blinders" like a horse then i don't look at any food - really pretend its not there whatever works right?? getting busy/occupied would help me alot - not battling with the food issues easier said than done amytug - i wish i loved to exercise as much you do - that would keep me occupied i wouldn't think of that "treat" while on the eliptical to all of us sleever around the world - stand strong we're all in the same boat but this time, when we get into that boat, it shouldn't sink good luck kathy

tbomb my NUT didn't just "recommend" me not to drink carbonated beverages she said, "NO WAY to ANY carbonated beverages" i was lucky, i was never a big soda drinker some NUTS allow "alittle soda" maybe i'm sure many people miss drinking soda some sleevers do drink a little soda whether their nut approves or not - i believe but............oh well gotta follow all the rules, can't pick and choose what rules to follow good luck kathy

hi newbie good for you that you realized the "error of your ways" you realize you MUST drink early PO its most important to drink as many fluids as possible and after your early stages - you must continue drinking more and more - at least 64 oz a day but......drink more if possible/which it is it is common to get dehydrated PO(not good, but it does happen to some) i "thought" i was getting in my Water - but 2 months PO - i had to go to the ER to be hydrated no fun as you found out i'll never forget the date - it was valentines' day ) my dh brought me flowers what a smart guy he is - after all he married me!! even though its a hard lesson to learn - you are now aware that you must drink lotsssss of water i can see in your lovely face and smile you will be a success congrats on your weight loss so far - and hitting onederland too!!!! good luck kathy -

finleyd i turned 58 one month after surgery (don't tell anyone ) not knowing/experiencing what "younguns" went through losing their weight - i can't compare situations...(young & older).... but i can say i had a great surgery, recovery and continue to be successful age "might" be a factor in the equation................knee, orthopedic problems but someone who is 23 can and does have similar problems i think i have turned into a spring chicken and am now 59 years YOUNG neither age or "size" matters good luck kathy

Rashaun I have this "magnet" in my body i would drive by Taco Bell - and my car would immediately turn in to the drive in whether i wanted to eat the food or not - of course i always "gave" in and sacrificed myself to yummy tacos as i was losing weight - my "magnet" still drew me to the plus size area in the stores it was mentally hard to realize i didn't need to shop their it was also hard to believe to "push" myself into trying on smaller #'d clothes i always reached for the large size, then a small size always tried the larger size on first now i try the smaller size on - and usually buy that!!!! "maybe" jumping the gun alittle if you are buying clothes 3 months pre-op thats ok though maybe buy ONE special jean/certain size that you will look forward to wearing even if/when you grow out of them - you will feel great that you were successful in getting to that smaller size we alllll love clothes NSV's happy shopping good luck kathy

Who has actually reached goal?
ProudGrammy replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who has actually reached goal? I have i have - 100%!!!! jumping up and down doing raising my hand while doing the happy dance, rubbing my little tummy, and chewing SF gum at the same time the sky is the limit to what % you want to lose sure losing 60 + % is a success sometimes i think docs use that low % so they can show their (docs) % rate of patients being successful i "mark" my goal date at one year PO i was fluctuating a couple of lbs - but i was at goal now 6 months since goal - i am maintaining i might slip here or there - (most/all of do sometimes) but i am doing well - enjoying GOAL weight fluctuates about 2 lbs on occassion maintenance can be harder than losing the weight but i think we all know that we had that prob with our yo yoing before gaining the weight back i continue to say and believe - that for me - with the aide of the sleeve - i will keep my weight at goal, fluctuating here and there at times i/we have gone through "too much" - major surgery to help us lose weight - i can not go backwards now in the past i, as all others, have gone through too many "personal" issues being overweight - self-esteem, confidence et al and more importantly all the health problems associated with our weight now i'm so happy i feel like i could burst sometimes, really and.........this 59 year old grammy - is cute as a button go to my profile, check out my before and after pictures  i'm enjoying the healthier, happier, longer life that we all want i am proudly showing off my stats DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 5'3 present 130 lbs GOAL still 5'3 you can do anything you set your mind to follow all the rules i know you and everyone else will be a great success story good luck kathy -
