    4 1/2 months post op

Jessie Lyons' "they" say you can't stretch your tummy (when 85% of your tummy was taken out, the stretchy part went too) this is per my surgeon and NUT - and many many many others on the board say the same thing there is an expression on the board, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" in other words if you have found out that you are cabable of eating more - DON'T at 4.5 months i was still measuring - whatever your proper portion per your NUT tells you is what you should eat you shouldn't even be aware that you can eat more "they" say your stomach "relaxes" after a time period thats better than saying tummy stretches, cuz it doesn't only eat proper portions - then you won't have to worry that your tummy can hold more just eat amount that the NUT blessed keep up the good work/job good luck kathy

  4. Reigo i used to think, "if i'm gonn eat too much of something - a Protein Bar sounds ok' full of protein right??? true, its full of protein, and if i could have one on a certain day and stop, it would be ok but i can't stop at just one!!!! i do get hooked i'm still working on it at my request 6'2 DH puts bars way up high where i can't reach them, then he'll give me one when i ask the other mid-day, i actually pulled a chair to the pantry and stood up on a chair to get the bar!!!!! NSV - i was always afraid to get up on a chair - if i fell with allllll this weight unfortunately this is not an NSV i want to repeat as OP have said - protein bars are like candy/crack do they have a special protein bar rehab place?? maybe they should - lots of us would join and get to meet other addicts kathy

  7. babsvt after WLS i did the following i always drank as much as possible i was on clear liquids the first week then full liquids soft foods solids i was not told to do a mush/pureed' stage but as you pointed out - always follow what your NUT or doc tells you (unless they tell you to jump off the empire state building ) surgery being next week, going to a foreign country its understandable to have nerves/stress come to a peak keep coming back to the board with your questions, read responses good luck speedy recovery you are on your way to a new healthier, happier, longer life kathy

how to begin at the gym

dollop starting at the gym..............walk around the track for 1/2 an hour treadmill??? anything/machine you might recognize a bit - get on it, slowly at first, little nervous do a little, just getting use to it - then do more the idea of going with someone for a little help/support is great IF you can scrape up those pennies to add up to a trainer, maybe take a class with a couple of other people too - that would be cheaper (my gym does that) when i got on the eliptical for the 1rst time - trying to work with the control panel - i finally asked the girl next to me to help!!!! i agree that people don't usually mind helping out even showing you how to do a machine - put the settings to your height, adjust weights et al kindof like ex newbies on this board - getting help from vets in the past newbie "grows up" into a VET - and then they "pay it forward" to the next newbie - who then.......... just like the gym VET that can help a newbie i think many/most newbies to the gym thinks EVERYONE have their eyes on you truth is they don't, we're not that important they are concentrating on their workout, maybe looking up a bit, but not really looking at you or anyone else they might be checking out some cutie across the way!!! the gym and the sleeve can go "hand in hand" good luck kathy

    My recent GS experience

Diannap hi newbie welcome to the neighborhood many/most of us are just here, hanging around to listen to your questions, vents et al it helps me/maybe others to stay on track by coming to this board seeing new questions, hearing good answers just keeping me/others on the straight and arrow!!!! many/some questions you might have will be repetitive from our newbie days but we love to answer questions and help newbies thats why we get the big bucks we got alot of help in the past from other VETS we're here to "pay it forward" we don't have all the answers, but we're pretty smart 6 days PO - and you are still around to talk about it!! glad you had a good experience in Mexico co-ordinator being so helpful you are not the easiest person to work with???? hmmmm, i'm sure there are others worse than you - thats pretty bad!! sorry you are still dealing with gas situation this too shall "pass" things should/will get better day by day it must be hard watching others have normal meals i always considered myself lucky cuz its only me and DH at home don't have to prepare meals for kids et al i make DH fend for himself sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders!! as you mentioned - time and effort are very important patience is also key you didn't gain weight overnight - won't come off that quickly either but it will come off never compare yoursellf to other peoples weight loss we are are all different - and we lose at our own proper speed follow all the rules - Water esp. Protein et al - you know what to do you'll be another pretty face in the crowd with success stories to one day telll your grandkids good luck on your path to a healthier, happier, longer, life continued speedy recovery and success kathy
  23. kailie i'm sorry WLS isn't gonna happen now but..............please don't give up don't have the money now?? qualify for a bank loan??? co-signer??? any chance to save up before the end of the year - so you don't have to restart the journey with a new deductible i know money is/can be a tough issue for many of us if it isn't gonna happen this year - it can still happen don't know your age - but its never too late for WLS and just cuz you can't have WLS right now - TRY not to eat yourself 10-20+ lbs but............. if you never are able to have WLS (which i hope won't be the case) - life will go on wishing you luck towards a plan and getting WLS good health and happiness vibrations being sent you way - with an "attachment" of a hug too kathy
