I'm starting the process
ProudGrammy replied to sbailey1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
found a place that took my insurances - Medicare sbailey1 i had to go to "informational" meetings, then 3 meetings prior to WLS this is one of the first steps in getting the surgery, then speaking with surgeon, and then, and then.. and then....... continue to gather lots of info read these boards we all will help, support, and give our words of wisdom?? what kind of procedure are you having done??? when i had surgery medicare was not accepted (now it is) the sleeve was not being covered by all insurances (still isn't, but i think its improving) two years po i had to fight to finally have my sleeve surgery paid for by my secondary ins (but thats another story) your emotions will be all over the place as you are approaching surgery being happy, nervous, scared et al then again - periodically post op you might feel many different emotions too goes with the territory good luck kathy reread your post i see you just joined us yesterday woohoo welcome -

Science says the band stinks and the sleeve works.
ProudGrammy replied to CoffeeGrinDR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Science says the band stinks and the sleeve works. CoffeeGrinDr I'm responding to your post by saying i'm not gonna respond to that statement in fear of my life there are "lappers" et al on this "community" board now and out of respect (and a little fear ) i wouldn't touch your comment with a 10 ft pole!!!! i am sooooo very happy that i had my sleeve done 2 years ago DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 5'3 12/15/13 130 lbs goal still 5'3 but everyone has a right to their opinion / thought on what surgery to have especially you - and i respect your thoughts and the interesting listed references/statements and i/we all wish them well i see you are about one month pre-op best of luck to you speedy recovery kathy -
channelle102 woo hoo day 5 feeling good??? can't get much better than that as with everything else, different docs/surgeons/nuts have different orders what you can eat always follow your prescribed food orders look forward to days 6, 7 ,8 et al for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy

Am I the only one that wants to eat this or that for the last time before surgery?
ProudGrammy replied to MNMema's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MNMema  R you kidding me??? I think the people that don't have your feelings/thoughts are the exception not saying that its good to have a food funeral, i did it though shhhhhh, between you and me I gained 7 lbs not a good idea if you feel the need to have that last meal before you start pre-op I say go for it (others might not agree ) just don't go crazy the more you weigh day of surgery, the more you have to lose its true you will be able to eat that steak or whatever else later, but in much smaller quantities - but thats our new improved lives and thats great!!!! but splurging once IMO is ok but..........get back to eating correctly, moderately, drinking lots of Water before you know it you'll have your pre-op then look out................ you will be sleeved and on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy -

ProudGrammy replied to HarpersMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HarpersMom Happy you are happy about your upcoming NEWBIE OMG you'll have 2 kids in diapers better you than me i'm "pretty" sure you will have to do another 6 month for insurance as with everything else, docs are all different on certain instructions i've heard some people say they had to wait 2 years before they are "supposed" to get preggo other docs might say sooner check with your doc - as with everything else, you should always listen to YOUR surgeon there is a thread here for "preggo's called Pregnancy with Gastric Sleeve Surgery check it out what a way to start the new year good luck with he/she kathy congrats -

Attention Veteran Sleevers!
ProudGrammy replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
most of the vets 3 yrs + probably don't follow the app anymore.. seems like there are more vets hanging around on the boards these days looking to help others, but also their/my needs are helped too vets et al stil need support, with issues such as maintaining other things too, supporting and answering OP questions many/most people join boards like this for help to their questions/support pre-op and then after surgery this lasts for about 12-18 months frequently busy with enjoying doing things they might not have done before WLS enjoying their new lifestyle thats great - even though we miss many of them i continue to enjoy being here I am also busy enjoying my new wonderful life, but......... being on the boards helps/"reminds" me/others too - about things i/we must do to continue to be successful VETS know what to do, but it does get hard some/many times to always follow all the rules VETSI(me) do "slip" up sometimes, graze, eat too much - so its good for me to stay here i also enjoy answering questions to newbies especially - since i asked those questions 2 years earlier kindof like "paying it forward?" i'm so happy with my life - but as i said - for me coming to see all you other sleevers reminds me to keep on my toes how could i forget?? keep absorbing/using all the good info you will continue to get try and start losing weight now, even before pre-op diet the more you lose now, the less you have to lose post op (obviously ) DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 12/14/13 130 lbs GOAL still 5'3 good luck kathy -
can not donate due to my surgery. . not in the best interest of my health. butterfly_gal i am so very sorry for your mom dealing with cancer i know you and family and friends are dealing with so much sadness/feelings about your mom i can only imagine your feelings that at this time that you are unable to proceed with donating some of your liver i would continue your discussion with surgeon, seeing if anything can be done to change his mind maybe he could have more consultations/discussion with your bariatric surgeon, discussing your good/improved health since WLS but.............as you wisely said - get another opinion you love your mom so very much - want to help her its easy for me to say, but - try not to blame yourself if you are not allowed to proceed in helping your mom 'm sure your mom is very happy for your success/weight loss keep trying to make it work - hope you can be successful thoughts going out to mom and you good luck my friend take care kathy

"How was your pain at this point?" Andrew Welcome home sorry you are having a little pain/discomfort if your fever continues, call your surgeon (today is friday, so don't wait for the week-end) if nothing else, he can reasure you that all is well, or tell you this or that for help there is a saying here on the board "the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different!!! in other words for the most part no two people have the exact story regarding their surgery journey/weight loss/et al many of us (me) have few problems or none immediately after surgery never compare yourself to others - people have been shot for les things do usually improve sooner than later take care feel better good luck kathy
-
Tony some, many people have pain in their shoulder related to gas Its not pleasant, but as everything else, it DOES get better sooner than later it took many/ME for people to sleep on their side their is a thread on that subject (i don't know how to get a link to you, but i'm sure someone else can help with that) thats terrific that you are getting so much Protein in from the shakes (yechhh ) but..........hope the doc enforced that Water is very, very important at your early stage drink now, sip, sip and then sip some more water will continue to ALWAYS be important, necessary (at least 64 oz) for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life glad you feel "pretty" ok except those couple of issues rest and take it easy if possible you just had major surgery (if you forgot ) good luck speedy recovery kathy
