Pre-op diet - pantry necessities
ProudGrammy replied to wittygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@wittygirl i also did the basic stuff about ridding the pantry/fridge/freezer of most/all "bad" foods suggestion - do not put frozen yummy SF popsicles in pantry!!! but...................i also decided to paint my walk in pantry a pretty sky blue makes it look nicer getting my food now i enjoy walking into my pantry - picking out my food its always been very important for me to set a "pretty" plate putting on a nice small plate always use complimentary colors to eat ie fish (white) with example green Beans, spinich et al fish and cauliflower - people have been shot for less good luck with pre-op and surgery of course kathy -
@@ClarityHill Protein Bars are absolutely delicious they have plenty of protein as advertised which is great carbs "can" be high so as with many things you need to check the label many/me too, find the Quest bars delicious - yum yum you can buy them at for example GNC - other stores too but not by me probably online this/that being said............... i rarely buy protein bars because they are very addicting for me can easily eat tooooo many over a day Protein Bar is good to throw in your purse or glove compartment when you know you might be unable to grab lunch or if you are really hungry - better a protein bar than a container of ice cream four weeks PO - and you are still alive to talk about it!!! keep up the good work i know you will enjoy the ride to your healthier, happier longer life good luck and best wishes kathy

ProudGrammy replied to fred2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@fred2014 welcome back we've missed you glad you decided/realized that coming back for support/help/encouragement here works for you its hard when you/me/we have personal issues/problems in our life to continue being on our new lifestyle program, continueing to lose weight can be harder unfortunately some/many/all of us will have to deal with stuff throughout the years and we shouldn't/must not let these problems interfere with our weight situation (i know this is much easier said than done) you are right that you can't turn the clock back get back on that wagon - i know you can what is worse than gaining 20 lbs??? gaining 21 lbs!!!! congrats on being a smart cookie, and coming back to join the party (we have drinks flowing all day, Water of course ) good weight loss so far i only see success in your future i know you want to be a loser again - but i think you will continue to be a winner good luck kathy -

@@natalie_christin some of us (raising my hand ) don't exercise enough/or at all, and theres no good reason/explanation we might give various excuses/explanations i'm too tired, i'm busy, the kids - or the ever popular - I woke up with a pimple!!! good for you on looking into "special" types/ways to exercise how about checking with your insurance to see if they would pay for a "specialized" trainer talk to your ortho too maybe go to your therepist and repeat exactly what you wrote he might /probably will have suggestions but............make sure you do talk to doc about what you would like/plan to do don't just exercise without discussing with him/her first there are videos "out there" called something like "CHAIR EXERCISES" they do work with muscles, weights emphasizing/using your whole body during exercise you will be sitting in a chair all the time, or will be supported by the chair at times if you can stand a bit i think this would/could be great for you hope your meds kick in, and allow alittle more mobility don't know what you've lost, or how much more et al (no ticker et al ) you are doing great i see the determination and spunk in your pretty eyes take care keep up the good job congrats on your weight loss success, today and in the future good luck kathy

heres my online dating story pre-pre WLS centuries ago i was married for 8 years at one time my ex went to my parents commenting on how he wasn't happy with "stuff" because i was getting heavier and heavier!!!! (my parents told me years after the fact) fast forward 8 years i was divorced with a beautiful 5 year old daughter we moved in with my parents mom and dad bought me a membership with a dating service (something underlying in that, but thats ok) bunch of duds that weren't interested in even trying to get to know a "fluffier" type of girl i was supposed to meet one guy for a drink and dinner we met for a drink and he said "oh i think i'll skip dinner, i ate a lot before i came!!! in otherwords kathy, get lost!!! met a wonderful guy from online dating a few months later he was a youngun - i was 38 and he was ONLY 35!!!!LOL we've been married 21 wonderful years 22 altogether, but 21 happily DH hates it when i say that silly joke btw - hubby was heavy when we met - still is (he doesn't have any plans to change) the thing about real love - you do/are supposed to love unconditionally whatever size you were or are this is my story and i'm sticking to it kathy

Mini gastric bypass
ProudGrammy replied to waiting4miracle's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
@@waiting4miracle is that kindof like being "alittle bit pregnant??" as all above have said - check it out thoroughly i read the reasons you heard/stated from the doc about the mini bypass, but, hmmmm???? not sure i understood all though if i were to go through major surgery (which of course i did ) i would do a full gastric bypass i had the sleeve 85& of my stomach was cut out (best decision of my life) i wouldn't want only 42.5 % of my tummy removed best of luck with your "informed" decision good luck kathy -
@@xojessny if you are concerned about OP seeing what you are or are not eating............. get used to it 2 weeks before surgery you will be drinking the shakes after surgery, you'll be eating differently with "mush" pureed, soft and finally solids people might be curious (nosey) about why you are eating what you are get used to the "possible" stares/questions if i didn't tell someone i had WLS - i would tell them i am trying to lose weight (i/you probably have said that before) special diet - liquids, Protein et al if it still bothers you.... knock it off you are the one that counts!!! and this is the way you'll be eating for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life good luck with surgery speedy recovery kathy

Do you feel weird telling people exactly how many pounds you've lost?
ProudGrammy replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Comfy_Blue I don't "think" they are being nosey like with some/many of us the # has meaning family are the ones that seem to be the "curious" ones when i lost 50 lbs - i acknowledged that to OP but when i said i lost 105 lbs...........they make their own assumptions on how much i did weigh i can see their minds working overtime - or the calculators coming out of the purse/pocket Oh well - again its the # thing we/OP are frequently obsessed by btw - how much did YOU lose?? 72 lbs!!!! you are aces keep up the good job (i know you will ) kathy congrats -
@@NotLookinBack "funny" how the mind works in my case i do see the new me (remember i am cute as a button ) i always wore big blue jeans the first time i realized my weight loss - was after a shower and i turned in the full length mirror and said..... OMG where is my rear end?? its was gone don't you see stuff like that?? like your boobs and tummy, arms gone south?? if you don't - it will eventually click as @☠carolinagirl☠ said - "clothes sizes don't lie" i don't have many "before" pics when i look at the old me pics - i get upset/sad - and think was i really that big?? i know there is a special word for what you are describing dism.........not sure of exact name but its exactly what you describe about looking in the mirror as the new you - but still seeing the old self this situation happens to many, common but i can see you are looking terrrrrific 85 lbs gone!!! take care keep up the good work kathy congrats

ok guys did all/most of you have reflux before WLS? i never really did (except when i ate too much chocolate or pizza late at night) i started taking a PPI per my doc right after surgery indefinitely!!!! i just took/take it cuz he told me i should/no questions asked i am now "officially" concerned/spooked about what the future "might" hold then again, i'm not gonna worry about the "what might happen in life in general" i don't foresee stopping the PPI - but.........maybe i'll mention/talk to my NUT/surgeon kathy

Ok so what's more important, the water intake, vitamin intake or the protein consumption?
ProudGrammy replied to KeeWee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@KeeWee WATER at all times, always is the most important but vitamins and protein are neck in neck you should be drinking at least 64 oz a day that being said............... many people have difficulty downing water immediately post op lack of water "might" contribute to your dizziness (check with doc) many people go through nausea not that that helps you any i have heard on the board that drinking room temperature water works for some some people use chrystal light you should be counting your Protein shakes as liquid (protein too of course) you have no problems drinking them??? thats great at your early stage especially - you must FORCE yourself to successfully drink some/many people have become dehydrated for not drinking enough you then have to go to the hospital and get rehydrated with IV's i had to spend the night in the hospital no fun i'll never forget the day i had to go to hospital it was Valentines Day 2012 !!!!! DH brought me flowers and i drank them LOL only kidding about drinking them but he DID buy me flowers he's a very smart guy - after all he married me!!!! when your friend talks about her "rockstar", listen and smile and let her go on about her present success if she tries to convince you of something just say something like "I am doing what works for me" glad stuff is going well for you with your plan "we're all different and i am following my NUT/docs plan" protein is verrrrrry important - water more important never heard the question about which is more important, vitamins or protein both are essential i do understand how hard it can be to swallow "elephant" pills as i call them @@bellamabella gave a great suggestion about the liquid vitamins your NUT might be the one to help you with Vitamin suggesstions/help some people take smaller chewable vitamins i think try everything, but you must get your vitamins in daily i have my pills in a container on the middle of my bathroom counter i take them after my shower don't forget to take your vitamins!!!! people have been shot for less!!!!! once you are on soft foods you will get protein from eggs, vogurt, cottage cheese, soft cheese et al you'll get a lot of protein from fish and chicken and steak too!!!! keep on trying with everything - water, protein, vitamins - they are all crucial in their own way i know you can do it i see the determination in your pretty eyes keep up the good job for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life 40 lbs down since pre-op??? holy moly girlfriend!!!!! you are aces good luck kathy congrats -
@@jdillon listen and take notes from the NUT she should/probably will give you a lot of info that you need to remember discuss Protein shakes, Water intake telling you when to change stages how much to eat telling you to measure your food so much more after she's done talking you "might" realize your pending questions have been answered you might think of more questions hopefully she won't mind an email or phone call from you (i did that frequently with my NUT) always follow YOUR NUT's rules she is the ONLY one you should listen to (except me of course ) you will get good suggestions from others here fellow sleevers will tell you their experiences from their NUT we are all great !!!!!! helpful, supportive you name it and we're all "full of it" most times they will pass along the fact the you must listen to your NUT or surgeon too!!!! what a great lady are you!!!! getting food and stuff ready for hubby and son!! its good to help them now but........ after surgery i'm sure (hoping) that DH will be there for you, other family too would be great time to concentrate on you!!!!! you are the important one!!!!! your emotions might/will be all over the place until July those feelings happen to many/most/all us take care good luck speedy recovery kathy
