I see the original poster, is no longer with us (no she didn't die LOL") but talking about reflux is always important, newbies need help - answers Awful, awful, awful!! That terrible burning sensation!!I also was woken up with that burning, terrible feeling - I immediately sat up - went to fridge, and grabbed a slice of bread - had about 3 bites - this helps a bit - take prescribed med or tums. For me - continuing to lay on back would be awful. good luck kathy

Worried About Water
ProudGrammy replied to betterL8thanever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hi newbie, welcome to our board - we keep getting "smaller" and "smaller" sure you will be able to drink "normally" again. many OP struggle to get ANY water down the hatch so quickly PO./ later too. consider yourself lucky!! at your early stage, continue to take small sips - ask your NUT when you can "officially" start drinking more at once - and eventually be allowed to gulp. You and other OP that can drink so much - congrats, that's wonderful. Can't drink too much water. It's so good and important for all - drinking a glass to your health☺️ good luck with sleeve next week kathy -

Only 50lbs loss in 7.5 months
ProudGrammy replied to FitLMFT's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@FitLMFT hey bud Welcome to the neighborhood I see you just joined our "small" group - we are all getting " smaller and smaller" by the day😊 Read these boards, gather lots of info from OP - they will spread their words of wisdom/ give their advice - and tell you of their experiences when all is said and done listen to your DOC/NUT - they are who matters the most Glad you are aware of the many stalls that you and OP have you ""only" lost 50 lbs !!- don't say the word "ONLY" - that word should be eliminated for weight loss say "I lost 50 lbs" what an accomplishment - Woo Hoo Woo Hoo!! party dance, party dance Don't EVER compare your weight loss, how long it took you to lose anyone else Try not to be discouraged - (easier said than done) stalls do happen, and i know you will lose those 60-70lbs!! "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It" Watch out today with the holiday yummy foods (my favorite is the stuffing!!) i know you will do great!! You are aces - drinking a glass of water to your health! good luck happy turkey day kathy -

How many ounces at 2 months?
ProudGrammy replied to The Preacher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@The Preacher phew - i feel so relieved now!!😊 dude? i use it as a slang word, Webster says "dude = guy" no deep meaning - nothing special, that's the way i and use it. following directions from your NUT is the name of the game. Getting all your water and protein, you are aces!! Guess i'm preaching to the choir!! hey dude -you are doing great - keep up the terrific job for the rest of your healthier ,happier life☺️ kathy -
How many ounces at 2 months?
ProudGrammy replied to The Preacher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@The Preacher As me and OP have commented, 8 oz might be too much measure, put food on small plate - that makes you and your head feel like you know you have eaten enough. Head games play a big part in your/our journey the expression i hear and like, "Just Because You Can, Doesn't Mean You Should" good luck dude (is it ok that i call a preacher a dude? 😏 kathy -
Great Article/Blog Post: Deadly Mistakes With WLS Than Can Ruin Your Life
ProudGrammy replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@FluffyChix tsk tsk tsk - did i spell that right?? such language😏 you and article are ace!! who luvs ya baby?☺️ kathy -
@brittsleeved718 welcome welcome welcome and welcome i see you just joined us 5 hrs ago!! Can't give you "official" advice since i'm not a waitress - thought i'd still answer with my thoughts. read these boards - gather a lot of good info., hear personal experience/stories too. Grab a book, watch U-tube too. - but at the end of the day, only listen and follow directions from your NUT, doc. and me too of course!!🤣 KNOWLEDGE is POWER I wouldn't go back to work immediately. You might be week/tired. if you can afford it, maybe 1/2 days for a week per many- most docs say "you are not supposed to lift anything over 5 lbs for awhile" .busing and cleaning tables - you do a lot of hard, heavy work. (not sure if many OP appreciate you!!) but i think you are great, and luv ya!! good luck with your new wonderful journey to health and happiness!! kathy

How many ounces at 2 months?
ProudGrammy replied to The Preacher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@The Preacher I was eating 4 oz at 2 months - like you said all docs are different good for you that you are eating protein first. IMO, at 2 months PO - 8 oz is too much!! I like a silly joke that i say here at times - A guy on a bus asks a stranger."when do i get off the bus to go to X street?" The guy says, "watch me and get off two stops earlier." (my warped sense of humor) in other words, eat how much you are allowed, but stop a couple of spoonfuls before. If you are eating as slowly as you should - you might get full earlier, but regardless, you should stop when you have eaten your correct portioned amount, especially since you are so early PO. pre and post op - You have already lost 124 lbs eeeek, that is great good luck dude kathy -
@wanda1952 hey bud, what a bummer🙁 The doc that removed the lapband - is the same doc that will put in the bypass?? right?? Not sure abut the ol' doc club?, but something similar happened with my knee replacement. I wouldn't sue the "bad" doc. !!! I don't think the time and trouble is worth it. made you suffer - no fills - weight loss? some pain PO - your case might be different since you were in OR so long, and had more "fixing" than normal. Hopefully pain will go away/get better soon. Being scared to have the bypass is understandable - in my opinion you SHOULD have the WLS. Good doc you trust. Waiting til February is also good, hopefully you will feel better and not so scared. (as time approaches WLS, you prob will get a little nervous) - but excited too- you will be starting your NEW life. good luck kathy

Why isn't anyone talking about having no support system? Because I sure dont
ProudGrammy replied to Toya6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Toya6 welcome to the group - we keep getting "smaller" and "smaller"😉 sorry you are lacking support🙁 don't dismay - OP here love to help others w/info - support and sympathy , most of us have good ears, and wide arms - waiting for newbies like you. can you check with your doc/NUT if they have a support group - or can send you in the right direction. continue posting on U tube, doing your journal. keep a record of all your NSV's - you will hear that word a lot. It means NonSleeve/Surgery/Victories - ie the first day you can cross your legs. Many clothes NSV's like getting into a smaller size. Being able to wrap a bath towel around you (that was a huge one for me) Take pictures of yourself now, and periodically - take your measurements too. If you don't see the scale move - the tape measure will be a good indicator to your success. bummer that you had to leave hospital early to care for your kids. hopefully you are still able to take care of yourself-you are the important one now!! good luck - i know you will do great - you are aces!!!🤗 kathy -

@magpie26 i watched it in the past - not recently, I feel too sad watching those "slightly" overweight people. so obese ---- need help in and out of bed, washing etc. not able to walk, every day struggles, very sad - the peep that do loose lots of weight, wonder if they are able to keep it off?? Must be hard!! - i feel bad for anyone that is overweight (like i was) some OP have said that watching the show helps them, makes them realize what not to be - (the heavy weight) @magpie26 congrats on 104 lb weight loss!!! you are aces!!😊 kathy

I ONLY eat FAGE 0% yourt, i add a teeny bit of sweet 'n low mix it with fresh blueberries - woo hoo - yummy to my teeny teeny tummy😋 20 gr protein, 100 calories, don't know the sugar, but i know its low - kathy

@Road Runner love the above sentiment - i didn't have any pictures from my past. Like many OP, I ran from the camera, or stood in the back, trying to hide myself. (but i was pretty hard to miss!!) I had DH take a full picture of me before surgery. good suggestion for newbies, also taking their measurements throughout the journey. I wanted to remember what i looked like, its my past that i don't want to forget. Not dwell on, but remind myself at times when i might/or want to eat. keep up the good job - i know you will!! happy surgiversary good luck kathy

@Redmaxx hey dude. I do understand the bummer in once again having to wait for more news. Been there, done that😨 its not easy to be patient, but i truly believe in the docs when they say "don't worry". If something is going on - but i think if it were really bad, he would have been more honest in saying, "hmmm, there are serious things to look at", prepared you. Try not to worry toooo much (Easier said than done) but worrying doesn't help the situation. Tell your wife that too 😉 Hoping all will be ok - not too bad. good luck kathy

Any of you guys used NSAID's after surgery?
ProudGrammy replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@AchieveGoals i had the sleeve, and my doc said NO to NSAIDS we all know that docs are different in their instructions. At the end of the day you/me/we should follow drs./NUTS words of wisdom!!🙂 good luck kathy
