BAD stall- almost 5 mths out...
ProudGrammy replied to mi75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mi75 it is soooo frustrating dealing with stalls when you are in a stall it seems like forever as @@McButterpants said, take your measurements - you can see and feel a difference not to minimize your 2 week stall, but that reallllly isn't a major stall i've seen people on the board having a 2-3 month periods without loosing any weight but i do understand that 2 weeks feels like 2-3 months at least hopefully your stall will break sooner than later i'm sure you are doing everything by the book, righhhht????? the Water rules IMO are the most important to follow drink 64 oz water stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat never drink while you eat (people have been shot for less ) don't drink for one hour after you eat and of course plenty of Protein exercise is great too if you want to sign up at the gym - go for it it has been said to do "this or that" to break your stall but, you don't know if what you are doing helped break the stall or.......the stall finally ran its course you are doing great down 59 lbs!!! keep up the good job kathy congrats -
@@101truk yeah, your point is?............. happiness is all what its cracked up to be try and post more often hearing fresh new comments/advice is always welcomed keep up the fantastic job, i know you will good luck kathy congrats

ProudGrammy replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jennifer Rogers sorry bud- not drinking with meals is a forever, and ever, and ever rule i've always believed the Water rules are the hardest for newbies et al stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat never drink with food wait 45-60 minutes after you eat before you drink again drink 64 oz of water a day (chrystal lite, room temp water are good too) if you are having any problems with the above necessary water issues....... SUCK IT UP!! good luck kathy -

ProudGrammy replied to mariomomi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mariomomi nicely put and written these successes/accomplishments are commonly referred to as NSV's (non sleeve victory) NSV's vary from buying a smaller size clothes to squeezing in between 2 cars with no problems able to put a little tush in the middle seat on an airplane, with room to spare!! you guessed it - these are 3 of my NSV's look forward to all the NSV's you will be having post op great feeling you will see how far you have come - and eventually will go good luck kathy -
I am booked for a gastric sleeve in December. VERY NERVOUS and need a friend
ProudGrammy replied to Flaxseed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@Flaxseed different emotions (nerves, excitement, being terrified et al) are all common prerequisites to WLS i would bring friend/family to Ontario for support people all react to surgery differently hopefully you will have an uneventful, successful surgery some people return to work after a weekend others take a week, two weeks, month, etc etc i've heard people play hopscotch the next day!! common, normal side effects PO - gas, very tired, little weak/lack of energy you might read some "horror" stories here from people that had problems pre-op or post op these stories might stick out in your mind people remember the bad remember the fact that 99% of people have no major problems thats what you should be thinking about as far as support..............who are we??? chopped liver!! everyone is here for you good luck with WLS speedy recovery kathy -

@@Qtpie28 my doc told me not to gain any weight but loosing 5%, 10% wasn't required some docs/insurance do require that you loose 5% , 10% of your initial weight weighing 350 lbs you must loose either 35 lbs or 17.5 but, on the other hand the more you loose pre op, the better obviously that means you have all the less to loose post op follow all the necessary rules for WLS practice as you get ready for the big day these are rules you will be following for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy

.@@docbree i demand a recount and 2nd opinion they had to give me the once over two times glad things are getting wrapped up finishing jumping through the hoops and hurdles of insurance ready for the official approval and blessing i understand you are stressed, excited, nervous all those things we love/hate pre WLS!!! self sabatoge?? nawwww - don't go there!!!! i went through my own funeral right before surgery "maybe" indulging in one or two foods pre-op would be ok don't go overboard butttt, it isn't necessary to have that food funeral remember, in the not too far away future you will be able to eat all foods you like llllllimited portions (couple of bites) those bites need to be calculated in your calorie intake start using MFP write down EVERY bite you eat be honest keep track of your Water intake and exercising too you are approaching the big day you have been doing your research one year on the board seeing and listening to all the wise people on the board (especially me!! ) learn/practice pushing yourself and drink as much water as you can stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat don't drink with your meals!!! don't drink after you eat for about 45-60 minutes the above #s are from my NUT do whatever your NUT tells you always IMO water rules are the hardest to learn and deal with in your daily new life practice eating very slowly chewing thoroughly put utensil down between bites use a small plate i know you can/will comply with all the rules you know what to do can't wait to welcome you to sleeveland the wonderful world of health and happiness i will be the one throwing the confetti!!! good luck kathy congrats

Anyone Have A Relatively Easy Recovery Story?
ProudGrammy replied to Birdy18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@James McDonald raisig my hand, jumping up and down screaming "I did, I did" never had gas, vomitting issues no problems with drinking or sipping Water when i came home, went to sit down,..........oh,oh - first prob my stiches hurt when i tried to sit had to maneurver alot til i could get "somewhat" comfortable sleeping was hard too because i only can sleep on my side, and it hurt within 2-3 days, both problems got better i was slightly tired for the first week no noise or kids around so i was able to rest frequently and this time - my hubby took care of/helped ME (there is always a 1rst time) people post their recovery stories, good and bad its the "bad" stories that usually stick out in peoples mind the good stories aren't told as often cuz they are normal fine recoveries - borrrring basically my recovery went smoothly you look like a smart cookie I'm sure you will make the wise decision to have the sleeve am alittle biased, but i think the sleeve is the best surgery do your research about differen types of WLS too sleeve "stores" give me $50.00 everytime i promote the sleeve best of luck speedy healthy recovery good luck Kathy -

ProudGrammy replied to *Lexie*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@*Lexie* ahhhh man I'm really upset I got so excited after reading first few sentences of you post ... i ran and grabbed my PJ's, pillow , teddy bear, Water bottle and of course my chocolate raspberry Quest Protein bar!! told hubby he had to fend for himself then you tell me your kidding ok give me a minute i just got my kleenex tissues ok, starting to feel "alittle" better more composed i still think you added 10 year to my life ok, ok - put my silly pills away back to more imprtant things YOU did you forget one of the most important basic rules in sleeveland....,. never, never, never, EVER compare your weight loss to someone else!!! we're allllll different in our weight loss, how long it takes to loose weight you might want to hide that stupid scale too weigh yourself weekly you can't compare yourself to mary who lost 15.1 lbs her first coule of weeks - and you who "ONLY" lost 15 lbs the word "ONLY" should be delete by Mrs. Webster!! as long as "it" (the weight) all comes together/off at the end you and mary have reached their goal/success, weight loss doesn't matter who gets there first!!! this is a marathon, not a sprint!!! "God Grant Me Patience Just Hurry Up About It!!!" you know you are experiencing that dreaded stall get over it even if weight loss stops and stall comes back again for an unwanted visit I'm sure you are following the "rule book" right?? 64 oz of water don' drink for a 1/2 hour before you eat never drink while you are eating don't drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat (if you have a NUT, those #s might be alterred) eat protein first measure your food chew your food slowly put your utensil down and "rest" before the next bite don't eat so fast - food is not going anywhere eat on a smaall plate other rules too, above are most important i can think of right now at one month I didn't experiment with any "bad" foods like pizza not even few bites much later, i would/could take an extra bite (or two or three....) here and there like pizza but not at one month later you will be are allowed to eat that small piece or so of any food, but not yet at one month i was eating about 600/700 calories of course if your NUT tells you differently follow her rules don't get discouraged, please as far as the unintended lecture above you derserved it after renigging on your invitation!!!! you are a great person (don't let it go to your head!!) i see the determination and strength in your beautiful eyes i know you can and will be successful good luck kathy -
my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery. @@effinmetal sorry this happened to you please don't throw the towel in yet you can appeal their decision once, then i think twice don't give up thats what "they" are hoping you will do that way ins doesn't have to pay there are special forms you can get for a denial start at your bariatric office/or doc/surgeon "suzy orman " says borrowing from your 401K is a big no no i don't think a bank would give you a loan for surgery (could be wrong) there are other borrowing situations like said I don't know if there is a plan for paying surgery in Mexico (i kindof doubt it) don't give up the ship yet - you hopefully won't drown hope things work out good luck kathy

Lost 75 lbs. Gained 4 back @@zayadern NOT minimizing your gain but your loss "outweighs" your gain you should/must try and stop at 4 lbs people have been arrested if they gain more "attempted" analogy my 85 year old mom has worried she might have dimensia doc told her as long as she is concerned about it, she is ok you worry that you might be going back to old habits "hopefully" that means you won't worry/concernd/aware you might go backwards - old bad habits, hopefully you'll nip things in the bud the only problem about you gaining alittle weight on vacation is you forgot to invite me @@AvaFern (me too) suggest, weighing yourself daily to make sure you haven't gain. if or when i might gain a bit, i work harder and the weight does come off when i gained 3-4 lbs, I started throwing Protein shakes and yogurt at poor hubby its ok/good to be nervous that you've gained a bit, afraid you will go back to old habits if you really think your are going backwards KNOCK IT OFF keep working hard i have faith and confidence that you will be great you will continue to do awesome you lost 75 lbs congrats! good luck kathy
