Am I a 'recovered' morbidly obese person?
ProudGrammy replied to TheRealMeIsHere!'s topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
@TheRealMeIsHere! Congrats on your weight loss of 115 lbs. Great accomplishment. Your eating plan, whatever works for you, is what counts. I am a "recovering" morbidly obese person. Analogy - "recovering" alcoholic. good luck to the alcoholic for not having that first drink. hope/wishes to all of us for not eating that WHOLE pie, cake, bag of chips etc.☺️ kathy -
@raeraerae sorry for postponements of WLS. great attitude! good for you turning a bad situation into good!!☺️ losing 50 lbs pre-op. Way to go. with your determination, you will continue on the road to success! No stopping you now! keep up the good work. kathy congrats

@April Marie sorry bud, total bummer🙁 surgery hopefully will be sooner than later. even though surgery is postponed, don't go on an eating binge!! you don't want to gain before WLS, than have to loose more. good luck kathy

Buying Clothes Before Surgery
ProudGrammy replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Danny Paul moral of story newbies do not buy good/expensive clothes while you are losing weight, as time passes (quickly) the clothes will become big on you. Many OP buy clothes from a thrift shop as they are losing weight. kathy -
How did you learn about surgery
ProudGrammy replied to mahelpme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I knew someone from work that had WLS. he told me his experiences. Also, i kept seeing commercials on TV. Man & women, walking off in the sunset, hand in hand saying how happy they were since WLS😊 kathy -
Stigma may keep people from getting weight loss surgery
ProudGrammy replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@Healthy_life same with my doc - he told me to watch what i eat. (like i didn't know that!!) i guess its not really his responsibility to suggest the surgery, but it sure would have been nice. One day. at an appt., i asked his opinion about WLS, he said that i would be a great candidate. Good idea!! hmm, wish he had suggested before. Least there was one smart cookie in the office!!😉 kathy -
@mousecat88 i'm so sorry you continue with your situation😕 liquids for a couple of weeks - again!! wouln't wish that on my worst enemy looks like you are doing everything right. seeing, consulting w/dr i cannot/shouldn't offer you any medical opinion all i have to give you is my shoulder to cry on (tissues included) take care bud Kathy

Was told not to lose weight
ProudGrammy replied to DelawareWoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@DelawareWoman hmmmm, never heard that one!! (could you have misunderstood) my dr. told me pre-op - to lose 5% of my weight insurance wanted to make sure i COULD lose weight I have to do two weeks of something called a Robard Diet. shakes and Meal Replacement bars and Soups if you eat food above for two (2) weeks, i can't imagine you not losing any weight. i have heard/seen OP on board have out-patient procedure - they go home the same day depends on the doc - if you feel like you need to spend the night due to pain, talk to your doc - also make sure ins. will cover good luck kathy -
@Separ1418 this is a question that has plagued the world for centuries!!😊 after losing a lot of weight, i get it that "you" have less body fat, thus causing you to be cold some OP as little as 2 weeks PO say they are cold, i don't get it, understand?? (most have have not lost a lot of weight yet) @Separ1418 great weight loss - 70 lbs!! btw 105 lb weight loss here - never cold due to WLS bundle up keep up the good work kathy

ProudGrammy replied to mousecat88's topic in Rants & Raves

@mousecat88 you both look great!! don't know which one of you is cuter?? doesn't matter, luv you both😊 keep up the good work kathy -
@patanna unless NUT told you differently, drinking is drinking, you will never have to wait between drinking. (shakes inc.) don't look for trouble😉 - you are doing fine. you are doing great with intake of water . Try and get more protein is always advised!! - otherwise terrific weight loss - keep up the good work good luck kathy

Today marks 1 Year since surgery
ProudGrammy replied to Jdesmond73's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hey dude you are aces wild ride that keeps going and going and going and .... like the energizer bunny☺️ keep up the great job for the rest of your healthier, happier,. longer life kathy congrats -
@mousecat88 yes, i believe that if you don't lose any weight for 3 weeks+, that is considered a stall. some OP might say they haven't lost any weight for (1) one week, (2) weeks - not a stall. there is the dreaded common stall at 3 week stalls happen to most OP - very common,- this too will pass☺️ keep up the good work while your weight goes down!! @AJP your 2 lbs up and down - is not considered a stall - bad luck, but not a stall!!😉 kathy
-
@Krista27 Believe it - it's true!! 99 lbs is terrific☺️ keep up the good work kathy congrats
