@@bayla1212 do to physical knee problems and more - i took and early retirement disability in other words i didn't have to contend with answering questions from people on how i lost my weight since i stopped working at 53 years old i told my family (4 siblings, mom, aunt, uncles) on thanksgiving day 2011 all at the same time we rarely get together as a family (we live in different states) made sense to me to just tell all at the same time don't really know many people i could/would tell my "story" to one time i started answering a neighbor about my weight loss i told her i was eating healthier, more moderately, and exercising all is good with me good luck with your own personal decision kathy i stopped midstream when i was done talking i looked at her then proceeded to tell her about the sleeve in my case (for me) i just felt too weird with the "omission" about WKS maybe if i had many many more people to tell, it would be different but i didn't, so it wasn't

    ANYONE NERVES ABOUT SLEEVE?

@@MOALAFAM11 i think the above question/statement should be rephrased............. "Is there anyone who is NOT nervous about being sleeved"??? i was extremely nervous the month of upcoming surgery all surgeries have their "possibilities" small chances there "MIGHT" be a complication/problem i think the % of worry by people about to be sleeved is 98-100% but the actual % of people with problems might be 1 - 2% ??? tips for when you are at home??? Party Hearty then again.......... i always think/say that the Water issue is the most important you CAN live without eating for a time period but you NOT live without water YOU MUST DRINK - YOU MUST DRINK - YOU MUST DRINK - YOU MUST............ did i get my point across? it might be hard at first to drink water try drinking liquids at normal/room temperature chrystal light also is good take small sips maybe set a "reminder"/bell/timer every 5 minutes or so to drink/sip more water stop drinking 1/2 hour before you eat do not EVER drink while you are eating do not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat drink at least 64 oz of water a day not drinking enough water can/will make you dehydrated you will then have to go to hospital and be rehydrated by IV's do everything slowly don't overdue its time to take care of YOU tell hubby or significant other or............ to fend for themselves tell the kids to run (or crawl) around at the park for a few hours then you can get your necessary rest by the time they get home they will be tuckered out easy to put to bed surgery one from today i'll "allow" you to be a little worried about surgery but enough is enough put your excited cap on too after all you are on the way to a healthier, happier, longer life who deserves it more good luck speedy recovery kathy

    Last minute BIG DOUBTS

@@JALUVIC I can tell you are a smart cookie you made the wise decision to have surgery at one time please don't back out now this is a huggggge decision you made but i'm pretty sure you did your research talked to your docs it wonderful that your son is so "worried/concerned" about you IMO you shouldn't not (excuse the dble negative) have the surgery because your 22 year old son is very worried for you why don't you bring your son with you to talk to the surgeon doc could help son understand more about the surgery son can ask his questions too doc could assure your son that things hopefully should go well i don't believe in saying the blanket "surgery will go fine" because all surgeries have POSSIBLE risks/complication it has been spoken about that people like "us" you, me etc frequently put themselves on the back burner you need to move up front and take care of you many people do get scared/apprehensive/ nervous about having surgery common emotions good luck with your decision kathy

How much weight did you lose?

@@jmccape hi i lost 105 lbs in a year i have been maintaining these past 2+ year the doc might give you a goal weight to shoot for but you can lose whatever amount of weight you want 80-85% of your tummy has been removed PO tummy is small now thanx to the sleeve the sleeve DOES/will help you lose weight that's its "job" you MUST follow all the rules applying to the sleeve or whatever surgery you have chosen doing the rules etc will help you reach your initial GOAL there is absolutely no reason why you couldn't continue to lose more weight if you follow the rules after you reach goal you will be able to maintain goal as long as you continue to follow all the rules these rules must be followed for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life the sleeve does totally work to help you lose weight you work with the sleeve and it will work with/for you the sleeve will "assist" you in the weight loss but.......you have lots of work to do while you approach goal this is not the simple pill that will automatically make you lose weight and then keep you at goal can't refer to the "rules" enough you must always follow the rules to be successful for me - i am soooo glad i had this surgery "it" has improved my health and happiness words can't express the common ONLY regret about surgery people (me) wish they had surgery years ago i am one of the mmmmmany mmmmmany satisfied, successful sleevers i can see you are a smart cookie i hope you choose to have the surgery to help you, but. don't decide on anything until you've thoroughly researched this is an important life changing decision that shouldn't be made in haste best of luck to you kathy
