@@Big Opie stay consistent using only one scale ie refer/use ONLY the scale at home l whatever the starting # is - go with that it can be hard to ignore what other people say they couldn't know what they are talking about if they say such an ignorant thing per @@Babbs "If.you decided to be a race car driver, would you take advice from someone who's never driven a race car?" very true, love it!!!! having the surgery is soooo NOT the easy way out you can tell them I said so!!! the sleeve or lapband or gastric bypass will "assist" you to loose the weight, and help maintain but YOU must work with it - and it will work with you YOU be nice to the sleeve - the sleeve will be nice back (in other words don't abuse your little tummy by eating too much, and the wrong foods) you must follow many many rules for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life eating small portions, and drinking lots and lots of Water, and much more but the rules we are to follow are basic rules that the whole world should abide by but "they" don't because its NOT so easy if it were easy, then we would have a world full of normal weighing people do we??? i dddddon't think so you need to read, gather lots of information check out a seminar (take a friend, family member with you) you'll get lots of info from the surgeon talking to the group finding this board was great supporting each other is the main name of the game we are all here to ask and answer questions give our thoughts, comments, experiences all very important to read and learn there is also a search area in the top right hand corner we are not surgeons or NUTS (nutritionist) we ARE all very smart!!!! (especially me ) at the end of the day always ONLY listen to your surgeon/NUT (or me ) check around on U-Tube you can read/find a lot about the surgery watch videos from people that are going through the surgery process hear weight loss testimonials all very interesting not sure if you already have surgery scheduled, or you are just seriously thinking about it?? this is a serious, life changing decision "weigh" your options if you think you can exercise and eat right lose the weight on your own, keep it off for the rest of your life that's great!!!! surgery is probably not necessary but if you have lost weight many times over, just to regain surgery might be the way to go not the easy way but it is a great "thing" to do for yourself be successful, start a new wonderful life being healthier and happier good luck with your decision kathy

@@lynneanne wise decision even though i helped you come to that conclusion I'm happy that you sound much happier, more confident etc. 3 weeks PO - still dealing with these problems things should hopefully start to improve Your PCP sounds aces continue follow-up continue with your liquids and stuff you are doing everything right eating (drinking) as little as you do there is no way your weight won't eventually go south Patience is very important, essential!!! continued good luck kathy

@@lynneanne WARNING, WARNING, WARNING long post, grab a glass of Water sorry you've haven't lost weight since WLS I do relate to how you must feel not that this helps much, but there are other people in similar situations not loosing weight (even gaining) might take longer than you like, but hopefully you will see improvement sooner than later "God GIVE ME PATIENCE, JUST HURRY UP ABOUT IT!!" YOU are the RN, so what i say is from a laymen who is 3+ years WLS. 2+ years GOAL maintaining 105 lb weight loss (little fluctuation) One very healthy, happy camper!! "don't feel well , metabolism out if whack and no confidence in him at all (surgeon)" I'm not the RN like you, (not being sarcastic) but i don't think the metformin in this case is the culprit of how you feel your tummy has gone through major surgery surgery also would/can effect your whole body making it sore/tired PCP told me to stop taking my diabetes meds (avandia), high blood pressure meds and using my CPAP one day after surgery I also questioned how could we do this so quickly. he said something like these problems should improve quickly after surgery continued no more CPAP in two weeks - follow up appt - blood pressure considerably down finger stick # lower than i have ever seen, and i hadn't been wearing my CPAP i saw him 2 weeks later after blood work (I was due for another A1C) A1C was down to 5.1 - blood pressure was good too no problems at night without CPAP as far as your surgeon............... IMO - he doesn't sound good to me earlier post you said he didn't want to check your incision area til you pushed him you asked in an earlier post if you should just see your PCP only - i vote YES if there is a question that only a surgeon needs to help you with - of course call him you/me/others should/need to have confidence in their surgeon, be comfortable feel better don't give in/up you can do this and will be "less" of a person hopefully things will improve soon good luck kathy

@@Deanna66 BECAUSE!!!! couldn't resist - i took an extra silly pill instead of my Vitamin back to topic warning, warning, warning you will have MAJOR surgery!!! then you will have a teeny tiny little bitty tummy its sore, tender you need to handle tummy with plenty of TLC be nice to it, and it will be nice to you your NUT/doc will give you a date you can start puree' etc this will be a slow process DEAL WITH IT  "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It " good luck speedy recovery kathy

I can't drink any protein! Help
ProudGrammy replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kristy Haugen Oliver protein is essential i hope one of the above good suggestions help hopefully your NUT can help you with bathroom issues my concern/comment/question is do you get in a lot of Water?? drinking - water, broth, even popsicles (liquid) keep you hydrated you MUST get plenty to drink liquids are more important to get in then protein at this time many people end up in the ER if they don't drink enough then you need to get hydrated with IV solution good luck finding a Protein Drink take care kathy -
@@IcanMakeit i might pick up something light, put on napkin, walk around with it or walk around with a cold glass of ice Water w/lemon make silly little nothing conversation that will keep my mouth active minus the calories that way i don't feel "all eyes" are on me walking around without any food i HATE champagne, and most other liquor (even wine) so i don't have that temptation unfortunately i have a sweet tooth i do usually follow the all or nothing with sweets no skin off my nose if i ate all the sweets i wanted it would be excess fat on my hips i can deal with usually leaving certain foods alone i CAN'T deal with gaining weight!!!! i don't want to live like a monk avoiding foods i want to live normal with my eating but i know myself if i start eating one of this, then the next day 2 of that, and the next day............ can't go there know my limitations - that's half my battle i plan to continue winning my war gathering today for mom's day food all over 2 weeks later - big family get together i will "put" my nose up to many foods have a wonderful time minus many different yummy foods i don't feel deprived, i feel happy about /with myself i would usually rather abstain, then "teasing" myself with a teeny taste of something that's how i deal with parties/food it works for me always room for one more in the vets group especially someone as cute, special and successful as you at our next vet "meeting" i will bring the baby bel cheese you can supply the Quest bars stay strong you will do great with maintenance i feel it in my gut! Newbie with 3 kids
ProudGrammy replied to michellebernal1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@michellebernal1 congrats on "kicking the soda habit " firm believer in following the rules (99.999% of the time) for a while after surgery, you are not allowed to lift a certain amount of weight check with your NUT - she will tell you the weight limit this in your case refers to your cutie kids don't lift them too soon, go with your doc/NUTS directions the 5 year old twins would probably love you to pick them up periodically with your hugs nut "might" tell you they weigh too much for you to lift immediately PO the two year old is also probably too heavy early PO we all recover from surgery differently you might have an "uneventful" recovery, no problems that would be great but keep your eyes open always!!!! it might not always be peaches and cream i think its ok to sometimes "expect/prepare" for the worst - hope for the best do you live alone with your cutie kids???? hubby, boyfriend, mom (other family) can they stay with you to help with the kids??? you must not overdue!!!! you will just have had major surgery don't be too proud to ask/accept help from others i'll be happy to come over to help per your request just mail me a round way ticket $5,00.00 spending money i'll bring my Water btl and swim suit your twins will gradually notice good changes in you you will/should feel better/healthier you will/should feel more confident to be outside with them "playing" no more sitting on the side lines watching life go by, or sitting on the bench kids are aware of changes in people (ie their mom losing weight, being more active, happier etc) take care bud good luck with surgery thoughts for a speedy/healthy recovery kathy -
