    Food Police

I have had to deal with "food police" for years at my work since they all know I follow Weight Watchers, off and on. It is really aggravating to be stereotyped into what THEY think a 'diet' is. It's so very frustrating. For that reason, I will tell NOBODY at my work except for one other gal that had it done over 2 yrs ago (because I've been asking her questions about it) and one other that I talk to some. That's it!! I don't need added frustration to my day with the others being a 'food police'. I hope they back off from you and you can get some peace eventualy.

    Help for Depression

This is a very interesting post. I have been wanting to get some Omega 3's to take as I know they are good for a healthy heart, but where do you find some that can be taken with the band (so that I will already be taking them for when I do get banded)?
  4. Oh the joys that us "pre bandsters" have to look forward to. ha ha!!

    The Band as a Tool

I am glad to read this!! I am hoping when I get banded, that it changes my ways of thinking about food, just like that. Or at least, for most of the time. This post and all of the comments have been a big encouragement for me while doing my reasearch for the band. Thank you all.

    Why are YOU Fat?

This is a GOOD Question? I can look back at my elementary school pictures and see when the weight started, along about 10 or so, I guess. I eat because it's GOOD, and because it's so good, even when I KNOW I"m satisfied, I don't stop.....because it's good! I hate that about me. I eat when I'm lonely, I eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm mad. Food has become the center of my life and I want it to stop. God intended for me to consume food (to live, for nourishment) but NOT for food to consume me. Somewhere along the way, I totally screwed that up. I LOVE sweets and carbs too. I blame my mom for my sweet tooth because she is the same way about them. and somewhere along the way I have developed an unhealthy love for fast food drive thrus!! I have been good about going to the gym, exersing 5 hours a week at least, but the eating is my hardest part. It makes it worse at my work place since we are always getting food brought to us, and so many times it is NOT healthy. And many times it's a lot of sweets. I wish I had better control. I do better some times but it's always a struggle for me. Then there are the times that I just binge.....don't know why....I just do. That's where I hope when I get banded, it will help me, keep me from it.

    McD's breakfast.. am I stuck?

:o Oh my......if I ever finally get banded, this post .....as well as a few others....will sure make me really watch my bite sizes. I sometimes check myself on my bites now and I KNOW that this will be a challenge for me. All the more reason why I should go ahead and get used to it now, huh? I am glad you overcame that episode.
  12. I just wanted to say that I enjoy reading your very helpful posts. I am in the researching and waiting (for new insurance come Sept) to see if I can be banded so I do lots of reading up on this. I got the book "Bandwagon" that was suggested and almost done reading it, but these posts are a HUGE help to me. Thanks for sharing yourself. :0)

    Actual lap band surgery

Wow! I cringed, while watching, just thinking "OUCHY!" But....at least it's a REAL view of what it actually looks like. Not such a clean look as with the fake plastic stomach they show us. Thanks for posting. Very interesting.

    GOODBYE to you!

You go, CurlyDiva! I like that letter idea. And really like the video one too, ReJoyce. I LOVE to watch the Biggest Loser, so I think that video thing they do would be a very good motivator for me when I start going backwards with my eating. It should get me back on track quickly to see myself with that extra weight, and in so much sadness 'cause knowing me, I won't be able to do it without tears coming down.

    BLOG list

I am glad this post was started. It will be good to read some blogs. I do have a question, though. How do you actually subrscribe to a blog? and how does it work? Is it sent to your email like a newletter? Thank you.
  16. Well, I'm pretty stubborn sometimes.....so I'd probably tell him No.....I can manage on my own. I am stubborn enough to show him that I don't NEED him or anything he has to offer.

    Emotional Stages of Lapband

This is a great topic. I am not banded yet, but I already KNOW myself enough to KNOW that I will definitley hit that 'grieving' stage as well. I know it's for my own good, but it will be tough. I am a sweets eater, (and pretty much all carbs, in general) and I struggle so much with things (lunches, goodies, etc..) that are being brought into our office every week, 2 or 3 times a week. This will be a hard one for me, but I NEED it to help me not be able to go overboard with those treats. I will have to work at what I put in my mouth, just as I do now, while following my weight loss plan I'm on now.

    water with meals

I'm glad to read this post, since this issue has been on my mind. I haven't been banded yet, but I am a definite 'drinker' with meals, so it's good to know that I MAY be able to do a few sips during meals once I'm there. My whole thought process was how dry it would be trying to get it down without a sip or 2 of water, or something. I'll see what works for me.

    Chew and Spit?

lol! I can so see me doing this when I finally start the process before/after banding liquid phases. I understand where some are saying it can be an unhealthy eating habit, however......if I'm end up being one who won't be able to down bread, there may be SOME times that I just want that taste of my mama's yeast rolls in my mouth and I may just have to chew a bite or two. No harm done.

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Hi all! I am so glad there is a WW forum on here!! I have been a Weight Watcher member for years. Like some other posters, I can say I have lost well over 100 to 150 pounds on WW, if you add all the times I have lost 50 then gained most of it back. I, at this time, am still down about 20 lbs from my highest with WW. I love this plan. Love how it's in my head already and know that it will be a great tool with the band. I am not banded yet, but looking to get it within 2 or 3 months. (seems sooooo far away ) I am waiting on September so I will see what new insurance options I have at my work place. Until then, I have been back on track with WW for over a week. I KNOW this will work hand in hand with the band just because it teaches healthy eating and the points= how much I need to eat for my weight, height, sex, etc.... for weight loss, otherwise I could eat too few calories and my body will not let go of the fat, thinking it's in a famine. I know there will be some tweaks to be made, but like another poster said, I will try to stay as close to my point count as possible by choosing higher points foods, that are healthy (such as a protein bar if I want). I wish all of you great success and I look forward to being on the other side of the band.....eventually.

    Best Protein Shakes

I also like the EAS ready to go ones. I also bought some Jillian Michaels french vanilla creme (something like that) powder Protein at WalMart and mixed it with ice and a few marachino cherries and some of the juice with a bit of chocolate syrup (sugar free) . Used the blender. It was like a shake. It was fabulous. I'm all about chocolate, so I got vanila so I could sometimes add chocolate, or other flavors to mix it up.

    1/2 a cup

I have to agree that 1/2 cup is just not enough food; banded or NOT. I have followed Weight Watchers for many years and it pretty much has you do a formula to show you how many calories you need a day (per your weight, sex, height, etc....) much like the posters here have said about how many calories a day to use for energy, etc... I'm sure other weight loss programs do the same thing. I'm just using Weight Watchers as an example because I know it so well. I can't imagine the Dr. wanting you only on 1/2 cup too far out from your first stages, on any kind of program....again, banded or not. I am only trying to be helpful as well, not a know it all, so please don't take this post that way. I just don't want you to be malnourished. I can tell you that there have been some weeks that if I don't get my correct calorie count in (too many times) that I don't lose. My body thinks I'm starving it, therefore it holds on to my fat and won't let it go. Just try eating more to see how it works for you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Congrats to all of you on your losses. I am still wating to get banded.
  23. Ashleigh, I'm glad you are doing well, now past the liquid stage. It's good to read a surgery story from someone in my area, by the same practice that I'll be using. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I'll have to stay overnight with mine, because I don't believe my insurance requires it. (unless I add the plication.) I am still thinking about it.....but then would have to go to Greenville. Not so sure if I'm up to that, or not. I am still anxiously waiting for my work to get our new plans with BCBS so I can pick one that will cover the most. .
  24. Awesome read. I am so ready for this.
  25. Ok.will do.Thanks.
