    February Bandsters?

Sorry you had a stuck episode. Have you had a fill yet? I am just curious if you and others had stuck episodes before the first fill. I have found I can eat anything I have tried...and I do get a bit careless at times with my chewing or eating too fast. I have not braved bread and probably won't. I don't have a fill yet. I have never had a stuck episode but I sure do get some horrible left shoulder pain that clues me in to watch it.
  2. I have to agree about Mio. I LOVE the sweet tea! I use it every day. I also like the strawberry/ watermelon flavor. Haven't tried the others yet. I did try Great Value brand of the fruit punch and do NOT care for it at all. I'm sure the Mio brand is good. I also love crystal light green tea peach mango.
  3. I have been on a salad kick. Like tuna salad, ham salad, chicken salad and egg salad. I just made some egg salad with cottage cheese mixed in with a bit of bacon bits and a little shredded low fat cheese added. It was very filling and was 15 protein grams for my serving. Yum.

    February Bandsters?

Girleyq, you are not alone. I am down 24 lbs but 12 of that is from my preop diet also. I follow weight watchers so I know I have been within my limits, however, the weight loss has been verrry slow to none since my 2nd wk post op. Another bandster I know ( she had surgery a few yrs back) said she started slow but then it just suddenly started coming off. So....keep your chin up. It will happen for us. We must keep up eating the right things. I have found that I need to watch my sodium intake. I have been eating too many canned foods like ham, chicken, tuna. So I must watch it. I just got on those. Ham salad etc. kicks.
  6. You may not need surgery. I know a few folks that had a slipped band. The doc just removed all the fill from their band and within a couple of weeks it had corrected itself. Ask your doc. He will know best.

I Am Crying As I Write This...

Prayers going up for you, Rae. I think many of us are in the same boat as you when it comes to emotional eating. We have to find other ways to deal besides food. Reading, walking, hanging at the beach and going to the gym help me. Keep busy to keep your mind off if food. Any hobbies you like will help. Even readng these forums. Much success to you. :0)

    Surgery In Am

I wish you well. I will tell you like another helpful poster told me: you will feel like you just went asleep and woke up banded! It's so true! It wasn't as bad as I thought. I was not all that sore. My worst part was the gas/ (shoulder mostly) pain. It will be worth it. I was banded 02/29 and all is going well. My clothes are loose and I have gotten into some that WERE too tight! Said a prayer for you!

    February Bandsters?

I have learned to have a protein drink on my way to work to help get in enough calories/ protein. I Have done pretty good. I lost 2 more lbs last week and looks like I am going to show another loss this week. I sneaked a weigh in but it is not my actual " weigh in" day. I don't weigh every day. It can be discouraging. I am fine with 1 to 2 lbs as it is a safe way to lose. So far, I have had no problems with any foods. But...I mostly eat dofter foods also, like chicken salad, etc... I will be on my normal foods stage in a few days. Will be interesting to see how I will do. Softer, not dofter. Lol!

    February Bandsters?

I had surgery 02/29. I am currently on stage 3 ( according to my instruction shert from dietician). I am on fork tender/ soft foods stage. I have things like tuna or chicken(canned) mixed with mayo and a little pickle juice ( can't have pickles yet). I still do some refried beans with cheese melted on top also. Mostly I do protein shakes for breakfast, or yogurt and 1/2 cup of diced peaches. Yesterday I ate fome of my mom's yummy crockpot corned beef and cabbage. 1/2 cup of each item with msybe 1/4 cup of potato. Was very tender and drlicious. I haven't had any issues with anything yet, bit I sure have not been brave enough to try bread, but I think that can only be to my advantage. :0) That's carbs I don't need. My next appt ( for my first fill- if needed) is the first week of April. I am doing well with foods right now so my goal is to NOT need a fill yet. Even though I am doing well, my weight is at a stand stiill. I even gained a pound or two. ?? Don't get it. I am a weight watcher gal so I have not only been keeping up with my protein count but have also been counting my points and I am not even getting all my points in. Maybe I am not eating enough. I will see how this week goes. Glad all is well with everyone. May we all have an awesome weight loss journey to getting healthy.

    What To Eat?

My first food was KFC's mashed potatoes and gravy (this past Wednesday). I added unflavored protein powder. It was so yummy. I have never been that big of a mashed potatoes fan, but boy, these were heavenly. I was careful to eat slowly. Then i ate the other half of them for my next meal.

    Difficulty With Protein

Yoplait coconut flavor is delicious. I am not a big fan of greek yogurt, normally. I did find that I like the Chobani brand, stawberry or peach, okay but, I finally tried the 4 oz. cups of Yoplait brand this week. I would never have known it's greek yogurt. I am a fan!it greek yogurt,
  14. I don't have my pre op visit until Mon Mar 12, however I met with my nutritionist today. She gave samples of my next stage of foods. I never thought I would ever be excited over mashed potatoes n gravy! I have some unflavered protein powder and I just stopped by KFC to order. Oh my! How yummy they taste. I am so sick of sweet ptotein drinks. This is " heavenly". Plus I was a bit concerned with my weight loss since surgery. Too much to be healthy. I am down like 14 lbs. In a week! Now...don't get me wrong; I don't want it back!!! Lol! However I knew I needed to add more per meal than the first week allowance of 2 oz. I have material she gave me presurgery but it was nice to get clarification and menu samples

    Surgery Done!

Glad all is well with you now. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. The first day, I , too, became nauseated shortly after taking a sip of something. I dry heaved too. And it happened a little later that evening also when I wasnt even drinking. Thanking God, it hasn't happened since.

    Sex

My doc orders say wait at least 2 weeks. I think the longer you can hold off the better. You won't want to cause problems for yourself. You have been through too.much to mess it up.

    Lap Band Slips

I also personally know 2 people with the band that the slipping happened to. One of them actually fell down and it caused hers to slip. Both of them had their bands completely unfilled and it fixed itself after a couple of weeks. So....hopefully all goes well with you too. :0)
  19. Gas x is your friend! And walking. The gas pains, for me, were far worse than the surgery wounds. I am 7 days post op and finally ( giving thanks to God for it!) the gas pains in my left shoulder are mostly gone. Still feel them here and there' but not constant like they were. Remember to sip all day. And sip slowlyyyyy.
  20. Thank you for the encouragement, all. Smiley, Yes I do walk as much as I can. I do use gas x strips, and I do use a heating pad. I will not overdo it because I have come too far to look back now. :0)

    February Bandster!!!

Yay for all the losses! Dee, congrats for onederland. THAT is a huge goal for me. I haven't seen that weight since before 1997. I am down 10 lbs since surgery. ( 02/29) But I know its because I am not eating. Only drinking. Not enough calories because my grueling growling stomach keeps throwing fits for food! I am sooooo ready for mushies stage. But first I have to do pureed and more liquid stage. I am sooooo sick of Protein shakes.

    How Long Were You Out?

My surg was 2/29. I am off until Thursday Mar 7 when I return to work. I have a sedentary job in a medical office. I have needed this time due to horrible shoulder( gas) pains. I am finding that some of it seems very related to the grueling stomah growling/ hunger pangs. Am I the only one with that?
